    Pre Op Liquid diet

I agree with you! I think some of the people who are commenting maybe are forgetting what it was like in the very beginning. Just because we choose to have this surgery doesn't mean that we become instantly immune to all the things we craved before. You've got this!!!!! Just think of how amazing it will be to be healthier, have more energy etc.. all the reasons I'm sure you chose to have surgery in the first place!! I don't know you, but I believe in you!!!! Scheduling

So it is taking longer for the nurse to call me to schedule the surgery then it was for the insurance company to approve the surgery. It took 3 days for insurance. I found out last Wednesday ( 1/29) that I was approved and the nurse still hasn't called me to give me a surgery date. I'm just annoyed!!!!! Anyone else have this issue?
  4. My insurance approved the surgery!!!! I am scared, excited, happy..lots of emotions but most of all, grateful! Don't have a date yet but soon! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Insurance approval

So I have BCBSIL and they do NOT require any type of long term program before being approved for surgery...however I am not sure what Teamcare is... so it may be different. As for me.. I had my very first appointment with the surgeon on January 8th. Everything that was required was submitted to insurance on January 28th and I was approved on January 30th. Insurance RANT

I have the same insurance. BCBSIL... I finished all my requirements over a week ago and I didn't hear anything so I emailed the gal at my surgeons office this past Friday and she was like oh, we just received the last piece of information and can now submit it to insurance. She didn't tell me anything else. It's kind of frustrating the lack of communication. I am so nervous... I just wish I could know one or another! Hang in there though! Does this look infected?

I'm not a doctor or a nurse, but just the fact that some pus came out... I would say it doesn't look right. My opinion is... rather safe the sorry! I would say if it stays the same or worsens, go back to the doctor.

Tip for Newbies and Pre-Opers - EAT SLOWLY

Sometimes reading everyone's experiences makes me super nervous for surgery. I am actually pretty scared. I just finished all my requirements and now it will get submitted to insurance...so it's getting closer. [emoji44] Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

How long did it take you to get your surgeries?

I have Blue cross/blue shield of Illinois (I live in idaho) they require 1 nutrition class, 1 psych evaluation and to have a certain BMI (which I do) my surgeon wanted an upper GI x ray done to check for reflux and hiatul hernia. I do not have to do any kind of supervised weight loss program. My first appointment with the surgeon was January 8th. My last required appointment is tomorrow morning with the psychologist. Then everything will be submitted to insurance. I am really hoping for an early to mid February surgery date because I am going to England at the end of May and I want to have lost some serious weight by then! 21. So I was reading about celebrities who had dramatic weight loss and when they were interviewed about losing weight most of them said in response to weight loss critics " I lost weight the 'healthy and old fashioned way',.. this really made me mad. I have tried for YEARS to do it the healthy and "old fashioned way"... surgery is just a tool. Do any of these people realize how insanely healthy we will have to eat in order to be successful? And exercise? Ughh... sorry to vent.

    Pre op

From what I can tell, it varies from doctor to doctor. I just met with my surgeon for the first pre-op visit on 1-8-19. We just talked about pretty much everything relating to my weight. How long i've been overweight, all the things I've tried to do help lose weight etc. What my "vices" were, what I expect from the surgery.. etc. then we discussed my insurance and coverage. Then I spoke with their insurance person and she sent over my information for the 3 appointments I need to do. Psychologist appointment, 1 nutrition class and an Upper GI x-ray which I had completed on Friday. I have my nutrition class tomorrow and I am still waiting to be scheduled with the psychologist. Best of luck to you!!

Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?

I haven't had my surgery yet... still in the pre-op stage of getting all my stuff done and submitted to insurance... but I am kind of open book. I have always worn my emotions on my sleeve (no pun intended) and so pretty much my entire family knows of my decision. Husband, kids, parents, in-laws, brothers... I have read many things that say a support system will really help with the weight loss. So for me, I need all the help I can get!
  24. angie_is_losing_it

    Starting the process!

I am in the same boat as you. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois and surprisingly I don't have that many things to do. I just had an Upper GI x-ray on friday. and tomorrow I go to my nutrition class and then I just have a psych eval. then it will get submitted for approval from insurance. My insurance does not require doctor supervised weight loss which I am actually soooo grateful for! Good luck to you!!!!
