Today is my one year surgiversary!
GradyCat replied to FancyChristine15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh wow, you're my hero! Congratulations and Happy Surgiversary! -
Do we have the same mother-in-law? Mine too! She'll talk about her friends, "She's as wide as she is tall" and "She's really large" instead of talking about their personalities or generosity or kindness and I can't help but wonder how describes me to others, probably, "My daughter-in-law is really, really big." It drives me nuts! She knows I'm a large girl, so how can she speak ill of other large people around me? Insensitive and unnecessary! And, to top it off, my MIL isn't exactly small herself!

I use a vanilla protein shake as creamer in my coffee. That way I get protein and coffee simultaneously!

Eating too fast, not chewing enough, or???
GradyCat replied to CurvyMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've thrown up "the foamies" (no food, just mucus) when I eat something too dense and then I know my body's not ready for it. Items include soft tortillas, steak, and ham. -
Nope, I've never swallowed gum. Can't imagine it'll hurt you though.
-
Yes it's very common for them to find them and repair them during surgery. I had a small hiatal hernia they repaired with mine.
-
Well sure, you're excited and nervous. That's normal.
-
I've not heard that. I've thrown up the "foamies" with the sleeve when I eat a food I can't tolerate.

Hair loss & Biotin when did you start taking it?
GradyCat replied to Alikiinz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 3 months post-op and I just bought the Biotin gummies at Walgreens and am starting them now. -
They told me to bring mine to the hospital too but they never used it either. I was compliant with it post-surgery when I got home, no problems. But now I've lost 35 pounds since surgery (50 altogether) and I don't think I need the CPAP anymore. I did an at-home sleep study last week and am just awaiting the results. I had very mild sleep apnea to begin with too.
-
That's a good story. Hubby and I are doing that too, ordering one entree and getting an extra plate and I'll eat a piece or two of whatever he's having and ordering a glass of water, which I really don't end up drinking.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
GradyCat replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Okay, so now I have a better understanding of how this can work and I am going to give it a try. I'm sort of accidentally already doing it, I think. LOL! I am working my way through this thread and will catch up with all of the iterations of IF plans, how everybody's doing and find a workable plan for me. Wish me luck! -
Lifting weight/working out
GradyCat replied to elinator_34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was doing cardio in the gym 2 weeks post-surgery, but my doctor said to wait 6 weeks before doing any lifting greater than 10 pounds and to be careful and increase weight gradually. -
Take what the nutritionists tell you seriously and stick to 600-800 calories/day, with protein being the main ingredient. Get your 64 oz of water or liquids in each day.
-
Never heard of such a thing. Good luck at your doctor's appointment.

Showering with Hibiclens?
GradyCat replied to Briswife15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, I was required to do that too. It's just like shower gel, very easy to do, paying special attention to your stomach where the surgery will be taking place. Easy peasy. -
Maybe I'm Being Sensitive, But...
GradyCat replied to FancyChristine15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
He shouldn't have continued down that thread of thought out loud . . . People can be insensitive. -
You made me look at mine . . . me too! Thanks for making me notice this. 🙂

Hello fellow Kentuckian! I didn't have Wellcare, but Humana, and I am in KY. It only took a coupkle of weeks once the surgeon's office had all of the records to review and submitted all the forms to the insurance company. Good luck!
-
I couldn't drink the hot broth or jello in the hospital either - the thought of them made me gag. I was so happy to have water with Crystal light while in the hospital when I was finally allowed to have liquids - it was the best taste ever! Good luck on your weight loss journey.
-
You're still on liquids, right? When you get to soft foods and real food, you'll feel the fullness. You won't be able to eat much more than 2 oz and you'll feel full right away.

I see it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Bariatric-Advantage-Replacement-Chocolate-Servings/dp/B004WQJUCC?th=1

Congrats on your surgery date and good luck on your weight loss journey.
-
That's a good feeling when things start getting normal and back into a routine.
-
Congrats and thanks for the encouragement!
