I've had that reaction too from a few people. Why can't you just lose weight normally? I get mad cause obviously it's not that easy and not like I've tried! Tons of factors come into play. I think people just might not know what to say about the whole surgery thing. Surgery to some is probably very traumatic. All that matters is that we are choosing to better ourselves. Whether its through surgery, non surgery or what ever other method they need to see that! When's your surgery? Mine is Dec 26th...my moms bday! I sure hope everything goes well!

Here is mine :-) I'm 5mths post op and down 114lbs :-)

I am a few days shy of the two month mark... i am down 76 pounds so far

Down 65 pounds at 12 weeks post op

This is the first time posting any pics. I am a couple days shy of 2 mos post op. Down 46lbs.

I love this idea of the before and after pics! I just had my surgery 3 days ago but look forward to being able to post here eventually.

I had surgery almost 10 months ago. Hubby is just eatting better

I remember being pre-op and my favorite thing to do was look at progress photos and dream
I am 6 months, 10 days post op and I am down 128 pounds total. This isnt a very great pic since I have been sick, but i still took it because anything is better than my before!!

I've had multiple abdominal surgeries for endometriosis and had little gas. Wonder how this surgery will be? I'm expecting it to be a breeze because the other ones I've had were horribly painful!

I am not one for therapy or self-help junk... but I have to say that I did read the book Never Binge Again (and it's not just about binge eating, but dealing with cravings... which was my issue)... and it is the most amazing book I've ever read. It is funny and realistic and awesome. It's cheap and on Amazon and pretty short... check it out! I actually have only read half and the first few chapters of his no-nonsense tips and logic have virtually squashed all cravings I've had (given me REAL tools to make them disappear). The author was an obese psychologist who worked for "Big Food" making food more addictive to the consumer... who eventually lost a ton of weight and realized how eff'd up his job was and decided to help people lose weight instead.

I had my sleeve yesterday and everything went smoothly. My biggest complaint is the gas, it is no joke.

We're practically the same size. My surgery is on dec 26. Everyone is different. Just take it day by day. That's all we can do. We are doing this to better ourselves.

There are two quotes love in regards to this weight loss journey
"Comparison is thief of joy," and "Men have become the tools of their tools."
This is "your" journey and someone else is on "their" journey... You are not on the same race track, even though you are running the same type of race. Everything about your race and everything about their race is completely different. Don't lose sight of your own journey, race, goals, etc... by comparing yourself to the differences of others.
Where you are today, is not where you will be tomorrow. Don't let someone else's today steal your hope for tomorrow.

This is really important for us newer sleevers to hear because we are trying to gauge our success. I've realized I can't really go by what the surgeon says. At 5'3" and a starting weight of 243, he expected me to be able to lose 30+ pounds in the first six weeks. I'm sticking to plan and made it to 19.6 lost at 6 weeks. That encounter alone left me feeling like I'm failing. But I see that many people lose at a rate similar to mine, who started with similar body weight.
