    I need advice

I’m over three months post op and I have absolutely loved my bypass until a few weeks ago when it was time to go back to school. My stomach is making very loud noises during lectures and having 150 students look at me because it’s distracting them is beyond embarrassing for me. I’ve tried everything I can think of. Different foods, eating before lectures, even during. I tried not eating an hour before thinking maybe the noise was my stomach digesting. But no matter what I try I can’t seem to do anything about it and if this doesn’t change I don’t think I can handle being in class. It would suck to switch to online classes. Hoping any of you have tips on what might help!
  2. Next week I’ll be 3 months post op, so I thought I’d make another update. I’m 70lbs down and loving the process. Photos are 1 day post op VS now 🤗

    Dumping

Yeah I know what it is. Just curious of other people’s experiences with it shortly after surgery
  5. When did you experience dumping for the first time? Cause I’m over a month post op (bypass) and haven’t had it yet..
  6. So far I’m loving not being constantly hungry, I enjoy food more when I’m not inhaling it and I find healthier things more tasty than before. I haven’t had any complications or severe side effects and I barely feel like anything has been done (except when I’m eating of course). The not so great part at this point is not being able to drink water like I used to. I loooove chugging a huge glass of ice cold water and now I feel like I’m always thirsty even though I carry a bottle with me and sip constantly. Plus, I still can’t sleep on my stomach and it bugs me, but at least that’s temporary so it’s all good. All in all, everything is going well and in my case it’s definitely worth it even though it has only been four weeks.
  7. About time I do an update on here! Tomorrow I’ll be three weeks post op and so far I’ll say some things are exactly how I thought they’d be and others not at all. Food wise I’m not hungry but I don’t feel full after eating either. Like there’s zero sensation either way, and I don’t mind it but it means I’m still 100% dependent on the exact measurements of portions from my dietician to not eat too much or too little. I’m very careful about what I eat and I’m hesitant to try new things so I’m basically living off Protein Shakes and yoghurt. I’m sure it will get better, just need to be more comfortable with my new stomach first( I can’t wait to eat meat again omggg!) Physically I’m feeling good but I’m bummed I still can’t sleep on my stomach! It’s the only physical limitation I have now, except being tired more easily of course! So far I’m down 49lbs in total, 23lbs pre op and 26lbs post op.
  8. How odd. Mine had the exact same plan for both pre and post op for vsg and gbp patients
  9. Considering a lot of programs (including my own) allow cottage cheese at 1 week post op, I don’t see why it’s a big deal. Some people here need to take a chill pill. Even though the surgery is performed by different surgeons, it’s still the same surgery. Something that is recommended in some programs, isn’t going to be dangerous for others who have different rules. Of course I, like others here, recommend following instructions given. However, if you’re going to do things a little bit differently, you’ll be fine as long as you use common sense

    Idk about my surgeon

No, I got 1 week liquid and 3 week pureed. So about a month post op I can start incorporating normal foods little by little.
  11. -For my bf to hug me and his hands meet. -to sit comfortably in an airplane seat and put on the seatbelt. -to go a full work day without pain in my legs and fit my uniform. -to fit into the seats at university and walk to lectures without getting sweaty. -to sit on a chair with my hands resting in my lap. -go hiking and keep up with everyone

    Day 2 post op

Time to make an update on here. I’m out of the hospital and recovering at home now. I feel like I could write a novel on the past few days but to make it as short as possible: While waiting to be taken to the operating room on Monday I was told they couldn’t preform the surgery due to other more urgent patients. So I slept at a hotel and came back the next morning, and after a long wait I finally had surgery in the late afternoon on Tuesday. My hospital experience has not been great unfortunately. The only person who seemed to care was my very kind surgeon, everyone else had an attitude like “you chose this, deal with it”. Didn’t get a lot of painkillers, and I wasn’t allowed to have visitors. That being said; the pain was temporary and I’m doing well now. I was medically taken care of even though I felt emotionally neglected. I’m so happy this part is over and feel very motivated for the post op process!:) thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement

    Surgery Tomorrow 🎉 (5/13/19)

I’m also having surgery tomorrow. Nervous af, but we will be fine! At this point it’s basically a routine surgery at the hospital :) hope we both get some sleep tonight though

    Sick during surgery

They said it was fine! It’s definitely going to hurt more than necessary but just like you said rescheduling would be hell. There’s no way I’m waiting longer. So fingers crossed the cough is better by Monday

    Sick during surgery

Thanks guys:) yeah it’s definitely stressing me out. I have my last pre op appointment with them tomorrow morning so I’ll ask then. Hopefully I’ll be better and they won’t see it as a problem. Seriously don’t know what I’d do if they postponed it cause they’ve already hired a temp to fill in for me at work, my bf is taking time off, and I’ve put my exams on hold, fingers crossed y’all 😂🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
