Krestel got a reaction from FluffyChix in International Cross-Country Hiking - Diet Issues
Why not just take some Protein Powder and Meal Replacement powder (that you like ofc)? I know that this is something that I will always have with me when travelling on long trips (besides my Vitamins of course). It shouldnt weigh that much and as long as you have access to clean Water, you have your "meal" with you. Besides that, since it is powdered and isnt liquid, you can get through airport security with it in your hand luggage.
I have a Protein powder with no sugar added and no sweetener that I mix with various things like PB2 and instant coffee. That also is a good idea to bring with you. The rest of the group will love you if you bring coffee!

Krestel got a reaction from Frustr8 in I had my Gastric Bypass reversed 😞
Ive tried looking up exactly where this is on the body, but couldnt quite figure this out so I'm guessing. I really only have the word posterior and the google search I get lead me to the pelvic region.
So....
Does this mean that you officially are (hehe...oops I mean have) a pain in the butt? Jk

If you look at the text that is hidden (show more) in the description you can see a list of "restaurants that are known to accept and accommodate our WLS card."

Hey great to see you!! Yes it happens frequently to RNY people. There is a point between 2 major blood supplies where they access the stomach. It’s on our left by the spleen adjacent to the stomach and being MO this area is ripe with fat. Sometimes the doc uses a stitch in there to close it and other times they leave it open. She left mine open and because I lost so much and lost the deep internal fat, that hole became bigger cuz it wasn’t filled with fat anymore. So it was big enough for the small intestine to slip through and tangle with the omentum (a blood rich net of fat that wraps over the peritenium and protects the organs within). So they had to work out and untangle the si and put I back in the sack and close the hole up. 😳

Thanks for sharing this. Even if the surgery works for almost everyone, even the "failures" need to be talked about openly. Im looking forward to hearing about how things work out. Since it's not a common procedure, your experience will be interesting to hear about. Just another side of the bariatric journey.

You soooo funneh! Was it open surgery or laproscopic?
On a side note: When i was in the hospital during surgery, there was another guy in my room who had had surgery for a twisted intestine. He was a healthy kid in college. So even if it's more common in bariatric patients, twisted gut still happens to normies.

Krestel got a reaction from Astrid05 in Bariatric Support
Im European based as well and even though my surgery has been covered by the public health care system, the information hasnt been quite as detailed as that from the States. But like many have already pointed out..this forum is great for support and filling in the blanks when we all have questions (or just want to rant about our bariatric life).

Krestel got a reaction from cris20495 in How many calories do you eat a day?
I happened to find this study (2018) that was looking at exactly this question (but was comparing RNY and lapband 3 months out from surgery):
https://www.oatext.com/pattern-of-calorie-and-macronutrient-intake-after-bariatric-surgery-in-patient-with-obesity-a-clinical-trial.php
"After one month, patients educated to have 800-1000 low fat, protein-rich regular diet and allowed to increase their intake to 1000-1200 kilocalorie per day 3 months after surgery."
They also mentioned that patients from other studies were not reaching the recommended Protein intake.
A really academic read but if you are into that kind of stuff, it's interesting.

Oh, I just thought of a new one.
Being able to wear high heels without killing my feet because I'm too heavy and think I look horrible.
