You won't be able to tolerate certain foods now and it varies from person to person. Rice is sticky. I'm two years post-op and I still can't eat but barely a forkful of pasta or bread or steak or anything dense without my body rejecting it. I stick with protein.

Woo-Hoo! Isn't that a GREAT feeling! Congrats!

Oh sure it's scary wondering if you're going to overdo it or stretch something or tolerate certain foods. Just take your time.

Congratulations! Glad you didn't have any complications or issues and that you're doing well.

That's WONDERFUL! Good job.

Good post. Take care. -
I still drink 1 or 2 protein shakes daily, so maybe you can add that into your diet.

There are some foods that give me what we call here in the forums "the foamies" which is not really throwing up the food, but throwing up some mucus. It's caused by a food intolerance that your stomach can no longer take due to density or texture or processing. I can't eat much of fried foods without getting the foamies. At a year post-op I still can't eat steak or soft tortillas or bread.

3 month supervised diet
GradyCat replied to brejones89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each doctor's office will have slightly different plans, some will be calorie restrictions like < 1500 calories/day, some will be focus on protein. But you can bet it's cut out fat and processed foods. -
They use cauliflower for so many things these days. Who knew?! 😀

When did you stop loosing weight?
GradyCat replied to Dee2938's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You'll keep losing for 12-18 months. It's just a stall. Hang in there and stick with the program. -
6 days post op

Are you using powdered protein shakes or pre-made shakes? I couldn't do powdered shakes, so I did and still do GNC Lean Shakes (premade) -
Glad you're doing okay and good luck on your continued weight loss journey.

Enjoying food is gone?
GradyCat replied to imaginegirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You won't be able to eat much quantity, but the quality of what you eat is up to you. I eat very small portions, for instance I can't finish 1/4 lb cheeseburger even without the bun. I can eat one taco. Also, your tastes change after surgery and sometimes there'll be foods your stomach will no longer tolerate. For me it's soft breads/tortillas and steak that I can't eat. -
What is a girl to wear?
GradyCat replied to Tiredmimi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You won't need pajamas or robe. You'll stay in your hospital gown where there's a pocket for the heart monitor you'll be on and your arm will be tethered with the IV line, so you won't be able to change into pajamas anyway. -
Now that you mention it, they gave me coffee the morning after surgery too.
-
Congrats on your weight loss. You might want to consider whether this is something you feel you'd rather do on your own now that you've proven you can be successful or whether you want to continue with the surgery. Either decision, of course, is fine.
