I was eating "regular" food at a month, but I didn't turn back to eating junk food, pastas, and bad foods that made me fat in the first place. I just ate REAL food.

How exciting for you. Glad you're here now instead of just lurking. 😀 Congrats on the upcoming surgery date and we wish you much success on your WLS journey. Keep us updated and feel free to ask any questions.

I see you've already gotten some great ideas and have a ride lined up. Congratulations on your decision to have this life-changing surgery and under the difficult conditions of not having a support network around you. They don't understand that WLS is NOT THE EASY WAY OUT!!!! It's just a tool to help you make the right food and exercise choices. It's not a magic bullet that instantly takes all the weight off overnight.

I can see mashed banana during the pureed food stage, but check your paperwork as to exactly what your doctors office recommended. Each surgeon is slightly different on their post-op diet food plan stages.

Hi everyone! I am Kim and new here, although a long time lurker.
I read forums all the time, I want to know the good, the bad and the ugly. All the possibilities.
My surgery is scheduled for Marsh 21st and I am so excited. I am not a bit nervous yet but I know once it gets closer I will be freaking out.
I am so dedicated to this process, I have done months of research after years of convincing myself that I don't need this.
I have lost over 100 lbs multiple times, I have high expectations for myself that this will be the LAST TIME!
    Thanks for listening!

Stick to 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup portion sizes and stop when you've eaten that much even if you don't feel full.

Congrats! I had the same story, never any pain, felt great right away. I used a charity thrift store, St. Vincent de Paul to get transition clothes as I changed sizes in order to pay $2 or $3 per item rather than $20+ per item while I was losing. It worked out well. I changed sizes about every 20 pounds.

Miralax or Calcium Caltrate should do the trick. I popped right away and never got constipated, but I was one of the lucky ones.

Most surgeons and nutritionists don't count calories. They just say, "Eat your Protein first. If full, stop. If not full, go on to veggies, then if full, stop. If not full, go on to grains." Don't get hooked on the calorie-counting game post-WLS because it doesn't work.

Any time you say "severe" that warrants a call to your surgeon's office to ask the question. I know the "foamies" from eating something my pouch won't tolerate, but not from Water.

My heart goes out to you. Please find a new better counselor that'll help you and keep regular two week appointments or something to stay in check. Check with your insurance plan to see if they cover addiction recovery programs. I suffer from Clinical Depression and Anxiety Disorder, so I know about using food to mask/treat my problems and while that's not alcohol like you're talking about (I don't drink) it's a similar "addiction" and coping mechanism. I take antidepressants and participate in regular counseling.

I still get a lot of gurgling, especially if I eat too fast or drink with a straw because it allows a lot of air to get in there. I never did the puree stage. I did 2-3 weeks liquids, then soft foods, then regular foods. I skipped pureed because I don't care for that texture. I turned out just fine. 😁

Week 4 for me but each doctor has different guidelines. Yes you can add applesauce or unsweetened milk to it.

It's only been 4 days. Give it a chance. It takes time. It's not a miracle surgery where all the fat disappears overnight magically and there's no pain or weakness. Your body needs time to heal. It's been through a major trauma.

Depends on what your surgeon's office told you. They all vary one from another.

GradyCat got a reaction from need to slim in Food coma
I used to get that. Really bad. Never thought of it the way you described it but yes, it's a sort of food coma. Come to think of it, I'm still getting it, but not as hard as before, like a crash, more of a wave. I nap every day after lunch. Like you said, even if I eat something healthy.
