August 28, 200817 yr I had my surgery on 8/15 and have had no probelms...I am on mushies and soon to go onto real food. I love raw fish....Are raw oysters compatible with the lap band?
August 28, 200817 yr As long as you eat them by themselves on an empty stomach, they should slide right through, I think. They are pretty slimy and pliable.
August 28, 200817 yr I am not really sure thats something you would wanna eat in the mushy stage. Once you have restriction too it might be a little tough getting em down.
August 28, 200817 yr The general rule is "chew until it's goo." I don't know if I would want to do that to a raw oyster. On second thought, there isn't anything I would want to do to a raw oyster.
August 28, 200817 yr raw oysters are basically goo to begin with. Phlem.... Oh, well that makes it sound SO much more appetizing!:tt2:
August 28, 200817 yr With good companions, good alcohol, cocktail sauce and crackers, it can be quite delicious.

LOL Dionna, I got banded on the 20th and I don't know from experience yet since I am still on my liquid diet BUT I think you are just going to have to try it and see how it works for you. You probably don't chew them much when you used to eat them, but you should chew it (or try at least) to help it get as small as possible- GOOD LUCK HUN! Let us know how is goes down
