Unable to Afford/Pay for Post WLS Vitamins? Want a Free 3 Mos Supply?
This is wonderful news too. I have finished my 6 month supervised diet with the WL surgeon. I still haven't been approved yet. Once I am I will have my 4-5 hour class the week before my surgery. I will present this to them at that time and hope I get approved for the freebies. Being on disability and getting these free will certainly help out. Thanks for posting this.

December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
No I have not! I know the Dr can't do the surgery until he gets back from his out of the country Holiday vacation sometime in Jan. Plus they submitted it despite the fact that they didn't have the breathing and stress tests and PCP medical clearance and medically necessary forms yet. When I asked why they said those other things they would add as they got them from the Doctors. So I guess they submitted an incomplete report. I see the Cardiac Dr for the results of the stress test today. My PCP was waiting to get all the test results before he writes the medical clearance and medically necessary form. So I will call my PCP today to schedule an appt with him for his clearance then after the surgeon office submits everything I will call insurance if I do not hear within a week,

At 2 weeks post-op, my non VSG world shattered. I am trying to pick up the pieces...
Did I read this correctly is what I said to myself when I first read it? So I read it again. 48 hours of chemo and he was back at work on Friday. What a COURAGEOUS son you have!! I would be devastated if I had gotten such news at such a young age. May we all gather strength to face our challenges from your son. You raised such an incredible man. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and your whole family.

Phew....What A Relief, Approved!
So glad to hear you finally got approved. Do you have a surgeon date also? Good luck with everything. I too have been waiting and waiting to get approval. My 6th visit with the WL Surgeon was Monday Nov 23rd. They submitted my paperwork despite the fact that I still had a breathing test and a stress test to do and am waiting the results of the stress test. The Surgeon leaves next week for his out of the country Holiday vacation. We are looking at Jan. I am sure that will be more money that I will have to give out and I am on disability. Plus here I am today trying to arrange for someone to come out and look at my Hamar lift that gets me in and out of the house and is not working. Sorry to be venting on your thread but things aren't looking good for me this Holiday season.

I have Coventry which I believe is under Aetna now. My surgeons office submitted the Monday before Thanksgiving and I am still waiting.

Can VSG work with coffee?
Each Surgeon is different in many different subjects. As for coffee mine said no coffee or tea for the first 2 months after surgery due to it being hard on the new tummy while it is healing and coffee causes dehydration. After week 8 I am able to drink coffee again. It really depends on who you have as a surgeon. Mine also says NO Snacking only 3 meals a day.

December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
I called the surgeon's office today to see if the Pulmonary Dr did indeed send out the Pulmonary Clearance on Wed like he said he would. Well guess what, he didn't! However the case manager at the surgeon's office did tell me she submitted all the paperwork she had to my insurance despite not having the Pulmonary, Cardiac and Medical Clearance yet. So we shall see what happens. I am not expected a surgery date until sometime in Jan as the surgeon is going out of the country Dec 15 until the New Year.

3 times 10 does not equal 70!
My surgeon happens to be one of them. It states in his 29 page folder he gave me on the first day I saw him 3 meals a day and no snacking. It is even one of his 4 rules. Rule 1 Eat your Protein first. Rule 2 drink your required amount of Water every day. Rule 3 eat 3 meals no snacking. Rule 4 exercise. He asked me several times during this 6 month supervised diet what are the 4 after surgery rules? I am still waiting to get my surgery, so I can't tell you how well Rule 3 works.

Happy dance
Congratulations on the 50 pounds gone. You are looking great, a big difference can be seen. Keep going strong and you will get to your goal. I also use my highest weight as my starting weight and I am still waiting for surgery. Hopefully in Jan as paperwork was submitted to the insurance last week.

Surgery Today!
I'm also having mine in January, probably before 15th It must feel great to know you have a date. I am heading into the Holidays having no date and my last supervised diet appt with the Dr was last Monday. Now I have to wait and try to keep losing during the Holidays.

Surgery Today!
Good to hear all went well. Are you home yet? Are you getting in all your Protein? I am hoping my surgery will be in Jan.

Unjury, blech - I believed you guys!
I have purchased Protein bars from our very own BariatricPal Store and they sent me 4 samples of single serve Syntrax nectar. By the way their prices are better than the previous place mentioned in this post.

December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
Hi All The latest update on my testing. I had the breathing test yesterday. The one giving me the test kept making me do it over and over again. She also gave me 2 shots of an inhaler and some oxygen. She kept telling me to blow out faster than I was. I thought something was wrong. When I finally saw the Pulmonary Dr he said I passed and he gave me the clearance. Now I need to wait until Dec 2nd and 3rd for my 2 day stress test, then I will get the PCP Dr to give me my medical clearance and medically necessary form. It seem to have been a long time but since June I have lost 35 pounds. Come Jan I hope to have my surgery. Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!

3 times 10 does not equal 70!
I also wondered about that as my Dr says 3 meals a day and NO SNACKING. So how do I get to the required Protein he wants me to have after surgery once I am allowed to eat again. I guess do what Elode does! So a protein shake is not considered a meal after you start eating food again?

Ups and Downs of that first few days after surgery.
Tylenol #3 is a prescription medicine. Thanks for that info. I see my Dr again tomorrow so I will ask if he plans to give me a prescription for it.

Endoscope-painful?
My doc also did a biopsy with my endoscopy...the endoscopy is to check for any abnormalities in your upper GI tract. The actual biopsy checks for bacterial infections that could be problematic after surgery. I was told it takes 2 weeks for the results of the biopsy to come back. Thank you both for the info. I do have an umbilical hernia but the Dr wants to leave it in. Hopefully I do not have any bacterial infection.

Ups and Downs of that first few days after surgery.
So glad the meds your wife got worked. This Tylenol 3 is it an over the counter product and is it liquid? How expensive is it? What other kinds of meds did she get if I may ask? I will be having my surgery sometime in 2016 and am beginning to get the supplies I will need. Also was wonder if anyone knows are we allowed to bring (ACT® Dry Mouth Lozenges which are uniquely formulated to stimulate saliva flow and fight the harmful effects of dry mouth) to the hospital? I am reading that some people have to go for over 24 hours before they can have anything to drink because they haven;t had the leak test. I always have dry mouth and as a result I get a sore throat. I can't imagine going that long without my ACT.

6 month non-surgical weight loss regimen?
Go to the top of the page to the little wheel in the upper right hand corner by your name. When you do a left click on it you will see in the right hand list my tickers.

Endoscope-painful?
My surgeon told me he is doing mine just before the sleeve surgery. Has anyone had it done then? What are they looking for? What happens if they find something will the sleeve be canceled? I see my surgeon for the last of 6 visits this Monday. Maybe I should ask him for more info but I thought I would ask you all first.

December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
Glad to hear 1vivacious you got your surgery date before Jan. Yes I do feel like they are putting me through the ringer but I know it is to make sure I wake up from the surgery. Being 60 in Jan and still having a BMI of over 50 I would rather they all be safe then me be gone. I have a lot more living to do and I want to live it to the fullest.

6 month non-surgical weight loss regimen?
I met once a month for 6 visits with my WLS surgeon who weighed me and discussed all I had done in the past to try to lose weight and keep it off. We spoke about my co-morbidities, the type of surgery I wanted and what exercise I was currently doing. I had been following Nutrisystem before I met him so for the first month he told me to continue to follow it and document on another site what I ate. After the first month he told me to get off of that program and follow a high Protein low carb diet. I was given a blue folder of all that will happen at the hospital and the diet plan to follow after surgery and his 4 rules I must follow. The blue book explained all about the surgery as did the Dr. I was given a check list of all the tests I had to go to as well as meet with the NUT once and get a mental health clearance. Additional testing was added after certain Drs met with me. When the Cardic Dr saw the EKG he asked for a stress test. When the Pulmonary Dr saw me he also asked me to do a breathing test.
