Pumping Stomach full of air?
GradyCat replied to april042019's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You still need to do the pre-op diet to make sure your liver isn't enlarged prior to surgery. Yes, they pump in "air" to expand your stomach so they can reach things, but your liver still needs to be in good shape for the surgery. You'll release gas within the couple of days post-op and your stomach will deflate. It's no big deal. They do it with every laparoscopic surgery. It's normal. I had it too. -
It's just your body adjusting. It'll come. Wait for it. Keep around 600 calories and make sure to get your water and protein in. It'll work.

Sorry you're not feeling well. Good luck with your doctor appointment tomorrow, I think it's a good idea that you're going to get checked out.

Support with No Family around
GradyCat replied to Chardonnay40's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon's office offered a support group, maybe yours does? -
You can spend time preparing small healthy meals, relax on some internet sites, take a walk around the block . . .

There are lots of good recipe sites online and you can cook many of them in the microwave, but regular stove and oven are fine too without having to get extra appliances. Try https://www.bariatriccookery.com/recipes-2, https://www.skinnytaste.com/, and more

You can double-check with your dietitian.

Don't worry. The first few weeks are weird with transitioning from the trauma of surgery and restricted liquid diet, etc. I lost 7 pounds the first week, 5 pounds the second week, then stalled for two weeks while transitioning so soft and solid foods. Each body is different and it just takes a little while for our bodies to catch up with what we did to them.

I'm not an expert, but from what I've read compression garments only hold skin in place. Loose skin results from age, genetics, how fast you lost weight, and how much weight you lost and that skin is just tissue and nothing topical or external will affect how much loose skin one gets when weight loss occurs.

2 yr weight history
GradyCat replied to Shanda_2019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh wow, I had no idea insurance companies went back that far to require info. I guess my medical records for the past two years showed my weight history because I don't remember having to fill that out. -
From reading the forums it seems like a lot of people have trouble getting down the protein drinks, but I never had any problem. I used the GNC Lean Shakes pre-made protein drinks.

Belly button cut?
GradyCat replied to Jezzabelle360's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a prior laparoscopic surgery that went through my belly button, so it's possible. -
Cheating on Pre-Op Liver Shrinking Diet
GradyCat replied to Elizabeth94's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You need to be as safe and healthy as possible for surgery and to shrink your liver, so stick to the diet from this point out so that you can have your scheduled surgery and be okay. Okay? -
Help im gaining weight at10 months post op
GradyCat replied to apositivelife4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep tracking your food intake in an app like MyFitnessPal or something and stick between 600-800 calories per day. Have you attended classes at your surgeon's office? Have you considered visiting the nutritionist? Best to get back on track before it gets out of hand. -
No wine/alcohol for one year?
GradyCat replied to shanshan's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine hasn't told me that, but I have read that after surgery we have to be careful because with our new stomachs the alcohol will be intensified and affect us/make us drunk a lot faster. -
How much weight did you lose before people noticed?

Wearing bi-pap machine after surgery
GradyCat replied to Awilkerson83's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They had me bring my CPAP machine to the hospital with me, they said they were going to use it in the recovery room while I was asleep and during my hospital stay but they never did. I was fine. -
Oh that's awful! I'd be wanting to punch him. Of course he can do a clearance! All he has to do is state your current GI situation. Oh how frustrating! Good luck getting a new one.

I've never tried it. Not a big fruit fan except for bananas sometimes
-
Yes, sweets have always been my downfall and I was loving me some sugar-free popsicles just after surgery

Does Walmart rotisserie chicken have too much sodium?
GradyCat replied to skinny4kids's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I looked it up on MyFitnessPal.com and it doesn't look like it has too much sodium. 47 g for 1 oz -
