There aren't any off-limit foods, it's just about eating what's best for you and what your body will tolerate and making the best food choices focusing on Protein first.

Believe it or not, we all got cold feet right before the surgery. It's a natural thing to be scared about being put under anesthesia and any complications. If you weren't worried, we'd be worried about you. 😀 But take comfort from the thousands of us here on these forums who survived and thrived after WLS and are here to share our experiences and information with you.
Take some deep breaths. Try to get some sleep tonight before your surgery tomorrow. It'll be a rough couple of days after surgery, no doubt, but a month from now you'll realize how much worthy it was to do.

Hi everyone, I'm having the sleeve surgery on Feb 23rd. I'm real excited about the new phase of my life and the weight loss journey. One thing that has me concerned is the NO CAFFIENE for 6 months. I don't drink coffee, but normally have a cup of tea and 1 diet soda in the morning, occasionally I'll have one in the afternoon. I've been slowly reducing the amount of caffeine so I don't go into withdrawals, although I've stopped drinking it before without problems. What are people doing without caffeine? Maybe after losing enough weight we will all have enough energy that caffeine won't be needed, but in the meantime, any suggestions? I do take tyrosine sometimes and it does help with energy, but not like a diet soda or a cuppa!

It's been 20 years since my bypass. My surgery weight was 379. My lowest was 170. The most I weighed post opp was 243. I'm now 218 and I'm struggling to get under 200. Anyone else here has this problem. I know alcohol is one of the biggest set back

I stopped losing at 9 months. Now I'm at it again 3 years later trying to drop a few pounds. Very slow, glacial slow, but it's working

To me, those are Cookies. It has 5g of added sugar for only 30 grams of food. That's a lot of sugar!!! Sure, they have some Protein, but so does yogurt, cheese, Protein Drinks, Beans, meat, tofu, ...
It might be nice for a treat, but only if I could stop myself at one serving.

I'd have no problem at all eating 15 of those - if not more! They'd be better for an occasional treat. If I had them around all the time, I'd be eating them...

on the other hand, the calories aren't too bad for 15 little Cookies.

March 3rd, 2022, will be my one year post-op anniversary. I have lost 127 lbs. For a while now, everytime I eat something, I feel like I am gaining weight! I have this constant worry about it. I try on different clothes, just to make sure I am not, I check the scale regularly, etc. I love my success, and I would do it ten times over, if I had to, but I do not like this constant worry about weight gain.

Yep - I've taken a capful of Miralax every morning for the last six or so years. It usually does the trick - although still maybe once a month or so I'll get backed up - but a night or two of milk of magnesia will usually fix that. My doctor said daily Miralax is fine, but check with yours just in case.

GradyCat got a reaction from Jersey Girl in Tampa in After surgery am I doomed to a life of throwing up???
No, you don't end up throwing up for life. Definitely for the first 36 hours post-surgery due to anesthesia. Possibly once or twice throwing up the "foamies" (mucus, bile, not food) if you eat something your stomach doesn't agree with. I eat meat all the time. No problem. But I still can't eat soft tortillas. That's okay with me.

They lengthen the part of the intestine that was bypassed, so you don't absorb as much. This isn't a common "thing", but I've heard of a couple of other people having this done.

The therapist has no business telling you what to eat, that's the domain of the nutritionist or PA. Listen to them.

I still, 3 years post-op, have a signal when a food isn't right for me. I get "the foamies." That's when you throw up mucus but not food and you feel extremely full up in your esophagus right away. I still can't eat bread or soft tortillas.

Stalls are plateaus but they don't make you gain weight. Over what period have time have you gained this weight? If it's over a month, that's concerning, if it's over a year it's just excess calories. I searched online about weight gain and birth control pills and read:
Weight gain is a common birth control pill side effect. Certain oral contraceptives are more likely than others to increase the pounds. Fortunately, the weight gain is often due to temporary Water retention and will go away in a few months.
Water retention is a typical symptom of premenstrual syndrome that is caused by fluctuating hormone levels. You’ve probably noticed it before—about a week or two before your period starts you start to feel bloated and your clothes are a little too tight.
Estrogen-containing birth control pills have the same effect. The most widely used type of birth control pill contains two types of synthetic female hormones—estrogen and progestin—that prevent your body from releasing an egg. It is the estrogen part of the pill that can cause you to retain water, which may make you feel like you’ve gained weight. Water retention usually passes after you’ve been taking the pill for a few months.

It shouldn't take too long, but post-COVID they have to prioritize hospital beds for COVID and sick patients and not elective surgery, so that might be your only delay.

Did you talk to a counselor before having the surgery to understand the severity, permanency, and restrictions for what you'd be doing? How long ago did you have the surgery? If it was just recent, maybe your hormones are still messing with you from the operation. If it is longer than that, why aren't you eating more than 4 oz? You can.
No, you can't stretch your own stomach and no you can't have surgery to stretch it back out.
I would highly suggest you talk to a therapist about your situation.

My surgeon told me that while the dietician would disagree, she recommended just having coffee until lunch time. So, I have coffee with ultra milk & unflavored Protein Powder in it. This has worked really well for me & surgeon is very pleased w my progress & labs.

It depends on what your goals are. To improve your health overall or become a supermodel. 😀 I don't know what your current size is, but 60 pounds is a good way toward a healthier life, less weight on your joints, and so forth. Ultimately only you can decide what's worth it for you. It's not a magic bullet, it's just a tool, not a solution.
