Just keep trying different things till u find something u like . I cannot eat enough to get my protein in so I am committed to using drinks and Soups until that improves

    Hi everyone
I've been lurking these boards for quite some time pre op and found you all to be very useful in keeping me motivated so I thought I'd finally throw myself in and start posting. I'm from the UK, England and was sleeved on the 28th December so I'm almost 2 weeks into my post op journey. I was on the milk diet for Christmas day so I've figured if I managed that then I can manage any day.
Things are going well and I seem to have had a super fast, pain free recovery compared to some from what I've read on here. (Sorry if anybody is going through a difficult recovery and is reading this - I don't mean to rub it in!) I'm looking forward to getting off of puree food now though, the texture just isn't doing it for me! x

This water is real problem for me. When I'm not drinking a Protein Shake, I'm eating and trying to up my calories and it leaves very little time to drink all the water. It still makes me a little nauseous and I have tried adding all kinds of things to make it more appealing.

Baritastic. Great app. It was recommended to me when I got sleeved almost a month ago. I track Water, food, exercise, and weight loss. It breaks down the food for you as far as Protein, carbs, and fat and you can scan in the upc codes and it has yet to recognize one for me so far. You can also say it or look it up. Highly recommend it.

Got it! Denser drier Proteins will keep hunger at bay for longer, higher Carbs counts, especially refined simple carbs, tend to spark hunger in people when it didn't exist prior. Foods that are easy to eat and go down easier (often called sliders) whether healthy choices or not will leave you hungry sooner. When planning your meals keep that info in mind.
Google and Pinterest are wonderful places for reference but bug your team for more information when you feel lost.
Do you have a NUT? Ask for a few sample meal plans.

I had some crab salad today and was only able to get about 3 tablespoons down and I felt full. About 2 hours later I was hungry again. I try drinking Water each time I feel hungry, just to be sure it's actually hunger. If I'm still hungry within 15mins of drinking the water then I will wait another 15 and eat something. I just hope I'm doing it all right! I'm so scared of "stretching the pouch" or eating something that will set me up for failure just because it goes down easy or feels good on my stomach. I'm sure I'm not the only one worried about all this or stressing when there's nothing saying I'm doing it wrong.

I get why you are worried I am too. Not sure what I should be eating or how much. I am also snacking a couple times a day. I think it's cause our stomachs are so much smaller that once we are full it takes a little bit for everything to digest then we get hungry again. I'm eating well though on my own and getting the Protein I need through food. I'm staying away from fatty foods. I did have a couple pieces of chocolate though to see if I could handle them and I could. I had chicken salad today for lunch and ate a little bit of it and I was sooo full! It's weird cause tuna I can eat more of it.

I am now exactly 1 month post-op (vsg)and slowly trying new foods. I pay attention to the nutritional information on all of my foods, trying to ensure I'm eating well. I look for foods high in Protein, low in fat, and even lower in carbs. I document EVERYTHING in Myfitness Pal and I'm steady around 480-525 calories per day; which I'm assuming is okay with this new, much smaller pouch(?) I wait 30 minutes after my last drink before I eat and I then wait 30 mins after eating to drink again. I'm doing well with my water; staying around 70oz daily. Still, I constantly worry: Am I eating right?

Jean9 reacted to Matt Z in Confessional - Lets post our cheats/confessions/etc so others can see that we are all human
I figured it would be nice to have a section where we could just confess to some of the potentially dumb things we've done, pre or post op. Just so others can see we are all human. I want this to be kept as civil as possible, where people can own up to things without anyone else chiming in with anything negative, we all know what we did wasn't "right" but I'm sure we ALL have done something we shouldn't have.

    I'll start.

I cheated on my pre-op diet a few times. I also like to find loop holes and exploit the crap out of them. I drank beer for a week+ on my pre-op, because it didn't say I couldn't. I only stopped after I was forced to, because my wife asked my surgeon and of course they said "no"... boo. I also ate a whole slice of French meat Pie at my Dad's 60th birthday luncheon.

I cheated on my post-op diet/puree stage a bit too. I ate rice cakes and Protein chips or other veggie chips. Not a lot, but it happened. I "pureed" a steak and cheese sandwich once. I ate a few fried ravioli on my puree stage as well.

This past weekend, I had a beer. My wife and I took my parents out to dinner at a local casino, it's Restaurant week, so we found a good looking location and went out to eat, part of the deal was that you got a draft beer with your meal. So, I had a shipyard summer ale with my grilled chicken parm sandwich (only ended up eating 3 bites of the chicken and none of the bread).

I did all that thus far and nothing bad happened.
I understand the changes are to ensure we stick to our diets, but understanding that we are all human and WILL either slip up or just stray from our diets on purpose like I did. It's good to see that, it's possible to still live and be able to enjoy a few things we "shouldn't" without any negatives happening.

    So, what's your WLS confession?

Hi everyone, I’m glad I found this forum! I’m never quite sure about posting on the Facebook pages because many people don’t know that I’ve had surgery.
I’m 3 weeks post op tomorrow, and feel better overall than I expected. I sometimes forget that Imcant take these big bites of food, and to slow down. I was having a terrible time with diarrhea, but figured out it was the Vitamins, and so I switched. Problem solved but now the scale shows I’m up 6 pounds since Sunday! It could be Water, I’ve been having a hard time getting in all that I should, plus adding soft foods the last few days maybe? I was down 40 since Dec 5th (pre-op) but now it’s 36. Still, a good problem to have
My first follow up with the Nutritionist is Friday morning. I’ll ask her about it, plus about some food ideas. I’m still working on getting used to all of this, so I keep reminding myself to be patient. (Not my virtue, but I’m working on it.)
I live in the Seattle area, and I have a big family.
Just thought I’d introduce myself. Hope to be checking in and participating regularly! Oh! My name is Stacia.

Sleeved 12/26/18. Lost 14 lbs the first week but haven't lost anything in past week! So upset. I get the required Protein, but not the Water amount. I am just about to start soft foods tomorrow. I get more calories each day and up 600-700 now. I just keep waiting for the scale to move but it has not for 6 days. I thought I wasn't getting enough calories but the first week I only got 200-300. UHG!

58 days since surgery. My total weight loss is up to 69 lbs. It really hits home when I see photos. The left was the day of my surgery (May 10) and I was 477. The right is today, I was 408 lbs.

I am almost in the 300 lb club again!

Just think about the future. A little pain for alot of gain!!! Just take little sips. I hurt for a week and even when I drank Water it hurt. I had my sleeve done on dec 26th and I'm on the pureed stage. But 5 days out of surgery I was eating a scrambled egg cause I couldn't handle the Protein Shakes. Everyone is different. Everyone heals on their own pace. We will all get through this. This is a great site to connect with others who are going through what you are going through. Keep up the good work.

Congrats on having the surgery and also for asking for help! That's the 1st step with anything!!! You want to start back up and that's huge! I'm just a couple weeks out of surgery so I'm no expert but I do try to find positivity with most things. It's been rough for me too. I lost my mom on dec 20th and had my surgery on the 26th. So yea..I havent been top motivated to do anything! What is helping me get through each day is the fact that I have each day to get better. It's one day at a time! Start slow getting as much Protein as you can. Try to eliminate the carbs and go from there. This isn't a sprint! It's a life long marathon that we can get through. We had the surgery so we could better ourselves. So that's what we need to do. I'm here if you need someone to chat with

Hi I definitely had hunger pains and the feeling of being hungry early on. I couldn't stand it lol. They've gotten better but just like the other person said, I'll eat something and feel semi full...dont want to over do it and then like a couple hrs later I'm hungry again. I'll drink something or have a popsicle. Today was my 1st day back at work. Had a scrambled egg with a little bit of cheese for Breakfast then a little leftover chicken with a few sweet potato fries. Now its almost 2 hrs later and I'm beginning to feel hungry. I have a yogurt that I'll eat slowly. Tonight think I'm going to venture out and get rotisserie chicken and make some chicken salad for dinner and then for lunches. There are sooo many ideas out there to try I cant wait! I soooooo want spaghetti so I think I'm going to make zoodles with marinara sauce and parmesan cheese.
