Went out for lunch today and ordered the steak tip salad. Here’s my before and after. I barely touched it at the restaurant because I ended up eating one of my bfs potato skins and I got full quick 😕 I ended up finishing the salad at home, it was my only meal for the day. Plus a pineapple matcha latte with almond milk!

In the very first post @GreenTealael laid out the intent of this thread

"Like weight loss before and after photos but of your new diet !

I'm especially interested in before and after meal photos (take a pic at the point you feel restriction) but it can be of recipe substitutions, your refrigerator/pantry/shopping cart/etc"

If a more narrowly focused thread is of interest to you, they exist or you can create a new one.

I find this thread very helpful in gauging my own personal food consumption as we all evolve learning our new stomach capacity, and lifestyle habits with food. A good check and balances since we will never eat like normals or most around us whom are slender without WLS. After WLS food interaction can be a lonely plight without this invaluable fellowship. Ergo, thank you for pointing out the need for camaraderie and not criticism.

I was thinking vaccine! But you make a good point... LOL! Here's the seasoning version I found yesterday at Whole Foods market. Looking forward to trying it on a salad or veggies, but a little concerned that salt was listed as the 2nd ingredient. :[ Pickled beets and egg for Breakfast.

Gorgeous children! No doubt where they get their stunning looks... BTW, found some amazing 80% off black Friday sales on Champion gear yesterday at Macy's. I'll model them - as you mentioned once the kids love that brand + look. Me, too. I could hardly believe the fun and colorful things I found for Florida winters. All cropped styles for this shortie on her casual errand runs. $60+ garments under $10.00 each. Blue wind breaker - $4.34. Crazy!

Today’s lunch is oatmeal banana pancakes with low cal maple Syrup, a drizzle of almond butter, walnuts, a broken down cluster of granola, hemp seeds, chia seeds, and raw cacao nibs. I also microwaved some berries and used it as a sauce. First time having pancakes in YEARS.

I'm coming over for lunch! We freeze and use our leftover pancakes made with banana, oatmeal and cottage cheese batter into quick, little sandwiches. This was lunch yesterday - egg salad with that hint of banana. Yum.

Owned by the same family, but their parent companies split (not amicably) decades ago, became Aldi Sud & Aldi Nord. The operations of Trader Joe's & Aldi in the US are completely separate. Any overlap of products is a function of the private label industry vs. coordination. For example store brand hummus is likely to be either Tribe or Sabra. For most grocery categories there are a limited number of manufactures who have the scale to make private label in the quantities and at the price necessary.

    https://www.producebluebook.com/2019/07/19/aldi-and-trader-joes-are-they-related/#

Way more info then I'm sure anyone wanted 😂

Oh, and the Everything But The Bagel is $1.95 at my local Aldi. I have found that similar or identical items are always a bit cheaper at Aldi vs. TJ's

We miss you, Silly Kitty! Wha cha got cookin' of late?! Meow.

I've never been a huge Jello fan and hadn't had it since my surgery five years ago (the pre-op diet...), but someone on another forum eats sugar free Jello all the time - with light Cool Whip - as a snack or dessert. Since I seem to be having trouble controlling my snacking lately, I thought I'd give it a try. It's not bad - and it's sweet - and super low in calories. I picked up this coconut whipped topping that I saw the other day at Trader Joe's (I noticed that they also have it at Aldi's) - it's even lower in calories than light Cool Whip (10 calories per 2 tablespoons), and it has a nice, coconut-y taste to it. Voila! Just had this as my morning snack...

Great IDEA! And, at least you did not succumb to making Tomato aspic with meat stock! LOL.

This was our lockdown project; repurposing an old storage shed on our property into a summer cottage-slash-studio, instead of tearing it down. It was a quick-ish job because we just wanted to be able to enjoy it this summer, but we're using it so often that we've decided we'd like to have it year-round, so are planning on insulation and drywall, new wiring, etc. as next steps. There's always tea or Soup on at the cottage!

    cottage soup.jpg

What a rewarding project to embark upon. And, such a magical dreamy space! You must send progress pictures. Brings back very fond memories of our family northeast cabins built by my great-grandparents (unfortunately, sold off by rapacious relatives)... My favorite sleeping nook was much like above open window with cool summer breezes and fire flies flitting about. Great casement window details for such a renovation. Will you incorporate them?

Appreciate that you're curious about - and open to - exploring plant-based foods! That's a pretty good cookbook, too, one of a handful that we use regularly.

My kind, thoughtful daughter makes various energy bars for the family almost every week. She's only 13, but has already developed a great deal of capability in the kitchen (and elsewhere!). Years of massive kitchen waste and mess led to this point 😂, but it was all worth it because she'll carry these skills and this confidence in herself for the rest of her life. We just use a food-safe silicone mold to shape them: I've found that something like this is roughly the perfect size for virtually every kind of post-op treat.

Love the New Yorker and Bruce Kaplan. Thank you for that, and am attaching another of his cartoons in kind:

new yorker barbara smaller interior design.jpg

LOVE IT! A gal after my own heart. I could not live without my New Yorker magazine, cartoons + collection volumes in my library. I do cut, categorize and file them under food, relationships, design (like this one) and fashion etc. Use cartoons almost daily to share in a personal card, letter of agreements, client design notebooks, design statements and one weekly on kitchen cork board. A familiar and wonderful way of looking at life. Simply genius, really.

Does your daughter ship treats? Will place an order with her! LOL. What an amazing legacy. She sounds just like her mother - A true artisan of beauty and purpose, indeed.

We are planning to try out the blueberry chocolate bars and white bean Soup with best broth ever this weekend from www.nutritionstripped.com ;]

  10. Bachelor and Spinsters ball. What FUN is that! Jake, a possible trip to western Queensland? These Aussie's girls are pretty adorable, I'd say. LOL. I love your blue gown!!! Your hairstyle so glamorous. I'd wear both today in a heart beat. And, taffeta paired with velvet. Glorious. Your impeccable taste will never go out of style... Thank you so much for sharing. ;]

Unfortunately, I don’t have them anymore. A couple got a wee bit trashed at B&S balls (Bachelor & spinsters balls in western Queensland. Just an excuse for 24hrs of major drinking. Go to the ball & then the next day the party continues. Usually a couple of hundred people turn up.) The rest were donated or tossed. Did find this photo before the Emerald B&S 1988. I’m 2nd from the left in the dress with the black velvet bodice & red paper taffeta skirt.imageproxy.php?img=&key=3bbd8bc3022d1b1aIt also has a red sequinned piece on the shoulder. My friend’s hair is so big! We thought we looked fabulous. 😂

Also found this one. We were on our way to the Show Ball again in 1988 when I taught in a very small town in central Queensland. Can’t claim I made the ball gown but it is so 80s thought it deserved to be seen.

You look amazing, Jake. And enjoy every moment of our objectification. It’s done with love.

Nothing wrong with vanity sizing @GreenTealael. Looking good.

We haven’t had a covid case in Queensland for some weeks now @Sophie7713 & I think only 1 active case. We’ve been very fortunate & have opened up a lot now. A smaller population with less high density living has benefited us in Aust I think though Victoria is experiencing a second wave at the moment. (They say we’re currently experiencing a 'Spice Girl Paradigm' where everyone is trying really hard, but Victoria is ruining it for everyone. Sorry very poor joke.)

Thank you for sharing these incredible links! I just ordered Nutrition Stripped: 100 whole food recipes. I will enjoy exploring both sites including One Green Planet. Not to mention, these little perfect bite sized superfood treats to die for. Did you make and photograph these, too? They are textured and sculpted beautifully... Look so forward to discovering more scrumptious delectables + recipes. Fun! Quality carbs so important for fueling body and brain. I become quite foggy and fussy without them.

Kindness and warm-hearted encouragement toward strangers is a rare and special gift. Thank you for your thoughtful words, and for sharing these beautiful images with me, Sophie; the honour is truly mine. It's always a joy to see a new post from you, and I very much appreciate the support and generosity you extend toward everyone here 😊

I also hear you on the ways covid-19 is truly wreaking havoc in society and in our lives, and on the difficulties it presents in terms of quality, structure, and function. There's only more uncertainty on the horizon, and in some ways, the longer it goes on, the more it feels like a pandemic of widespread social pain and discomfort...

The current news out of Florida is extremely alarming, and I hope you and your family are staying safe in lockdown at home. From all of the activities you're planning and engaging in, you clearly have the adaptability and flexibility to remain creative and vibrant in every situation! I, too, have been using this time to develop new skills and build on existing ones, and am grateful for the opportunity to spend more time with my kids, exercise more, read and write more, paint more... and become more comfortable with being uncomfortable 😉 Please take great care. x

Oh Ms. PollyEster, you made my day! No, my week. No, my month! Some additional major cancellations and/or delays for meaningful and happily anticipated events for late October surfaced recently. You're thoughtful and encouraging words meant so much. And, becoming more comfortable with being uncomfortable. I like that! Thank you. Keep safe and sound, as well.

Did they give you a new surgery date or possible timeline in moving forward? Hopefully, by early Fall or sooner? Let's keep our fingers crossed we clear this Florida spike sooner than later. Meanwhile, some virtual posies cheering on your resolve and dedication to becoming healthier and fit. So excited for you! ;]

So much delicious looking food, but @Sophie7713 you're really bringing it! Quarantine has brought out the best in your cooking and food styling. I want to eat it all up 😍

Thanks! I've definitely been channeling my inner 1950's domestic diva these days... I mean like, oh goody, my big highlight of the week out of this humble household is grocery shopping tomorrow! Yay. And, vacuuming and cleaning the potty in a dress is even more fulfilling. dinner tonight? Grilled BBQ prime rib steak and roasted green Beans with strawberries at hubby's request. Live dangerously, I say! Join us for dinner Silly Kitty here on the exciting southeast coast where we are literally going VIRAL. LOL.

Went to the city yesterday with an old college friend. There were people everywhere - school holidays here. Had to dodge, swerve & sidestep to avoid them. Very strange experience & somewhat disconcerting.

Black fine wool dress with attached sleeveless overtop with cutouts & slashes. So lovely to be able to dress up.

I had my surgery scheduled with Dr. Shillingford at the Northwest Medical Center for early August until COVID cases went up, and now they are offering since I am self-pay that I go with Dr. Wizman at the Broward Health Coral Springs Center. I don't know much about Dr. Wizman. Anyone have some info. they can share. I may just wait until elective surgeries open up again.

While I cannot speak to Dr. Wizman or CSC - I can endorse whole heartedly Dr. Shillingford (and NW medical center) as one of the finest facilities, and surgeons in Florida for WLS. There is a complete recovery wing dedicated to bariatrics with a specialized team - A knowledgable, respectful and caring staff under the direction of Dr. Shillingford. My experience 1 year and 7 months out has been a positive and excellent one! I know five other individuals who would refer him without hesitation in their WLS journey. So sorry for your delay and these current precarious circumstances. How disappointing. That being said, Dr. Shillingford is worth the wait. Best wishes and much success. Keep me posted on what transpires.
