  1. My Surgeon recommended the app and /or web site "Lose it!" It's even better than "My fitness Pal". So easy! Using it Pre op and really like the scan feature. Has way more database than most apps. Havent had to manually enter anything.
  2. Just wondering what people take on a reg basis re: Vitamins and supplements. I am on day 4 preop liquid diet and take Calcium, magnesium, a multi Vitamin, Biotin and mega red daily. Actually, the magnesium is every other day. I think these pills will be too BIG post op. What do other people do? Not fond of any LIQUID vitamins!

  4. I am on day TWO of preop liquid diet and just ate 4 skittles (my kids). What is my problem? How am I ever going to be successful post op? Will I need to be sedated for 2 weeks so as not to cheat?? I just feel deprived and sneak in a few cheats here and there, hence the reason I am overweight and never successful with dieting!
  5. Stronger! Only the chorus, obviously!
  6. Syntha 6 is delicious, but has some carbs.
  7. Starting my liquid diet soon. Cannot believe I actually feel sorry for myself and don't think I am so big that I need to do the liquids! I better get with the program...
  8. I am scheduled Jan 31st. Starting liquid diet this week.
  9. . I am having surgery on Jan 31st. I start my liquid diet on Wed (or Thursday haha) What is the best protein shake or drink you have had preop. ? And I too will be sending prayers and good vibes your way tomorrow!
  10. I am getting a revision this month. No success with the band. Maybe its too high or whatever. End results=failure.Sleeve will do what the band is supposed to. Full on small amounts. I only gagged with the band or was too loose. No sweet spot EVER. Having part of my stomach removed is was preferable over this fat that creates physical challenges as I grow older. I am 50 with young children am feeling the toll. I still go to the gym, but have eating issues that I have to face daily and working with the band has led to disordered eating. I have to prep to be healthy and end up over my caloric needs.I will switch to the other board now and good luck to all. I envy all who had success the first time around!
  11. I have had my band for 6 years. Want to get the sleeve, continuing to work on it. All is cash pay.
  12. I have to say the person in Dr. Wizman's office that does the fills is awesome and I'll take her over any surgeon- any day. I like the Doc too and he HAS done my fills in the beginning but his assistant is top notch and a master at it. They all care well for the patients and are very warm and friendly.
  13. I never feel full. Only hungry and food goes through, or if it doesn't then I am uncomfortable and feel pressure. I have not had success and am really thinking of getting a revision and getting a Gastric Sleeve, which really does make you attain the full feeling with smaller amounts of food. I am trying and just had a .3cc fill in my Inamed band am up to 2.1cc in a 4cc band. I am scheduled for another fill in 6 weeks. I see no real difference with my fill. Have to chew longer but sits the same and no decrease in hunger. I hear more bands are being removed and it may be taken off the market due to failure.
  14. You are just like me. I lost 45 and gained 40 back! I am starting over now. It was 6 years ago when I was banded and I am going to begin all over again! I will embrace the band and go get my fill this week. I have loaded up on protein shakes and have an exercise buddy. I plan on asking for an aggressive fill to get me off heavy foods for a while and give my gut a rest! Lets do it together!
  15. Good Luck pgrairene!
  16. I live in South FL. I have a very busy life and would like a "partner" in getting back on track. I have researched revisions to a RNY as I never got to goal. I let my weight dictate my life and am missing out on it all. I am socially dropping out and am having a lot of physical pain. I weigh 208 today and carry it all in my middle, causing a lot of arthritic leg and foot pain. I am ready to attempt to embrace the band and restriction. I will call for a fill this week. I can eat everything now except for maybe a hamburger. My metabolism is a wreck and I have to take Nsaids for the pain. This is weight gain after getting an unfill at weight of 190 because I was just sick of the restriction and thought I would eat fruit! Well, I rarely eat fruit. I am a carb addict! I have a gym buddy who is very supportive but cant really relate to the band. I heard that 60% of banders are getting them removed or revised. Any encouragement is welcomed!
  17. Thanks, got .6cc out today. had 2 lunch meat roll ups without an issue. What a relief. I'll keep you posted. Need to re learn the band and a proper diet.
  18. I know you guys all have answered this, but I guess I need the answers to be handed to me personally. I have lost 25 lb in 3 years. My weight is up 10 lbs. I weigh 185 and am 5 '6''. I can drink hot tea and "work" on a protein shake in the a.m. No lunch unless I do chicken broth and water load and then immedietly eat. Yesterday I was at the mall and took a sample at 3pm of a chicken breast, then had 1 chicken nugget dipped in ranch dressing and was horribly uncomfortable and PB'd the minute I got home. Did the soup routine and was able to eat soft foods with dsgs. Too tight? I cannot imagine eating lunch with my friends in half portions without implememting my private routine of hot soup and water pushing before. I hate the band and feel like food is in my chest and eat 2 soups daily before my" real meals". It is an inamed band 9.75 with 2.3 cc in it. I carry all my weight in my short torso.:frown:Is there a solution, An unfill of how much? No fluoro at my clinic. Everything is intact.
  19. I had my band inserted in Feb of '06. I have lost 40 lbs and have 20 -30 lbs more to lose. I have an Inamed (9.75cm?) 4 cc band and struggle constantly. Is this normal or all wrong? When I wake up, I usually have some mucousy settlement in my pouch. I work on my coffee or tea all morning. Cannot drink water freely, but a few sips only. By late afternoon, I have chicken broth, followed by a heavier soup, this opens me up to drink 20 oz. of fluids and extra water. Then for dinner, maybe more broth, then I can have some bites of meat or pasta, but Usually some crispy foods, like crackers or chips with dressing or someting. Never Salad or veggies. Then I take my pills and go to bed. Everthing must be really wet with oils or sauce. I can never eat breakfast, so when I go skiing or something I feel weak a lot. I am at 2.6 cc only. I cannot get below 170 lbs. If I get an unfill, I shoot up to 180 lbs. I am 5'6" and weigh 173 lbs STILL!
  20. Wonder Woman (Linda Carter) weighed 150# during her TV show years.
  21. I am getting my Lap Band this Thurs by Dr. Rumbaut. I am nervous, but knew what I wanted when I started this pursuit, so I am only going to look foreward to all things good! I have 2 beautiful children ages 3 & 6 and hope I can make them proud. My sister in law is going to Mexico with me and she will be my rock. I' ll keep you all posted upon my return!
  22. I dont mean to be insensitive, but you really do not need all this drama now. You made a proactive decision to save your life, possibly, be proud and strong. If your spouse needs more time to adjust, then fine. Change takes time. Congrats on your new healthy journey!
  23. I just went through this and all the people responded to my worries (on this forum). I chose Dr. Rumbaut finally when a local Docs nurse privately called me after hours and said (off the record) "If you are really going to go to Mexico, then go to Rumbaut" She was in on the initial beginnings in the Us and had visited Monterrey and been in surg with him and said he was excellent, as do his stats reflect. I was very scared and using our savings. My kids need savings for college and we could use the $$ for so much other stuff. But...this is also an investment for my life and our future. I thoght the extra $2500. was worth it over the course of a lifetime and if a prominent physician's nurse also went out on a limb to seceretly give me advice, then it made my decision worth it. This forum did an unofficial analysis and Rumbaut had no erosions on here either. I leave for Mexico on Wed. am.
  24. I am sure this is an old subject. I have decided to get the procedure and must pay cash. My employer dropped this benefit on my insurance. It is $10600. @ the WishCenter in San Antonio & about the same @ Dr. Rumbaut. I have narrowed it down to these 2 DRs. San Antonio is Dr. Rincon. All my fills will be done in FL. I have my arrangements. I cannot decide and am afraid of picking the wrong place. I hear great things about Dr. Rumbaut and a few good things about Dr. Rincon. Nothing bad about either. Anyone???:omg:
