  1. I live a ways away from my surgeon, though not Mexico far by any means! As far as post-op surgical support -one thing I have done is figure out, God forbid, where I would go hospital wise if there is a true emergency issue that would keep me from making the long trip back to my surgeon's hospital. I picked a hospital that is close to me and also has a true bariatric program. While any hospital can deal with emergencies, I figure it is better to go where they would have someone familiar with the surgery and complications. Not likely to need it, but a good back up for a worst case scenario and a best plan B if I do. Just something to consider as a pre-game plan for you. Congratulations and good luck!
  2. I am glad you got good news from the hemotologist! That is great!!!!! Here's to that antibiotic getting you to the all clear soon. ? And you will still be an honorary June Surgery member no matter what your date... Keep on keeping on!
  3. Weirdly, I am more and more calm as the 3rd approaches..... (Subject to change, no doubt!!!!!) I dunno, I think I have just settled into the idea that this is what I have to do and that I have done as much pre-work as I can at this point. The rest will take care of itself, one way or the other. I am actually most afraid of conquering trials as time goes on, years down the road. I have to trust that I will be ready to do the hard work then too, I guess. All that said, I could be calm as F*^K cause I am drinking 400 calories a day now too. My fear cells have probably just starved...
  4. This one made me pee a little.... Baaa Haaa HAAA!
  5. I will be three days ahead of you, Samantha! Welcome to the group!
  6. Hey, @Samantha T ! That is GREAT news! I am so happy for you! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I will be just 3 days ahead of you- best of luck to you!
  7. I decided to Photoshop us a "Get Real Edition" of Women's Health Magazine. The one you are never going to see on the new stand... To be taken as humor only, of course! Just sarcasm from a girl on day three of liquids only.
  8. This is my day two of the liquid diet. Yeah, never thought I'd be so happy to eat a bowl of creme of wheat either....
  9. Congratulations to both of you! It will be here before you know it!
  10. Sending you lots of good wishes- you will do great!
  11. I have this one. Kind of a hybrid between a basket style and the other. It holds A LOT of food on the three racks. (Good since I still feed the hubby and a teen boy.) I really love it so far. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Power-6-Quart-AirFryer-Oven-Plus-Black/986978174
  12. For those struggling with CPAP, or afraid of the aeorphagia as the weight drops off, you might look into an APAP machine. APAP doesn't just give a singular setting or pressure like traditional CPAP, but instead auto adjusts the pressure literally breath by breath throughout the night. It only ever delivers the pressure needed to maintain the airway at each minute. Your sleep doctor might be willing to give you a loaner or it could be rented short term. For myself, it is still possible that I could, as I lose weight, dip below my pressure ranges that are set by my Doctor on even on my APAP. However, I do feel better that at least if/when that happens it isn't still blowing air into my stomach at a full force setting for months on end. I could then have it adjusted to even lower ranges for the APAP, if needed. I dunno, just a thought. Oh the joys of OSA...?
  13. This above is what i was referring to... However, if that is the recommendation of your team i think you should listen to them. My surgeon isn't "selling" anything, to be clear. He actually requires proof of purchase of at least one month of vitamins that meet ASMBS guidelines as a pre surgery requirement. (Bought anywhere.) I mentioned this site as it is a start for a search as well as anything online. Just easy is all. Guess you can (and should) question all kinds of sources...
  14. Flintstones vitamins are not really optimal for bariatric patients. Try looking in the store here on this site or online for vitamins formulated for people who have had weight loss surgery. Some are once a day, some are two or more- depending on the formula. You will also need calcium citrate for sure and possibly others depending on the vitamin you select and your own personal needs. Talk to your surgeon for specifics on your case. Good Luck!
  15. As a teacher I always had a water bottle handy in class. No one ever gave it a second look. Now, getting bathroom breaks was a whole different thing! I think I only peed before and after the school day for years and years. Teachers develop an iron bladder, I think. ?
  16. Hi! Welcome! I am also a June 3rd bypass, It will be here before we know it!
  17. Hi and welcome! The stopping smoking is awesome, congratulations! That is not easy! I haven't had my surgery yet, but I think taking vitamins is a good thing. Might as well get as healthy that way as you can. I think the most important thing you can do now is read/ learn here from the vets on the site. They can give you a perspective of not only your short term outlook, but what really counts- maintaining the weight loss after the honeymoon period of "easy" weight loss is over. Excited for you and wish you well on your journey!
  18. Hey, congratulations on the weight loss! That's awesome! I actually have another perspective for you on this. I have previously lost 90 pounds at a time before (which put me at a pretty "normal" weight for several years) and then have run into people I had not seen in awhile at functions. I, like you, anticipated that people might comment and was a little weirded out by the possible attention and questions. (I am pretty reserved in groups.) Guess what? Nobody said anything! Nada. Zip. Zilich. Even the people who I feel like I am pretty close to... people who I DO talk to on the regular. Friends. So then I left feeling a little bad that no one "noticed". LOL! I had to remind myself that it didn't matter, that at least some noticed (no doubt) and were too jealous/uncomfortable to bring it up. Weight talk is tricky! Some people will be happy for you, but be afraid to say anything. Others may not be as happy for you as it brings up there own issues and so they also don't comment. Some just don't give a fig... etc. On the other hand, you may get some comments and questions. Who knows? Decide what/ if/ how much you care to say ahead of time so you have a clear plan and stick to it. If nothing else, I think most people like to talk about themselves, so say your pre-planned statement and then ask them something about themselves quickly with lots of follow up questions. ? Enjoy your upcoming function and your new found success! You deserve it! ?
  19. Found this article a few years ago and really loved it- thought someone else might enjoy it too. ? Hope I finally got the link to work! http://www.oprah.com/spirit/strategies-to-deal-with-every-phase-of-major-life-changes
  20. I am sorry, I am sure that is really tough emotionally on a couple of levels. You are going to come through this, whatever comes your way, and when you do you will go into your surgery knowing all is well. Both body and mind will be clear and you will be ready for all the good things coming your way. Hang tough, you moved a few mountains to get this far, climb this last peak. You deserve to enjoy the view! Know that you are in my thoughts and keep us posted. ?
  21. Welcome Patsydarling and ashleyymarieb ! Glad you are here! Welcome to the June group!
