  1. It probably varies. I saw my surgeon two weeks after surgery. I just saw the PA at the two month mark. My next appt. is at six months.
  2. I just did on April 1st. I started the process last June but it took forever to get medical records from a former doctor.
  3. Actually I have Unitedhealthcare Medicare Advantage. That may be the difference.
  4. Medicare also required 6 months of nutition visits to show a commitment to losing weight.

    PAIN

Call your doctor and get a more effective painkiller. I didn't feel any pain for the 3 days post up bc I took oxycodone as directed. Don't suffer if you don't have to.

Lost my taste for plain water

I always have a metallic taste in my mouth and have trouble drinking plain water too.
  8. I don't think so. Follow your doc's program. I'm 6 weeks out and just started walking more regularly and just started seeing regular loss. Your body is healing now and trying to figure out what happened. I couldn't walk at much as you do at 2 weeks. I get that we all want to blink and be at goal weight but it takes time. We didn't gain it all overnight.
  9. My thinking always is: if I am taking in 400 calories daily and burning 1800 a day that leaves a deficit of 1400 a day times 7 divided by 3500 calories a pound means we should lose about 3.5 lbs. a week. Maybe not every week but as an average. This works for everyone. It's science. Be patient. This formula works for every kind of dieting!

    ❤ MAY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

I recently had sleeve surgery. It is human nature to fall off the wagon and I know that some day it will happen to me. I'm curious when you say "binge". Does that mean the same as before surgery or are you still limited by your stomach size? Does it mean you ate unhealthy food? I worry that one day I wll eat the way I got to where I am now. Appreciate your feedback.

    Started the process this morning!

I'm doing great. There are normal challenges that are part of surgery of any kind. Some manageable pain, soreness at the incision, constipation. All were easily fixed. Ask for zofran when you leave the hospital for nausea. The hardest part was to try and keep food interesting during each stage. I find that I enjoy my small meals if they are very flavorable. Some foods didn't sit well so I have waited another week to try again. I'm down 28 lbs. so no complaints here. It's a process with a learning curve. Your mom will be such a great resource. Best of luck.

    Started the process this morning!

Good on you! I made the decision for the same reason. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. It may be different for you but my pre op took quite a while but I had to do six months with a nutritionist before the other steps could begin. If that is the case for you then please be patient. Eventually surgery day comes. I'm just a month post op.
  14. I did bc my stomach felt ready but I did eat really slowly. I didn't do well with eggs for several weeks.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

April 1st sleeve. In soft/solid stage. I find that if I add flavor and light spice to my food I enjoy my food better. For instance I add salsa to canned chicken and really enjoy the taste. Just tried Wendys chili last night and it was yummy. Seeing energy levels get better. Started gym on Tuesday. Overall. I feel like I'm doing well.
  17. I am just starting week 4 but my doctor's plan is only 2-3 tablespoons of food per meal plus one or two snacks. All meals are spaced out every three hours. I am eating around 400 calories a day but you should follow your doctor's food plan.

    BUffalo NY

I was less concerned about the hospital and looked for the best surgeon I could find. As it turned out he is affiliated with a Center of Excellence hospital and is bariatric certified. Hope you get some responses.

Milky Protein NO MAS!!! I need help!

Buy unflavored protein powder and add a teaspoon to chicken broth, chicken soup, thinned out refried beans, etc. I eat Genepro and I can't taste it if I mix it really well. Each teaspoon is 10 g of protein.

Lots of gas when I try to drink

I couldn't eat or drink much the day after surgery. I mostly drank water an ounce at a time very slowly. I am only two 1/2 weeks out and frequently burp and pass gas. I always feel better when I do. I think it's normal.
  22. I take chewable vitamins I found on Amazon. I let them dissolve in my mouth and then swallow. This is working well for me.
