11/19/09 Giggles and Jiggles
I hear ya! I FORCE myself to go to the gym 3 days a week and hit the treadmill... I havent lost nearly as much as you have, but when I run, the fat that hangs from my belly jumps up and down! Its HORRIBLE! Well.. in retrospect, i'm just glad it isnt touching my thighs anymore! Hahaha! Ugh. Good skin doesnt run in my family. My mom lost 75 lbs a few years ago and turned into a giant wrinkle. My neice had her baby and lost all baby weight PLUS some and her tummy actually looks like the pooch you have above! AND SHE IS ONLY 23!!! Everyone always asks me what i'm going to do about all the excess skin I will have and my answer is always, I'll worry about when I have some! Congratulations on your move to MOVE. Its hard to make that decision and actually do it (when I was at my biggest, I use to lay on the couch and THINK about excersizing!). I'm proud of you!

Large amt of protein in small portions?
When was your last fill? I guess what I am asking is how long after your last fill did it take to know you needed an unfill?

Aaack! Help! I'm freaking out!!!
Since this last fill, I might have to start doing that or maybe taking 1 at a time.

Aaack! Help! I'm freaking out!!!
I'm guessing it depends on what is right for that particular patient. If you cant walk because of the pain, and and NSAID is the best solution, it makes sense that he would take that route with that particular patient.

Aaack! Help! I'm freaking out!!!
I spoke with my surgeon and nurse last Friday specifically about the ibuprofin, and although they both agree it is hard on my liver, they both had no concern with my stomach or band.

Aaack! Help! I'm freaking out!!!
THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!! I am feeling better. Its been about an hour and a half since the puking, and I'm able to sip the tea now. I'm thinking on foregoing lunch... not too hungry after that horrible incident... You have no idea how much sharing your experiences helps me! Thanks everyone!

Aaack! Help! I'm freaking out!!!
My orthopedic doc has me taking 1600 - 2000 mg of Ibuprofin a day. My knee caps rub my bone plus I have athritis in one of my knees. It seems to be the only thing that works for my pain. Aleve and Tylenol dont help at all. I hear its bad for my liver... an ulcer, huh? hmmmmmmm... thats not good. I'm just wondering why I had no problem with a whole bowl of oatmeal and here I am puking up tiny ibuprofin tablets??

Aaack! Help! I'm freaking out!!!
Ok.. I had a fill this past Friday. It went well, and I followed the liquid diet for the 48 hours. I ate some lean brisket last night and it went fine. I had a slice of cheese this morning and finished a bowl of oatmeal at 10 am. No problems... Now at noon, I took 5 motrin (for my knees) with a gulp of mint herbal tea (hot) and now I keep burping up (and puking up) what I think is motrin and tea. Feels like heartburn and i'm freaking out! Will it stop? Is the motrin stuck??? Am I too tight??? Anyone have some advice or information for me? Thanks a bunch!!!

Nervous about fill this Friday...
Thanks for your support! My fill went well, considering... I lost 4 lbs since I was there last. Not too shabby considering what I'd been eating in the past few weeks. They just told me to get back on track and try to squeeze in some 'me' time by exercising.

Olive Garden NOT accomadating!!
I dont even know what to say to you... You cant compare the two... well, I guess you can and did.

Large amt of protein in small portions?
I buy champion whey Protein in vanilla and mix it with 8 ounces of Water and a crystal light packet. It tastes like a yummy cream drink. VERY tolerable! ps... mix it with tap or cool water and THEN refridgerate, if you want it ice cold. If you try to mix protein with hot or very cold liquids, it does get lumpy or grainy.

Nervous about fill this Friday...
...up until a few weeks ago, I was doing so good! I was eating healthy, avoiding sweets, excercising 4 days a week... but that all went downhill. I have been under so much stress! We are running short of work at work and everyone is grouchy, negative and argumentative. I usually go to the gym during lunch, but havent been taking one because we are working so hard trying to aquire some work so they dont have to start laying people off. YIKES! My kids have been keeping me busy after work and on weekends with homecoming games and dances, halloween, birthdays, meetings at school, friend activities.. sigh, I can hardly breathe these days! When I do have a spare night, all I want to do is rest and eat, not go to the gym like I should. Apparently when I am stressed I eat. I never noticed it before, but I sure have now! I havent been to the gym in 3 weeks, have been eating ice cream, chocolate, Cookies, and WAY too much in portion size. I'm excited to get another fill, hoping to reach that sweet spot someday, but i'm also nervous because I'm ashamed that I prolly havent lost any weight since I was there 7 weeks ago.

My sister considers lap-band surgery "cheating", and I am TICKED!
I hear ya sister! I always thought it was cheating too, and had no idea how much hard work it is to get where we are going! If I dont exercise and watch what I eat, I dont lose a pound! People dont realize that the band is a TOOL, not a solution (like gastric bypass).

11/7/09 Blogiversary!!
Ok... you brought a lump to my throat! YOU ARE MOST WELCOME! Your blogs encourage, brighten, strengthen and let me know that it's normal to feel the way I do sometimes about food. I'm not alone. Your comical way of blogging through this drastic change in our lives makes it so much more bearable! THANK YOU!

11/2/09 It's Calling My Name...
I hear ya! We always have chocolate in my office in the little conference room accross from my desk and I SWEAR it calls me all day! Some days louder than others... haha So this is how I combat these cries... I know this is gonna sound ridiculous, but I sometimes close the door to the conference room so I dont hear it. The guys laugh at me in the office because i'm so silly, but HEY... if it keeps me away from that darn chocolate all day, its all good!

10/29/09 Happy Weight
Wow! I have a large frame according to the chart. I never knew... According the the 'happy weight' I should weigh 134. That's CRAZY! At my thinnest in high school, that is about what I weighed... and you could see my bones. Anyway, regarding the goals that the docs set, I didnt get any goals. Heck, they didnt even weigh me before my surgery! I use my starting weight from my home scale... I weighed myself first thing when I got home from my surgery 4 days later. Who knows how accurate that is, but I continue to use my scale to chart my progress, as the dr. scale usually varies from mine. Just trying to keep it consistent. Ya know?

:) New to this particular "room"
Regarding your slow loss... I too lose slow and sometimes am jealous reading about how much weight some people lose in such a short period of time. I was banded in April of 2008 and finally reached ONEderland this morning. EXACLY one and a half years later. I'm glad I'm not the only one who loses slow! :wink2:

Sharp Pains- HELP!
YIKES! I'm so sorry... Good luck to you!

Sharp little pains on the right?
I get those too, and my surgeon said it was prolly scar tissue ripping from where they stitched the port to the muscle. It started when I upped my exercise routine. I would ask your doc next time you see him or her since I am a year and a half post op and have had time to form scar tissue. Not so sure about 2 months...

Sharp Pains- HELP!
Oh my! A detached tube?? I've never heard anyone talk about that here. Did they repair it? Since I posted, I have gone for a fill and my surgeon said if he was able to find the port ok, there was nothing to worry about. He did and said the pains might becoming from ripping scar tissue where my port is stitched to the muscle...

Failing Badly
I'm so sorry! How hard this must feel for you! 6 months after my surgery, I fell and injured my ankle, and couldnt exercise for 6 weeks. I gained some back and I felt just horrible about it. Try not to let it get you down. Once you are 100%, pick up where you were and get back on track. Its just a temporary setback. You are doing so well losing 45 pounds! Remember... its TEMPORARY.

How do you feel after your fills?
Try not to worry... I have the same experiences with fills. I have had 5 so far and have 5 ccs in a 10 cc band. The first time they gave me 2 ccs and it was fine... after that, they give me 1cc, but I always burp up the Water they give me, so they have been taking out .5ccs before I leave. For the first 4 days or so, I do great with restriction, then I find I can eat more than I should... From what I understand, due to the swelling, they can only give you as much as your tummy can handle at a time. Thats why you have to keep going back. I have noticed that after each fill, up until the next one (my doc comes to town every 6 weeks), it is still more restriction than before, so its all good. Its just patience and dediciation that will get us to that magical sweet spot. Keep on keeping on, and dont give up!

Protein protein protein
I was talking to a fitness instructor at the gym last night and he recommended 25 ish grams every hour and a half or two hours or so. He said our bodies cant absorb more than that at a time and anything more than that just gets pee'd out and wasted. He laughed at body builders who do 52 gram shots at a time because it isnt helping them a bit! :sneaky: He said that the Protein in out bodies kept at a consistent level throughout the day keeps us from going into starvation mode; which hinders weight loss... not to mention the benefit it does for our muscles as we lose weight and get stronger and healthier. I just wish protein wasnt so darn high in calories!

10/15/09 Are you a Pear? An Apple?
I hear ya! I went from a 44DD to a 38D or 40C!!! AACKKKKK!!! Now if my hips and thighs would slim down maybe I wouldnt feel so out of poportion in regards to my ever sagging baggy boobs!!
