  1. Hi, my husband's insurance is changing to UHC in Jan. and after my consult I was informed I will need five years of proof of morbid obesity. I think my BMI was betweem 34-35 for one of the years do you think this will cause me to be denied? Does the five years just need to show you have been overweight or actually morbidly obese category? I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this? Thanks
  2. Thanks so much, that really helped. I still have a lot to think about, it's nice to know that people understand where I am coming from.
  3. Hi. I have been researching the Lap Band for almost two years, I feel very confident that I know pretty much everything I can expect with it. I just feel so lost. I am so worried that people will think I am a failure and am disgusting or something for doing this. I feel afraid to not depend on food anymore. Giving up the way I eat and the things I eat, which I know is why I am over weight. But, thinking about it all is really scary. I just wonder if I will be the same person, will I be obsessed with food, calories.. will people love me more if I am thin? I dont know I just am so unsure. The biggest reason I want to have it done is so I can tell my children some day that I made the choice to be healthy and live a long life to be with them. I feel like my parents didn't choose to be healthy for me and they are slowly killing themselves with obesity. I dont want my children to think that about me. Sorry to go on and on.. I just am not sure where I should go from here. I really want the band some days and then others it feels so frightening to give up everything I know and change myself. Has anyone gone through this? I need help. I know its what I want/need but it is so scary.
  4. yay! I am from AZ also! I am just starting the process and have my consult next week. Who is doing your surgery? Hopefully we can keep eachother updated. I also am looking for a walking buddy if you live close. I live in Avondale. Thanks!

hugs to you! I have a Bi-cornuate uterus, and had both of my babies premature.. so I know how you are feeling with the ups and downs. I hope everything turns out ok! meg
  6. thats awesome, thanks I am going to do the three month diet hopefully too. I also dont think I have pcp records, but I do have obgyn records when I had my babies, do you think they will work? Its just to prove that you were overweight for so many years right?
  7. That is awesome! I am just starting the process with Aetna, any suggestions? I want to make sure everything is A ok and smooth!! Thanks
  8. Hi I am in az too! I wish you a speedy recovery, I am just starting this whoel process.. where did you get your surgery done? Did you like your surgeon? Thanks Meg
  9. Hi, I am glad to find out some women are in the same boat as me! I just had my DD on 1/15/08 and am still nursing. I plan to nurse her to at least the first year. My question is, can you still be approved the same to have your surgery done while you are nursing? I was thinking like that other post I would just nurse before surgery and then when I got home. I am worried about her the most. I hope that I get approved and can still nurse my little girl! Thanks
  10. What is the after program like? Do you attend the support groups? And what hospital did you have the surgery at?
  11. I am just starting the process, and I have looked into a few Dr.'s I was wondering who you guys felt really comfortable with. I went to the group information meeting with Dr. Simpson. I found his office to be kinda old looking, and he seemed kinda "smart alecy" when I asked him a few things. I have heard he has put the most bands in in AZ, but I am just not sure how I feel about him. Please let me know how you feel about your Dr's and pros cons.. I am on the West side so it might be hard for me to travel very far for support groups in such but if it's the right DR. I might be willing to. Thanks :confused2: I am in Avondale
