Trix1017 reacted to Carrot64 in Realizing just how fat I was...and still am
I totally understand , somehow what I thought a 70 lb. weight loss would look like doesn’t coincide with what I DO look like and obviously I am looking at how much longer I have to go instead of where I have come from. I also don’t believe it when people tell me how good I look . When someone compliments me I rattle off how much more I still have to go. I wish I could accept my success. Sometimes all I see is a wrinkly neck and sagging skin... but there are really good days as well.. is still never go back and the good way out weighs the bad. All we can do is change what we can and accept the flaws and not expect perfection .

Trix1017 got a reaction from FluffySaysForkIt! in Hair loss & Biotin when did you start taking it?
I started taking B12, Biotin, Iron and D3 prior to surgery along with a chewable Multi-Vitamin. Everything other than the multi-vitamin is sublingual and I’ve had minimal Hair loss, if any.

I think the most helpful thing my surgical team told me is that the idea is not to see how much you can eat until you feel full, the idea is to eat until you feel the absence of hunger.

Trix1017 reacted to Jazzy1125 in TMI question re. vomiting
depends on what happens. after surgery twice my stomach rejected what i ate.. the first time.. my head was over a garbage can at work in the middle of the day for an hour and a half.. producing what is so famously called here the foamies.. It is nothing but white foam.. and mucus like vomit.. no acid, no food.. nothing.. the second time was a short foamie issue. From what i hear it is when your stomach does not like what you ate and decides to put you through hell for a short time or a long visit.

I stalled for a month. I finally lost 6 pounds in April. You will get there!

The way I broke stalls was the reverse of what everyone in this thread is saying. I did two things anytime I stalled more than a few days.

I upped my calories 150-200 per day at each stall and drank a ton of water/tea the first few days. I also stopped all exercise except walking for a few days.

Once I started losing again and my body didn’t fear starvation, I went back to business as usual.

I never hit a stall longer than a week with this. Well, until month 9. By then I had lost almost 200 lbs and intentionally started eating more to slow down the weight loss as I slide into my goal weight.

Don't forget that the number on the scale is not the only indicator of progress. I've stayed basically the same weight for the past week and a bit but lost about 1.8% of body fat and over 1/2 inch on my waist (and other places) over the same period. But even if you don't track body fat or body measurements, you can still notice how your clothes fit So long as you are sticking to your plan, you will progress.

Hang in there. I know that's easier said than done. I've slowed down to about 1 lb loss per week or less. I'm looking at other changes than just weight. In some clothing I can wear a size small and I'm 147 pounds. I definitely lost a lot of inches. I'm hoping since I've added jogging to my exercise routine, it will jump start my weight loss. Don't give up.

I have so many non-scale victories--which is fortunate since I only lost 3.5 pounds in the past month. I am, however, only 17 pounds from my goal weight (maybe I should just change my goal??). So, my non scale victories are as follows:
    1. I went from wearing size 44 pants on December 1 to now wearing 32 pants!
    2. One of the other kid's mom at my daughter's nursery that I used to talk to all the time saw me this past weekend and introduced herself as if she had never talked to me before. She didn't recognize me!!
    4. I had to buy slim fit shirts and suits because standard fit is too loose around my waist.
    5. My wife says I am not snoring anymore!!
    6. I am no longer taking medication for T2DM, high blood pressure or high triglycerides,
    7. My surgeon asked me if I would be willing to be in advertisement where I show my before and after and talk about how bariatric surgery changed my life (haven't decided if I want to do that though).
    8. Most importantly, I feel great. I have loads of energy and I am not embarrassed of my appearance or being the fat guy in the room. I am actually looking forward to wearing a bathing suit this summer!! I feel like i didn't just lose weight, but like I turned the clock back 15 years.
Even if I don't lose another pound, I am thrilled with the results. My only regret is not having had the surgery sooner.

I had one this week too. I went to get my bloodwork done for my follow up next week. Last time I did this it was a tight squeeze to get the arm rest down over my belly. Plenty of room this time! The phlebotomist didn’t really understand my excitement to be in her chair LOL 😂

I had one this past week. I have been buying business class seats to travel for years because of my size and never wanting to be embarrassed or kicked off a flight. I've always had seat belt extensions as well. I took my first economy flight in years and fit in the seat and the seat belt actually fastened without an extension. Great feeling!

yesterdays NSV - I was able to buy a few items of clothes at a physical Old Navy store because I didn't need plus size . Today, I realized I needed to go and exchange a couple sweaters because they're too large! So I was able to buy XL sweaters! (even though I know ON runs large, still excited).

Today is my 10-year wedding anniversary. Yesterday I went shopping for a cocktail dress for a special weekend we have planned.
When I was in high school, my friends and I would go to the mall and try on prom dresses in the department store junior section, just for fun. The largest size they ever had was a 14. I would ask my friends to try to zip the dress up, and it wouldn't zip, ever. I blamed my boobs or my large frame (shoulders/ribs too wide..) but the truth was, I was just too heavy. It still makes me feel shame, even 20 years later.
Well, yesterday, I found a beautiful cocktail dress in a size 12. I decided to try it on, despite having flashbacks to high school. It was tight and I couldn't reach to zip it myself, so I stepped out to ask an attendant to zip it for me. Y'all - it fit, with space to spare. I feel like Carrie Bradshaw in this damn dress, and I bought a pair of sky-high heels to match.
And the best part? This normally $298 dress was on clearance at Nordstrom Rack for $35!

First NSV - Looked at my poor bruised (blood thinner injections), scarred, and stretchmarked stomach and apron and felt sorry for them instead of angry with then for the first time. Reclaimed them as part of me rather than the disgusting traitors and have begun moisturising and looking after them along with my other overlapping and swinging bulgy bits. Accepted they'll still be there albeit deflated, so may's well be at peace with them :-)
