I found it difficult to swallow regular vitamins for the first month because of the inflammation in my stomach even if I split them in half. I ended up getting the soft chews and chewables. Gummies were a no no with my surgeon too.

Good luck.

I found a tropical fruit variety but they were very tart. Other than what you found I haven't been able to find any others. -
I'm three and a half months out and I still don't get that much protein in. My doctor told me to do the best that I can. That's what I do.
-
My surgeon told me to focus on liquid over protein that early out. Three months out there are days I don't hit the protein and fluid minimums. I do the best I can.

Issues with Pre-op diet
Colorado Cowgirl replied to Matthew2045's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is hard. Harder than after surgery I think. After surgery I wasn't hungry at all. Drinking may help to stave off the hunger. Hang in there! -

New Convert of the Sleeved

Bad diabetes can lead to limb amputation, kidney failure and dialysis as well as insulin dependence. I watched my father die a painful death from diabetes. Pre diabetes is what prompted me to do the sleeve in April. Maybe it's just me but I would rather not eat bacon and pizza the rest of my life than die the slow death my dad did. Just saying... -
If you are doing everything your team requires, you are not doing anything wrong. You will stall as your body adjusts to all the changes. It happened to me but the weight will come off.

Taco Bell chili. Yummy.

I drank protein shakes and mixed unflavored protein powder into sf pudding, broth and applesauce. It was hard at first to get it all in.

This is major surgery and the normal post surgery conditions will apply. Gas, sore throat, incision pain and stomach distress. I was very fatigued for several weeks as a result of the surgery and decreased caloric intake. Many people refuse pain medication but not me. I took it as directed and stayed agead of the pain and experienced very little discomfort. Your stomach will be very swollen for several weeks and uncomfortable. Sip very very slowly and wait between sips. You may feel some pain in your chest when you drink. Wait for it to pass. I found warm chicken broth the easiest to tolerate that first week. I did not stress out about meeting the fluid and protein requirements and just did the best I could. Three months out I still don't meet the recommended fluids but get close. The first week I was hormonal and doubted my decision but that passed in several days. I'm not going to lie. The 1st month is tough. Three months out I am 52 lbs down and feel great. A stall will happen but stay on course bc it will pass. It is all normal. The weight will not magically fall off 48 hrs after surgery. At this point I lose about half a lb daily and weigh twice a week. I am 67 yrs old and this surgery will extend my life. That was my purpose. Relax and just ride it out. The journey is worth it. Best of luck.

It took me two months to hit 45 grams of protein and at 3 months I stll can't get fluids in. Relax and enjoy the journey.

Buying a new piece of clothing is my non food reward for my hard work and to feel pride in my new emerging body. I also shop at thrift stores.

Week 2: Nausea/Heartburn after eating anything
Colorado Cowgirl replied to AlexaRosalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may be too soon for you to transition to thicker liquids. I had that happen early on and waited a few more days to start those foods. Your stomach is still very swollen I would imagine. -

1 Month Post Op Gastric Sleeve - Mexican Restaurant
Colorado Cowgirl replied to PatchofHeaven's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've eaten Taco Bell reftied beans since week three. It's such a small amount that I don't think lowfat matters much. The beans are the protein. Enjoy. You can always check with your team and your program. -
You need to rest and sleep. You had major surgery. It takes a while to get the anesthesia out of your system. And you are taking in very few calories. I was exhausted for several weeks. I think it's totally normal. You have the rest of your life to walk. Be kind of yourself!
