The Bariatric Pal Store here had sample packs of the Syntrax Nectar that I use. I would highly recommend it against any others for quality and taste.

This ^^^^^^ I would never use that brand. Already see that they are dishonest.

I am 3 weeks out and feel exactly the same. Even the small stuff wears me out. We have to give ourselves time to recover from major surgery. It will get easier with time.

I always liked Premier Protein since I had my sleeve done back in early 2018. I tried to drink it afterrevision and not only does it taste nasty, I can’t keep it down.
I am strictly using Syntrax Nectar mixed with fairlife milk now. chocolate Truffle tastes just like chocolate milk with zero Protein taste.
May the least go to the grocery store and get the fairlife milk to drink. It has 13 grams per 8 ounces. If you can get 4-5 cups per day in you can hit your protein goals. You could get Hershey’s Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup and make chocomilk if you like.
there are also several different clear Protein Drinks that may settle better with you. Protein 20 and premier makes some as well. Do your best to get the protein in as that is extremely important for healing.

Just wanted to let you know that as soon as my bypass was done I had no reflux whatsoever! My surgery was on November 12th, and I feel great. I started at 176, my SW 157, CW 142
Anyone out there getting the bypass for acid reflux it's going to have a nice surprise because it takes it away almost instantly I haven't had one problem and I haven't had to take any Prilosec.

Better photo to highlight the losses, since you can see my side view better.

I feel pretty damn good. Migraine and anxiety disorders causing a feedback loop that triggers each other, but that's another story. I can do so much now it's amazing. I just love going out and doing stuff. I don't mind when people look at me, I don't instantly think they are all "omg that fat guy is gross". I've gotten lots of looks and smiles now. I feel like I did when I was 18-20... less the back pain LOL

    I had VSG June 15, 2015
    HW: 357 pounds/size 24
    Goal: 185 Pounds
    CURRENTLY: 140 Pounds/Size 2
I couldn’t be happier, you’d never know I used to weigh more than double my current weight. I reached my goal in January of 2017, had a Tummy Tuck April of 2017, and continued to lose weight after for some reason. 13 pounds of skin removed.

I could not agree with this more. You paid this dr and she is supposed to be working for you. I would get a second opinion for sure. Any decent dr would totally understand that.
Really too bad if she doesn’t. This is your health and your life on the line.

Can your husband do some of the calling? He probably would love to - it's really hard for our spouses when this happens... they feel so powerless. Don't be afraid of making her 'angry'... she is being paid to help you! It just sounds to me like you need to actually get in front of her, with your husband, and ask some questions and get her to clarify. That is her job and her responsibility to you. If she truly can't help you, then she should refer you on to someone who can! Let your husband be your advocate if he wants and can ❤️

If you have ANY doubts, check with your doctor. That's what they are there for. And if it gets any worse, go to your ER. It's not worth taking risks if you feel something is wrong.

This thread turned harsh pretty quick ...
I actually chose a VSG because I didn't want to risk dumping. It was important to me to be able to eat "normally" post WLS. I didn't want to have any off limits foods.

Losingit2018 got a reaction from GreenTealael in I am SO hungry!!! Conversion Surgery Sleeve to Bypass
My experience was opposite. I was sleeved early 2018. Never lost my appetite with the sleeve. Hunger was a constant battle.
Revised to bypass 4 weeks ago and have to force myself to eat. Never hungry and nothing tastes the same as it did pre op.
I am following dr plan to the letter. If you were to go off plan and eat carbs you may find that they either make you sick or even more hungry. Possibly both.
Try to increase Fluid intake and stick to plan. Call your dr if you still find hunger to be troublesome. Maybe they will have some ideas for you.
I can barely get a few teaspoons of dense Protein in and I am stuffed.
Good luck and hang in there!

Yes. I had it for the first two weeks after bypass revision. Dr said this is common with rny. Told me to drink a shake or something with just a bit of sugar when I have these episodes. They seem to have stopped now though.

It actually works very well for some folks. I have a family member that has been doing well for years taking it in combo with a few other meds.
If it is not working well for you, do not hesitate to see your dr and try something else. There are many things out there. You just have to find what works for you.
What I have seen some people do that are attempting to restart their weight loss is go back to basics. Start where you were just after surgery. Do liquids then soft foods, etc. always be sure to get Protein first.
    Good luck!!!

Losingit2018 reacted to okayestmom in Completed tummy tuck and thigh liposuction
I got a Tummy Tuck with muscle repair and liposuction on December 11th. The surgical staff at the VA were awesome. Some of the staff remembered me from my gallbladder surgery (probably helps that there are not that many woman). I let them decide what was best for my belly button. They ended up doing a hybrid of part of my cord and added a little to it (they removed my outie when I had my gallbladder surgery). My stomach is definitely flat and everything looks good. Can’t really tell about the thighs yet because I still have some swelling, but I can fit in my jeans, so not to bad.

Lessons learned- my surgery was same day and I slept an hour past my pain meds after returning home. Significantly pain that first night! Got easier each day. I did have to call the second or third day to get a lesser pain reliever because the morphine based one was knocking me out. They gave me tramadol at my request and it worked great. I didn’t need all of them, but was glad to have a little more given the climate of opioid prescribing now days. I got on the treadmill, but the rubbing of the compression garment hurt, so I am trying to move but not do to much at once. Also, don’t sneeze or cough! Well, the last one can’t be helped, but it does still hurt when that happens.

Glad I bought compression garments for my legs. The surgeon ordered mine through the VA. The prosthetic department (same department that provides my knee braces which I am able to use less and less after weight loss) called me and said I could come pick them up. Waited 2 hrs to be fitted and then told they didn’t have my size. They ordered them and they arrived at my house yesterday. They told me I would be receiving 2 pair, but there are 8 pairs of mid thigh compression socks/hose in the box. I will return them to the VA after the holidays. My husband wanted me to complain about the wait and whatnot, but my thinking is what other health plan actually provides you with free compression garments. Also, they take patients in order of arrival time and a lot of the people waiting are missing limbs (the younger ones break my heart a little, but seeing them walk in on titanium is pretty cool).

Best part of the follow up was that the Doctor seemed genuinely interested in whether or not I was happy with the results. I go back on the 30th for another follow up.

I hope they are able to help more weight loss patients because the studies that have been done show that the patients that pursue plastic surgery keep more weight off at the 10 year mark. I did learn that the VA would have covered my weight loss surgery as well, but the Doctor in the women’s clinic lied to me and said the VA did not cover weight loss surgery. I switched to my husbands doctor due to communication issues with the women’s clinic and inability to get a simple bladder infection treated. My first visit to that clinic was a bit traumatic as well. Patient came out crying loudly and her friend was threatening to call the media, not sure what her issue was, but I believe she was in pain and not getting the help/drugs she needed. I like the Doctor and team I am assigned to now, but just learned he retired. My husband has seen the Nurse Practitioner he was replaced with and said it went well.

So, like any health plan there is good and bad, but I believe most people there genuinely want to help patients.

    Thanks for all the advice!

I will post some before and after pics after my next follow up.

go back to what you did the first year or two post-surgery (NOT all the way back to liquids, but Protein first, then veggies, and then, if you have room left, a small serving of fruit or "good" carb (like whole grains)). Measure and weigh things so you know exactly how much you're eating. And track everything. Regular exercise is good, too, if you're not doing that already.
I still weigh myself every day and track everything that goes into my mouth (I'm 4.5 years out). When I stop monitoring for more than a few days, my weight starts heading north. It's a constant battle, but do-able..
