I had bypass on 4/23/18. My starting weight was 340lbs. I'm currently 221lbs. That's a total weight loss of 119lbs! I honestly can't tell you a time I remember being this small my entire life. I'm so happy!
    First goal: 250lbs
    Second goal: 225lbs
    Third goal: 199lbs ...*pending*
    Final goal: 160-170lbs
I never worked out until this month. These last 22lbs until onederland are stubborn. I'm also doing Keto and intermittent fasting.
This surgery changed my life. I'm almost positive I would be closer to 400lbs by now if I didn't have this surgery.

Today a coworker just flat out asked if I had WLS. I haven't told anyone, and want to keep this private. I told her no, and I felt a little weird about denying it. I was really uncomfortable and I thought it was rude. She is very gossipy and I'm sure now she will be discussing this with others. I wish people would mind their own business.

I had my surgery jan 22 2018, I am about to be 13 months out. (34year old, 5'7)
What a journey. Started at 402lbs, a weight I now can't believe I had. it's crazy and unreal. My skin DOES reminds me that "hey you had that weight" but I am trying to have less floppy skin I wish I worked on it before but it's fine. And maybe tmi but also working on my breasts so they are less in a sad shape.
I don't necessarily eat well and I probably eat less that I am supposed to but I am proud.
13 months ago i was at 323.4lbs, today I am at 187.8, sometimes i gained 1-4lbs, then i lose it back and lose some more. I only really had one plateau that lasted a month, i had some plateau that lasted a week or even two but after weight somewhat catched up, losing in general from 6lbs to 10-12lbs per month, I still got a few to lose to not be in "bmi overweight" but i am no longer in obesity. I am focusing more on my skin then my weight loss.
I wouldn't say surgery changed my life, but yes it improved it. I sometime see myself bigger then I actually am. I am still afraid to sit in booth thinking I won't fit... yet i fit with space to go. my shirt size went from like 3x to M or L.

Stephy0618 reacted to S@ssen@ch in How come everything now tastes so salty!!
Here's my theory (not sure if it's founded in science, but here goes):
As a society, we've become more tolerant of salt and sugar to the point where we're kind of "taste blind" to it. During the pre-op and immediate post-op period, you're on a very specific and restricted diet. You've essentially purged sugar and salt from your diet. So, when you start introducing these things again, you're more sensitive to it.

I have been feeling the same way. I’m hungry all the time. 6 days out from surgery. I want to eat something ANYTHING that will make me feel full. It’s discouraging. I don’t want to screw up and eat (drink) the wrong thing but I feel like I’m starving myself.

So I woke up 4 days after surgery ready to eat my arm ! This after having no interest for the previous days . It is just ur stomach waking up . I did cottage cheese, yogurt and Soup and what really has helped (and I am now 7 weeks out ) is having a smoothie in the am with unsweetened almond milk(30 cal) Protein Powder and 1/2 of a banana that is sliced and frozen . Bananas really help to get that full but not overly stuffed feeling so I can go off and exercise . Ur sleeve will work when u eat real food but I found that during the liquid and purée phase I was more hungry more often because they just slid through quickly . I was easily eating 800 calories but then had a hard time getting over 500 with real food . Parameters from my doc are 600-800 cal, over 60g of Protein and under 60g of carb . Avoid sugar . I am exercising a lot lately and getting 800-1000 now , but till losing (when I drink enough Water )

I am 9 days post op and have to stay on liquid for 21 days. I am hungry and not sure how I will get through on broth and Protein Shakes for 12 more days. I go in for my 2 week Monday and hoping they will have suggestions on anything other than broth and Protein shakes. Feeling discouraged today

For me, the post-laproscopic 'air' pain was absolutely terrible. I was up and walking a little the day after the surgery, but I couldn't seem to fully get rid of that pain until like, day 3. I had my mom and fiance rubbing my shoulders while I was sobbing from the pain at some point... not fun at all.
I also wish that I'd known how much of a pain it would be being in the hospital. Nurses and technicians coming in at 4 in the morning to get my vitals, not letting me sleep, (Can I get an amen here?) And one of the IV pain medications that they gave me caused these horrible, painful knots along the path of the vein that the IV was in.
I'm also struggling with craving real food at the moment, since I'm now on my 4th week of liquid diet. Needless to say, I'm sick of Protein Shakes and broth.

I also wish I’d known how bad my mouth would taste - no matter how much I brush my teeth/use the Water pic/use mouthwash. It’s revolting. And I can’t imagine how my breath smells. :(

I only had skin on my thighs and hangy breast. My stomach looked great. Be careful and research your surgeon. I don't want you on that show Botched. LOL
