Yep, that's me. It's not a matter of being hungry; it's more that the urge to snack becomes stronger in the evening when I'm watching TV. (It was the same before surgery, I should add.). I think it's basically psychological and not physiological.

It isn’t THAT much but it will be if I keep going like this. Have to put the brakes on now before it’s too late. A distal is where they take one part of a tube and stick it somewhere else... lengthening the limb so that there is more malabsorption. That’s kind of the idea haha.

I’m planning on staying on the Saxenda till my surgery - it’s really holding me accountable especially with alcohol. I had a drink on it my first night and felt terribly ill - my guess is my blood sugar went very low. So, I’ve given up alcohol and I have to say it’s really hard! It’s been my go to, to destress. Doing a lot of deep breathing and positive self talk lol.

Hi, FrouFrou. 25 pounds isn't that much in the grand scheme of things, and it sounds like you are ready to get things back on track. What is a "distal bypass?"

Okay, I'll play along! I don't have a "before" pic that really represents how big I was, because I generally avoided being photographed back then. My before is from a chorus concert I did--and I will admit that I was wearing a "man girdle" at the time. (Cringe.)
I went from 250 to a low of 132 before bouncing back up to 142.

I have that dream on a regular basis! I'm eating food I know I shouldn't have and in large quantities. In my dream I know that I've had surgery and I feel very guilty about it. I'm always very relieved when I wake up and realize that it didn't really happen!

Well if we’re doing confessions, I’ll admit that I can have mimosas (yes, plural) and not suffer.
Weird story, but I actually ran into my bariatric surgeon at a padel ball tournament last fall.
Weirder still, my husband and I got paired up against him and his wife.
Mimosas and Breakfast burritos were flowing and my bari-surgeon himself poured me a mimosa after our match!
I told him I either had room for the mimosa or the burrito and his response was “damn surgeons, can’t trust ‘em”
Lol, I chose the mimosa 🤣
    Hope everyone is doing well
So far I’m hanging into the high 130’s and I too think that I look much better now with 5 extra pounds on.
I seem to be in constant flux-regaining then losing the same 5-7 pounds.
I’d like it if I had a bit more consistency, but as long as I can keep within my window I’ll take it.

Hi, all. I already posted this in the general forum, but I wanted to let all of my February 2019 friends know as well. (You may recall that I was an "honorary" member of the February group after my original February surgery date was postponed until March.)
I celebrated my two-year surgery anniversary a few days ago (March 3, 2019), and I'm happy to report that things are going well. I gained about ten pounds during maintenance, and in retrospect I think that my low weight of 132 was too thin. (I never dreamed two years ago that I would be saying those words!)
I feel like I am eating "normally," though in smaller quantities and without most of the junk I ate when I was obese. I still avoid sugar, carbs and fat, but I've gotten a bit more relaxed about indulging from time to time. I celebrated my two-year anniversary with a huge piece of cake washed down with an ice-cold Coke. (Just kidding--I ate my usual diet!)
I'm attaching a photo taken two days ago to show what I look like these days. I hope all of the February 2019 members are doing well!

From the start, I weighed myself only once a week, and I've recommended that others do the same. It's hard not jumping on the scale every morning, I know! However, you can make yourself crazy with the little daily fluctuations (and two pounds is really not a meaningful amount). You just have to trust the process if you are following your surgeon's plan, and weekly weigh-ins will give you a much better idea of the overall downward trend.

Recidivist got a reaction from NitroTrashPanda in LGBTQIA?
I'm a gay man who agrees with AZHiker. The advice and support I've received here have been invaluable. I don't consider my sexual orientation at all relevant to those discussions.
Two points of disagreement with AZHiker: I do think that age and gender can be relevant to our weight loss journeys. Men tend to lose weight differently (and more quickly) than women, and older people also face different challenges than younger ones. (I had surgery at age 59.)

Recidivist got a reaction from Yaas BRAVE ONE in Did Anyone Regret Their surgery
My sister and a very close friend were both very nasty about my decision to get surgery and tried to talk me out of it. Instead of being supportive when things were so unpleasant right after my surgery, their attitude was basically "I told you so." The relationship with my friend never fully recovered, and my sister is still very negative about my surgery, constantly saying that it must be terrible that I can no longer "enjoy life" because I can't eat some things. (I enjoy life more than ever, thank you very much.)
Both of them are quite overweight themselves, and my guess is that they are threatened and a bit envious that I've made such positive changes. However, I don't really care. I refuse to let their negativity get me down. I had the surgery for me, for my health and for a better quality of life as I age--and I know I made the right decision.

I almost never weighed myself pre-surgery, so my advice relates to post-surgery.
Even after surgery, I tried to avoid the scale and weigh myself only a couple of times a week--and ideally only once a week. It's too easy to become obsessed with the tiny fluctuations (up and down) that occur day to day. It's more important to see the overall trend downward, which you will if you don't weigh yourself daily.
It's also important that you weigh yourself under the same conditions every time, as others have said. For me, that was first thing in the morning, naked, and before I had eaten or drunk anything. That way, I could be sure that I was comparing apples to apples. Also, I only compared the numbers from my scale at home and not with the scale in the doctor's office, because the two scales could be calibrated differently. Again, apples to apples.

Your story is very similar to mine. I had "only" about 100 pounds to lose and initially exceeded that amount, getting down to 132--then bounced right back up to 142. That's where I've stayed through my two-year anniversary earlier this month. And frankly, it's a much better weight for me than a rather skeletal 132 (although I thought I looked pretty fabulous at the time, in spite of everyone telling me I was way too thin).
i also had bladder cancer back in 2017--but then again, I am an old man. I actually lost about 50 pounds after cancer surgery and treatment, and everyone told me how great I looked. I told them I wouldn't recommend the cancer weight loss program. Naturally, I gained it all back once I regained my health and strength.
While I haven't broken anything, I injured both my groin muscle and knee while lifting heavy boxes during a move last October and had to stop exercising completely. I'm still doing physiotherapy and was only recently cleared by my therapist to walk about 1/2 mile at a time. I made very sure to cut back my calorie intake to compensate for my lack of exercise, and I'm happy to say that I've managed to maintain my weight.
Thank you so much for sharing your struggles--especially with such good humor! It's important for all of us to hear that life does indeed happen and that we will continue to face challenges along this journey. And we can overcome them, as we have before!

This is not an issue that can be resolved from comments on this board. The two of you need to get couples counseling to understand and work through the root cause(s) of the intimacy issues in your relationship. I wish you luck!

Recidivist got a reaction from Arabesque in Well, the honeymoon may be over
I see that you are well below your goal weight and at a quite low BMI, so you certainly have a comfortable cushion. I think you've done very well if you feel that your honeymoon is just ending now, because I think mine was over at about 14 months. To be honest, I prefer maintenance (at least so far) because it seems like I can eat more or less normally--albeit a new normal--and my weight stays within a pretty tight range. You just have to find that sweet spot, and after nearly two years you definitely have the knowledge to do so.

Increased energy and stamina, able to participate in physical activities that were out of reach for years, no more BP or cholesterol meds, no more sleep apnea, being in control of my eating and my weight (and more generally my life), pride in what I've accomplished, not feeling like I'm being stared at in public (or actually being stared at), having clothes that look good and fit well...
I could go on, but you get the idea.

All of this. I'm very proud of how far I've come, relieved that I don't get gawked at when I go out in public now (when I was almost 400 pounds people would stare. I hated that), and being able to fit in something that I buy off the rack without having to actually try it on and it looking GOOD! (that was rare before my weight loss. I'd try on a dozen things and be lucky if I like even one of those dozen things. Now everything fits and my problem is deciding what I want and since I'm still losing to try to not buy too much because I'm likely to go down at least 1 or 2 more sizes. I figure with the way my clothes are fitting right now if I lose another 5 pounds I'll be in a different pants size and another 10 for a different shirt size)
