  1. OK...just so you know I have to have an Upper GI before my surgery...I am doing it on Thursday...my surgery is on Monday.....I have a history of a hiatal hernia however, so they want to see how that looks now before proceeding, he will repair it as well during my lap band surgery. Ok....I have tried xenical...and all it does is make you poop orange oily runny loose stools, it makes you gassy...and sometimes when you think you have gas....you actually poop on yourself instead of just farting....Yes..I know this sounds gross...but these are the facts you should be aware of. I didnt lose weight while taking it....but I didnt gain any weight either. Good luck!!
  2. I am having a hernia repaired at the same time....so that is all I told my co-workers (who had to know in order to cover my clinics)...I am a nurse midwife. One of my friends had this done a few months ago, and she regrets having told so many from the comments she has received. I have only told a very few close family members and friends. Who knows...I may tell them all down the road...but for now...I dont think it is anyone's business but mine. Don't feel bad!!!
  3. I met with Dr. Spivak in Houston on Feb. 4.....my insurance approved me on Feb. 14th. It was almost too easy. I was told however that my insurance is one of the easiest to work with. I am very excited about my upcoming surgery which is scheduled on Feb. 27th. If you have this insurance..and you qualify...you will get approved. I feel very lucky after reading the problems others have had. Dr. Spivak is not in my network however, so he does cost more then a network doctor would...but I really think he is worth it!! Dena:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  4. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I am very excited...I first met Dr. Spivak at a Semiar on Feb. 4th, he is a wonderful kind man. I was approved by my insurance on Feb. 14th...and have a surgery date for Feb. 27th!!!! I can't wait!! Dena
  5. I just met Dr. Spivak yesterday at one of his seminars. His staff was very friendly and extremely informative. Dr. Spivak himself was wonderful. He does not push bypass surgery at all, simply gives you all the facts on both types of surgeries. It was my impression that he prefers the lap band system. I was only given a low fat diet to follow, and nothing was mentioned about following a liquid diet pre-surgery. I was told my insurance was one of the easiest to work with, and those that qualify are not denied so I am very excited!! Now I just need to get that final approval and set my date.
