    Thanks all

It's really hard when it feels like the universe is against you. I need good news in my life right now so getting an approval would definitely help!

I started this process back in March. My insurance required 3 months of a supervised diet with my primary and she was a total pain in my ass, she rescheduled two of my appointments then took forever to get paperwork to my surgeons office despite me asking her to send it to my surgeon at the conclusion of my final appointment. Then the surgeons office had someone, who is "no longer there", that misplaced more of my paperwork so they had to request that stuff again too. Everywhere I looked the typical turn around time for approval with my insurance is about 3 working days, it's been a week and they're still reviewing it. They say it could take 15-30 days but I can feel free to call every day while waiting but the approval (or denial) letter would come via snail mail. I'm just starting to feel so discouraged. with this whole process.

This is where I'm at right now. I stick to my 3 meals and Snacks and just drink Protein and Water in between.

I'm dehydrated, I can tell by my skin. I've been really trying to chug some fluids but I feel like I just cannot get in all the recommended fluids each day. I saw my surgeon last week and he said just to try and get in as much as possible, he wants 60-80oz a day and some days I'm lucky to get 50 so I'm close, just feel like I need more. This whole not eating and drinking 30 minutes before and after and meals to take at least 30 mins to eat I feel like it's impossible to reach that amount of Water unless I'm up 24 hours a day. Also was upped to 60 grams of Protein a day and that's two of the premier shakes. Where the heck am I supposed to fit water in?!

Mine was a little different. I got to the hospital at the time they requested and didn't get called back until about 20 mins later, but from there I went to pre-op, got weighed, took a long trek back to my room, then she went over my allergies, medical problems, and what to expect then sent me to the bathroom for a pregnancy test.

After that she had me change into a gown and wipe down my abdomen and sides with these cleaning cloths, then she started my IV and I took a bunch of meds (acid reducer, gabapentin, and something else). Then my surgeon came by and we chatted, then the anesthesiologist stopped by and soon enough I was off to the OR. I didn't get any meds like versed or fentanyl prior to going back to the OR so I remember getting in the room and seeing how crowded everything looked because mine was done with a robot. I used to work in the OR so I'm used to seeing all of that stuff but seeing it for me was stress inducing (plus our robot rooms were much larger)! I got transferred to the OR table then had a mask on my face and it was lights out within seconds. I don't remember much until the next day really.

I get random hiccups that come out of nowhere too. Usually it's only 3 or 4 in a row but they're still obnoxious. I had my surgery on the 28th and they're starting to go down in frequency so I'm happy about that.

I did my psych eval pretty early on in the process but I think they're only valid for 6 months. Mine was simple, we chatted for a bit then I had to take three tests and based on our chat and the results of the tests I got the green light. He said I was a perfectionist with a slight touch of OCD which are actually good traits for someone having weight loss surgery.

I had to have a cardiac clearance as well but it just consisted of an EKG. Since that was all normal along with my chest x-ray and my pre-op lab work I didn't have to do anything beyond that.

Awww! You’re so sweet for checking in! Yesterday was better, I really pushed myself to get as much in as possible and I think I did better. I definitely hit that spot where I feel good to take another small sip then boom, the next tiny sip is a big mistake.

Ice is not friendly to me, I can do sugar free popsicles but not ice chips, I'm sipping constantly on Water too because I'm terrified of getting dehydrated.

I could've written exactly what you did. I was also set on the sleeve because I was scared of the malnutrition risks with the bypass, but like you, due to GERD I didn't know I had, the bypass was the best option. He also said that later on down the road I'd probably need the sleeve converted to a bypass and since another surgery was not what I wanted I went along with the bypass. In the end I know it's the right decision but since I'm only four days post op right now I'm not yet convinced LOL!

Mine was pretty straight forward, we went over my EGD results and changed the plan for surgery. I originally wanted the sleeve because the whole re-routing of intestine thing but due to having some damage from acid reflux he said the bypass was better in my case. I had to sign a consent from him in his office that outlined all the risks and possible side effects. We also went through everything I'd need at home after the surgery and when I'd follow up with both him and the nutritionist.

I also had to do a bunch of pre-op testing, I had to get a chest x-ray, an EKG, and a bunch of blood drawn. There were other things on the sheet I didn't have to do because they didn't pertain to me, such as a gallbladder ultrasound.
