When BFF is a dedicated online shopper like you, but totally too lazy to do returns, BUT not too lazy to come by for a coffee with a too-big item cum gift in hand: They are super tall, and make my butt stick out when I walk in them. I doubt I'd be able to wear them out in the wild for very long before my arches snap. Mr. says they have an "F-me" vibe, like in a stern, librarian kind of way...lolololzzz. I don't disagree.

@Sophie7713...hey i like that black lantern sleeve top. Did i read correctly that is the top half of a dress? Are you wearing the dress underneath? Can we see it????? I did a deep dive into my closet as well as the Kid's, and between the two of us, we don't have a single item of animal print clothing between us! Which is odd, since I feel like I should have, right??? All I got is this OOTD pic I posted last year wearing the Kid's elementary school Halloween costume (when she was in the 6th grade, lol). It's as close to animal print clothes as I can get: https://www.bariatricpal.com/gallery/image/96858-17-sep-2020/ @Drain84: looking sharp as usual. I expect nothing less from you!

Methinks someone should be wearing leg baring clothes more often! More shorts? More minisirts? Whatever, so long as you show off the gams.

Didn't get around to eating my salad leftovers from yesterday so am eating it now. Added a bit more ham, a half can of smoked oysters and a couple tbsps of seafood sauce. Since I logged the whole salad yesterday, am just logging the stuff I added to it today: 176 calories. I'm looking at it now and doubt I will eat it all, and will probably toss what I don't eat (the romaine is not as crisp as I want it to be). We shall see. -
Food cravings 6 weeks post op
ms.sss replied to alandk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, as you are only 6 weeks post-op, really, if you can, try to just hold off and knuckle through it. The longer you stay away, the less frequent (and nagging) they become.. If you continually satisfy them, they will likely continue to torment you. Try distraction (go for a walk, run some errands, read a book, do some chores, take a shower, paint ur nails…), or drink some water instead. Even just 30 mins of abstaining may make the craving go away. Second, for ME (ymmv), it helped to think about it as “not now, but maybe later”. Never is a strong word, and knowing that some day or time in the future I would be able to do/have something i want eases the mind. And its funny because later down the road, I realized i didn’t even miss is it (i’m looking as you rice and pasta and bread). Third, to answer ur question, i had fried food about 3-4 months post op, albeit it was only like 1 ring of lightly breaded calamari…and i was all, meh. I had bread and pasta for the first time at around 2 years post op (and only because Mr. makes a mean milk bread and ridiculously tender pasta). I have it very rarely though, and in relatively very small amounts (its very filling for me). Rice, to this day i have not had, except for maybe a total of 3 maki roll pieces in the past 3 years. And this is saying something, as i am Asian, and pre-op, and I had rice practically every day, often multiple times a day. And now, honestly, I could do without. I am perfectly happy with what i can and do eat these days (but i admit my diet is not the “healthiest”, and would probably make some folks clutch their pearls, lol) Soooo…this is my long-winded response to say: its’s early. Yes, it may be challenging. Stick to the plan as long as you can and you will thank yourself. This period is only temporary. Good Luck! ❤️ -
What does 4-5 months out look like for you?
ms.sss replied to jenny8791's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would say go with what u can handle…i know from being on these forums for 3 years that my daily cals back then were on the very low side of the range that most people were eating at the same stage. I was blessed (or cursed, depending in how u look at it) with very, very, very little interest or desire to eat. So going as low as i did was relatively low-effort and angst-free for ME. So long as u are consistently at a caloric deficit you will be successful. P.S. Fast forward to now and it now seems (based on what i’ve read on here) that i am on the higher end of average daily calories consumed for my size and stage post op. So who knows? We all operate on different gears…i am of the mind that success is based on one’s ability to determine that gear and operate effectively in it, as well as adapt when those gears change. Good luck! ❤️ -

Dumping for 4 days straight? Need advice.
ms.sss replied to HajEddie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, sleevers do dump. I’m a sleeve, and i dump on excess sugar. That your surgeon does not know this is possibly cause for concern… Second, despite the fact that you are experiencing the classic symptoms of dumping, the fact that you have not really eaten (nor drank?) anything prior to symptoms would indicate its not dumping. As i write this, I wonder if you are drinking protein shakes? Perhaps you are sensitive to artificial sweeteners in them? Could explain this also if your jello is made of the stuff? But anyhoo, its good u have an appt with urgent care. Good luck and hope you get to the bottom of it ❤️ -
Oh, how i love NOT being the biggest one in the room. Can we see some clothes? My clothes porn addiction is second only to my food porn one…

I eat alot of salads. All my salads look pretty much the same. So here's something a little different: a pic of the mise en place instead, lol. Romaine, vinaigrette, carrots, cucumbers, apples, kimchi, cheddar, smoked oysters, salami w/ prosciutto slices: 368 calories. Ate a bit more than 1/2, will eat the rest later, unless someone in the fam gets to it first. -
I can't stop buying clothes. Which is pretty ridiculous really cuz I don't really have anywhere to go to wear most of them. Le sigh. This morning's Bargain du Jour: 2 pieces of a 3-piece blue-grey linen suit that was on clearance. Which i got a further 50% off of because the jacket was missing for the set, and I didn't want a larger one that was available. Yay deals! I'll need to get the pants hemmed (i'm already wearing 3.5 inch heels under there but they are still way too long, jeez. And I want to change the tortoiseshell looking buttons on the vest to covered ones in the same material to make it all fancier. Add a belt and slingbacks and i'm ready to go.....nowhere. Whomp whomp. With a shirt tucked in, with no shirt, with a shirt un-tucked. I like it best with no shirt, but if I did wear one, I think a long sleeved one would look better.

Different people, different ideas. Take what info you deem useful for YOU and leave the rest. Personally, i give kudos to you for questioning and researching and educating yourself. Too many people follow heaps of advice given to them because they believe these people surely must know better. Sometimes they may, sometimes they may not. For what its worth, i stopped drinking protein shakes around the time I reached goal. Since then, I’ve probably reached my protein goal (60g a day..NOTE: i am on the the small side: 5’2”, 115.9 lbs this morning, and exercise regularly) with just regular food maybe 75% of the time. Im 3 years out now, have been maintaining my current weight (+/- 5lbs) for over 2 years; every single one of my labs have come back satisfactorily (last one in April, my next one is end of this month); my body fat percentage in April was 19% (so i have zero issues regarding muscle mass) ; and I feel fab. Do you, boo. You’re doing great. -
Not if I get there first and stretch it out 😂 It's stretchy already. We can all share. 😉

How do I slow my eating down?
ms.sss replied to erica1030's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used the timer on my watch to time my bites. If remember correctly, I did 2 or 3 minutes between single bites. As time went on I would have 2-3 bites at a time (finishing and swallowing what was in my mouth before i put anymore in), then as more time passed, I'd shorten the interval. And yes, it took me FOREVER to eat. Good Luck! ❤️ -
Please help! 15 months post!!! And confused
ms.sss replied to Dalila Davids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny, I tried to set 130 as my "redline" weight but my mind and emotions had other ideas. When I hit 127, my anxiety level is such that I immediately start working on getting it back down. So my de facto limit is 127, LOL. I was the same way. My self-imposed "happy weight range" is 115-120. I made a deal with myself that if I ever reach 120 for five days in a row, I have to work to get all the way back to 115. And like you, when I get to like 118, i'm all: Crap! I may as well drop a lb or two now instead of having to lose 5 if/when i reach 120. I've had to do it 3 times in the past 3 years and it gets progressively longer to do (1 wk, then 3 weeks, then 3 months)....so, yeah. During the 3 month long attempt to get back to 115 (albeit, i didn't try very hard), I was seriously considering upping my happy weight range, though. If it happens again, I just might. We'll see. Now, on the other side of things, I don't worry too much if i drop below 115, as when I have, it doesn't last very long (except for the couple months after plastics), and it goes back to 115-ish with zero effort. -
Thanks, Sophs!...I've missed you as I have wishMeSmaller. Glad you guys made an appearance. ❤️ If/when pandemic is over we all need to get together wearing our ribbed dresses and roam the streets like a gang. I call first dibs on your soon to be completed guest room!!!! 😂 P.S. Fab moto jacket!!!! I looooove the colour.

The only thing that keeps me full
ms.sss replied to lizonaplane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
*Maybe* that constant hunger u are feeling is GERD/excess stomach acid? …and the warm “herbal-ness” of your teas are soothing it? I’ve read on here that GERD sometimes feels like hunger…never felt this myself, but there have been members on here who have posted about this… -
Oohhhhhhn yeeaaahhhhh….my favouite Amazonian (i.e., tall, lol) queen is baaaaaaack. (I’ve missed you!) Glad ur asthma issues have been dealt with ❤️ Am seriously loving that dress (I’m going through a love affair with gold/champagne/beige coloured clothes and shoes at the moment…and this fits right in). What is the material made of? Is it flowy or crinkly/rouchy? Either way, you are wearing it fabulously well. P.S. Bargain hunters unite!

I didnt poop until 10 days after coming home…if you include the days i was in hospital, my first poop showed up in 12 days. Oh, and it was a doozy. *shudder* Being regular was a challenge the first 5-6 months, honestly. Here was what I did to combat it: - benefibre every morning in my protein shake, drank lots of water - if no poop in 3-4 days, took a dose of Milk of Magnesia for 1-2 days. - if no poop 1-2 days after the round of MOM, glycerin suppository time. I got much more regular after weight loss phase when i started eating more (thanks fatty foods, lol). I’m 3 years out now, and i poop every 2-3 days, so thankfully its no longer an issue. P.S. Not sure if you are on them, but pain meds and iron supplements will back you up considerably…so keep that in mind.
