  1. I've lost 70lbs so far and my tats look the same

I am soooooooooooo happy : ) I am finally under 200!!!! ...It was slow... 66 lbs down since Aug 15 2008 but it sooooo joyous when you finally reach it...HANG IN THERE EVERYONE...I have had lapses Cheese doodles...but its so worth it to get back on track...Actually 197lbs is better than cheese doodles!!!

  5. I had my second fill yesterday and as with the first I developed a rash at the port site. This time the rash was a bit more noticable..Has anyone ever had this problem? It doesnt itch.
  6. I had my surgery on 8/15 and have had no probelms...I am on mushies and soon to go onto real food. I love raw fish....Are raw oysters compatible with the lap band?

  9. Hi Lisa and welcome to this wonderful site..You have come to the right place for advice and support...I also live alone and in NY. I am being banded this friday at NYU Medical by Dr. Fielding...I suggest you go online and search lab band @ NYU. That site will give you a brief overview of WLS and give you times and dates for their seminars. As far as recovery I think it depends on the individual but I plan on being back at work on Wed. Good luck on your journey...I know it will be worth it.

  11. I feel as if I coming down with a sore throat and my surgery is this Friday....What should I do? Can you take antiobiotics prior to surgery?

  14. I met with the surgeon 2 months before my surgery....Thats when my insurance papers were submitted
  15. I submitted my insurance papers after I met with Dr. Fielding...He will bring you to Aja Washington after your meeting to schedule your surgery and she will submit your insurance papers then.
  16. I am being banded by Dr Fielding next week. I saw the same nutritionist that you will see and she basically she just explained the foods you will have to eat for pre and post op. It was a brief visit.
  17. Boy this is difficult..I'm supposed to have 5 slimfasts a days and I find them absolutely vile!!! I only had 2 yesterday and some steamed vegetables..I cheated and had 1 1/2 hard boiled egg whites..Hope this doesnt mess up my surgery...anyway did anyone else have a hard time with all liquids..are there any other liquid substitues for Slimfast that are drinkable...I'm very upset and have another 10 days to go...: (
  18. I start my pre-op diet on Friday and I have to be on liquids only, in this case slimfast optima, for 2 weeks. I agree with zukagirl22. Call your doctor to confirm that he/she does not require any dietery restrictions before surgery.
  19. I am being banded by Dr. Fielding on 8/15. I was able to get a surgery date within 6 weeks of my meeting with him. That of course was after I completed the 6 month pre-op diet required by my health insurance company, Aetna. Hope this helps and good luck in your journey.
  20. My surgeon, Dr. Fielding @NYU, has had a lapband for 9 years and he told me he has 2 alcoholic drinks everyday... I just would add the calories into my daily caloric total.
  21. Congrats..160lbs is remarkable...I plan on having plastic surgery as well. How did it go for you..How long was the recovery and did your insurance pay for it?
  22. My surgeon, Dr. Fielding @ NYU, has had his lap band for nine years and he's doing great...He looks quite svelte.
  23. Hi, I would also like to know what kind of pre-op diet you were on. I am being banded on Aug 15 and I have to be on "liquids only" for 2 weeks. I'm terrified of having an open band procedure.
  24. Any suggestions for mushies for a person who doesnt cook. I will buy soups but any other suggestions...Microwaving is not a problem.
  25. Yesterday I got my surgery date (Aug 15) with Dr. Fielding @ NYU....Hang in there...Its a process but I know it will be worth it...I think the team @ NYU is the best....
