Frustration Setting In
ssflbelle commented on ssflbelle's blog entry in Welcome to my journey toward being able to walk again! So glad you were able to self pay and will be getting your surgery without jumping through all the hoops. Unfortunately being on disability I had to go the insurance route. Yesterday I finally got my date for surgery. Jan 26th. Nothing better stop this from happening now that I have a date. Good luck with yours whenever it is.

Surgery Tore My Throat UP!
Glad to hear your throat is better. Almost 8 weeks is an awful long time to be in such pain with your throat, of all things. I gather the incisions were not as painful as the throat. Congratulations on the 40 pounds lost as well. I finally got my surgery date of Jan 26th and hope and pray I do not have the same throat issues. However I will continue to follow your thread, just in case I do. Keep going strong and you will make it to goal.

December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
After being caught in a Catch 22 between my surgeon and my PCP I finally today got my surgery date. Jan 26 2 days after my 60th birthday. I was beginning to think I would never get the surgery. Hope everyone who had surgery today is doing good.

Ridiculously long time waiting for insurance approval
4:36 this afternoon I was finally told that the surgeon had finally received everything from the PCP and I have a surgery date of Jan 26th. It took a ridiculously long time for the PCP to give clearance. I hope you get your clearance soon and your stress level comes down like mine did.

January or February 2016 Sleevers?
Hi Everyone I am back and I FINALLY have a surgery date of Jan 26th 2 days after my 60th birthday. I had to speak to the PCP Site manager and threatened that if the PCP didn't send out the medical clearance today I would be in his office tomorrow and would not leave until I got the medical clearance. Well I guess this threat worked. My 6 months was up on Nov 23rd and I have been waiting all this time for the PCP to give me the medical clearance. I can't believe all the hoops I have had to jump through and all the delays with referrals and appt being set. This is my first surgery and I never dreamed of what was involved. I see at least 2 others have the same surgery date as I do. I have only 1 day of clear liquids as I was on the 6 months supervised diet. My copay is reasonable but the hospital will not accept a personal check or credit card. I never heard of a hospital not accepting a credit card. I can only pay with a cashier's check. So now I have to take a cash advance (if I can't save the copay in 3 weeks) and get a cashier's check to give to them on Jan 19th when I have the 4 hour workshop. I was beginning to think I was never going to get my gallbladder out and get the sleeve. It will be 2 days late but a wonderful gift for my 60th year on this Earth.

Ridiculously long time waiting for insurance approval
Seven days later then my last posting and I still do not have a date. The surgeon's office called today to tell me they do not have the EKG report even though that was done Nov 12th. I'd like to know why it take 6 1/2 weeks to send a medical record from one Dr to another? This is ridiculous!! I just went through another phone call session with the site manager at my PCP office too as he hasn't given me medical clearance yet either despite him saying on on Dec 17 he would. I have been on everyone's a$$ at least 2 to 3 times a week trying to get this surgery done and on top of it I also need my gallbladder taken out.

I got my date! Any other Feb 2nd sleevers?
Congratulations on getting your date and on Christmas no less. My surgeon's office closed down Wed and will reopen Monday. Santa didn't bring me my date maybe the New Year Baby will. I started June 16th, was done with the 6 months supervised diet in Nov and have been waiting since Dec 7th for my PCP medical clearance and a surgery date.

Disappointed with Bariatric Pal store
Part of the problem may be due to the fact that the warehouse is moving from New York to Michigan. When I ordered my items in Oct I got them within 5 days. I am sure moving a warehouse from one state to another involves a lot and may be causing the delay.

I'm Weird: I'm Afraid of Losing Any More Weight
I had written you a long length post and I hit a wrong button and it disappeared. I am just going to say I speak from experience when I say please seek help. I had no idea where to go in the early 1970's to seek the help I need for the same things you expressed here. I was 21 and had lost 107 pounds through a diet program and had never had any relationships with men of any kind until after I lost my weight. The emotional turmoil and uncomfortableness got to be too much for me after a huge emotional hurt from a man. I ate myself from 170 up to 497. It destroyed my life and I know that if I had some counseling on how to deal with my new body and men I never would be suffering as I am today/ Please don't do as I have done, you have worked too hard to stop. Seek the help you need. I will be following this post and if you wish to email me privately feel free to do so. I have been in your shoes and am here for you.

Cross Country RV Trip
Don't forget a knife, fork ,and spoon to pull apart the chickens and to eat with plus some zip lock baggies as you will have lots of left over food to package up to place in the refrigerator. Good luck on your trip and I hope all goes well.

My 1 MONTH Post-Op Progress Report
Dub What I can't get over is 1 month ago McFatster was only able to walk 50 yards and now he is walking 3 miles. That is 5,230 more yards than he use to walk. That is if I did my math right. For me who can't walk but 2 to 3 minutes walking that much more just blows my mind away. McFatster I am the female version of what you were and I can only hope and pray I can become what you are now and will be in the future. I know your wife is thrilled for you. If you don't join her on the hike she spoke about in another thread- I will come to Ky and join her.

Ridiculously long time waiting for insurance approval
I haven't been having these same issues but I have also been waiting since Nov 23 for a surgery date so I have some idea how you are feeling. My paperwork was submitted before I had medical clearance from my PCP. My PCP will not give me medical clearance until he has a surgery date and my surgeon will not give me a date until I have medical clearance. I have been calling this my Catch 22. When I saw my PCP again on Thursday he told me he would sign the clearance and he still has not. I called again today and the Office manager was not in but the office worker took the message and I also have the surgeon's record lady working on it too. At the rate this is going I probably willnot have my surgery until Feb as the surgeon only operates 8 days a month. VERY FRUSTRATING-and will COST Me more as well. All I can say is just keep on pushing them as I am doing.

Finally!
I am so glad you finally have a surgery date. Believe me I know how frustrating and the up in the air feeling you get when you have to wait sooo long for a date. You also have a great start with the weight you were able to lose. What type of surgery are you going to have? I have a feeling I also will be having my surgery in Feb instead of Dec or Jan like I originally thought. If you are getting the sleeve there is a Jan -Feb surgery thread on these boards. if your interested in joining here is the url. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/357095-january-or-february-2016-sleevers/

GoFundMe accounts?
I had a similar account and I got a whooping $25.00. Proud2BMe is correct. Unless you are a very populur person involved in all sorts of activity clubs, get yourself broadcasted on the local evening News and have tons of friends willing to put your GoFundMe account url in their signature line you will probably not raise much.

January or February 2016 Sleevers?
I am so glad all of you are getting your dates for surgery. You will all have them done probably before I even get my date despite that fact that my 6 months supervised diet was done Nov 23rd. My PCP and surgeon have me in a Catch 22. I was so ready for this to happen this month and now I have no idea when it will happen. I am leaving the thread for awhile until I have a date.Very discouraged and angry with both Doctors at this point. I wish you all the very best with your surgeries. When I finally get a date if it is in Jan or Feb I will be back here. Bye for now

It's my (birthday) and I'll cry if I want to...
Happy Birthday!! Reflect on all the physical things you couldn't do last Birthday, that your able to do this Birthday. I know you already listed a bunch of them on a progress thread, I hope you didn't forget them already. Your not being able to eat certain foods will seem very minor in comparison to all the scale and non scale victories. Have a great Birthday!!

Is this group still active
Hi Klolojadie and Niki I have not had my sleeve yet. I seem to be caught in a catch 22 between my surgeon and my PCP. The surgeon will not give me a date until I get medical clearance and the PCP will not give me medical clearance till he gets a date. On Thursday my surgeon gave my PCP a dummy date for the mid of Jan but I was told it wouldn't be until Feb sometime as the surgeon only operates 8 days a month. This is very disappointing to me as I finished my 6 month supervised diet on Nov 23 and I was ready to get this done like the first week of Jan. I am going to be 60 on Jan 24th and wanted the sleeve before my 60th birthday. However I guess I can't make it happen so I will try to continue to eat high Protein and low carb until I can get it done. I hope both of your surgeries went well and neither one of you had complications. KloloJadie what phase are you on, Clear Liquids? How are you feeling, any pain? Is the gas gone by now. Niki you have lost a lot for 4 months. That is great!! Are you able to feel the changes? What can you do now that you couldn't do 4 months ago? If no one else is active here we can at least support each other despite having different surgeries. Hope to hear back from you both.

My 1 MONTH Post-Op Progress Report
WOW that is great results for the 1st month. 36 pounds is a huge loss and you have had a lot of NSV as well. Many of which I also hope to achieve with the sleeve whenever my surgery date is going to be.

Anyone's first surgery?
Wow Another wonderful idea. Thanks! I will have to ask my room mate if he will do it for me. My Doctor doesn't allow coffee or tea for 2 months after surgery. I don't know if that would include decaf tea or not. I guess I will be asking during the 4 hour workshop a week before surgery when ever that will be.

Anyone's first surgery?
Swinging my arms around and bending side to side helped me more with the gas than the walking did. Thanks for that bit of new info. That is what I like about this site new bits of information to share. I never would have known this other movement would have helped. I just hope I will remember it when the time comes.

December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
I was thinking I would call some other Doctors in my network on Monday and see how many days they do WLS and if they had openings in Jan. Hopefully they will be nice and give me that info. If so I may ask them if I could switch. I don't know why but I thought WLS Doctors had more surgery days than 1 or 2 a week.

Anyone changed Surgeons after getting approved
Thanks for the replies back. I may just call a few Doctors who are more local to me. I found out yesterday that my Dr only does WLS on Thursdays and on Tuesday he operates on obese people for other problems. He was suppose to remove my gallbladder and do the sleeve surgery. Only doing surgery 8 times a month I guess he filled up all of Jan already. If other Doctors do surgery more than 8 days a month I might have a better chance to get mine done in Jan since everything is all done and I am just waiting for a surgery date with the Dr I have.

December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
I was literally in the same boat as you until tues of this week. My surgeons office called me and told me my surgery date is dec 28 and I have been jumping yhrough hoops all week to get this done. Things can happen really fast. I hope you get your date soon. Good for you.So glad you will have yours before the end of the year. I am wondering,do any of you have surgeons who operate only 2 days per week. The nurse told me mine only does WLS on Thursday and on Tuesday he does the other kinds of operations on obese people. He left for another country for the holiday on Dec 15 and will not be back until Jan 4th. He is filled up for the month of Jan. Well I guess that isn't too hard to do when you only operate 8 days out of the month. I guess that is why I have to wait 2 to 3 months after the 6th months supervised diet is done before I get my surgery. Had I known this when I started all this in June I would have gone with w different more local Dr. I only went with this one as someone I know used him and has great results. Now I think it is too late to change to a different Dr.

Anyone's first surgery?
I am stuck in a Catch 22 with my PCP and my surgeon. So I have no idea when my surgery will be.However when I do have it it will be the first one I ever had. I also am scared about being put to sleep and what to expect as far as the pain and how I will get rid of the gas as I can't walk.
