    Weight Loss Scale

I feel weighing every day is obsessive. You do realise your weight changes throughout the day and it can take a few days for your body to feel the effects of the past days. Your weight can fluctuate every day and throughout the day just due to water weight or if you're bloated one day or you eat something different that day. Once a week, first thing in the morning the same time every week so it's most accurate. Then there's people that carry weight in different parts of the body and that's when you should look at the inches rather than lbs. Just keep your mind focused on hitting your liquid go and protein goals don't stress too much
  2. I would look at BMI for one but then realised it's a very vague scale. I did find guys my height and built and see what weights they were so that helped. Even though I've been OBESE most of my life I did get down to 200lbs about 7 years ago and for me being 185cm and big boned family that WEIGHT was good but I feel I could have lost more so this time I'm starting now at 315 I feel this time my perfect weight would be ultimately 180-190 my doctor surgeon he basically said he would be happy just to get me to lose 100 to get to 215 or better so I feel personally just set goals as you go along each time you get that goal see where you body is because it's not just about a number is also about your waist line and your frame and your overall feeling and of course how you look in the mirror and that you feel confidence! Then there's medical to be healthy risk free of course! My surgeon really just wants me to lose weight there's no major number but every pound that comes off I'll be healthier with lower BSL BP etc As I said above set small goals and then beat them. my first goal is to be under 300; then under 250; then under 200 Goodluck

    VITAMIN HELP RNY

I'm very curious to see what everyone has been told about vitamins post op? Is it possible to just find a decent multivitamin or does your doctor/Dietician specify what vitamins are needed? I've heard B12 is very important? Tell me your daily vitamin routine. My surgery is still months away but my starting weight is 320lbs my goal is anything under 220 but overall goal in my mind is 185lbs.
  4. Very important to get a good sleep to help body digest

Sleeves Any regrets????why and why not????

No logic.. living with obesity will shorten your life every single day!! Complications are few and far between but even so they aren't fatal lol
  6. Don't let anyone get you down. It's your life. Your future. They are jealous and will be even more so when they see how happy and healthy you are! Let them stay fat and unhealthy...
  7. Thought I'd give everybody the heads up. I'm in Adelaide I found a local Amcal chemist that have their own range of vitamins and found B12 1000mcg that dissolves on your tongue for half the price of Blackmore and I spoke to pharmacist and he said the other one has fancy packaging that's it they both are same strength and so the same thing... An example Blackmore $18 for 60 Amcal generic $16 for 120 Excellent saving there!!! They also had same calcium and magnesium maybe next time you're near an Amcal have a look!

    Post op since 2011

400 should be able to lose 200
  9. Yeah it's amazing how you lose friends after surgery but those are the ones who are in denial about their own weight issues and don't like being told when they are eating junk... Don't worry about them...

    VSG Post Op Report

Thank you for that very detailed insight!
  11. As you said you crave junk and may not realise how many calories you are having everyday...
  12. I really don't get that requirement like if we could lose weight on our own we wouldn't be having surgery and obviously they can see your struggles with weight and your co-morbidities.. no diet has worked before why will it now...... So glad in Australia all I've had to do was see Dr then surgeon then Dietician then have surgery... No silly weight loss plans or psychological BS...

    Pre OP diet

Don't stress my Dr said it's mostly to shrink liver to make surgery safer but if I'm able to lose a few lbs good for me
  14. Well my immediate family were all skinny healthy active growing up, so was I until teenage years puberty locked my weight gain into high gear. My dad later in life was big butt not obese was fit like a swimmer early in life. My mum was skinny all her life until she had her 8 kids but still no where near obese. Out of 8 children I was the only one really dealing with my weight from a young age but now my sister is 32 with 6 kids she's gained like 60lbs over the years. All her kids are hyperactive and fit healthy weight, my eldest niece is 16, 5ft10, 150lbs skinny slim. Pretty much all my niece's and nephews are fit and healthy very active BMX racing, cub scouts etc I've dealt with my weight now for like 20 years and it's definitely hindered my chances of starting a family or even having a real relationship but I'm definitely hoping all that will change once I lose the weight, tone up and get healthy I'll be ready to meet a nice girl Never too old to start a family, being a man!

    It really works!

I can't wait like I only eat because I'm always so hungry so I hope I lose that hunger and if I can live off very little I'll lose weight quickly and save money on food I'm currently stocking up on protein powders ready for my pre-op diet i can't wait to have a new life!!
  18. New&Improved

    It really works!

Hey I haven't got to that stage yet I'm still waiting but the dr did say I'll need a pre-op diet of either 3 protein shakes a day or 2 shakes and a small cup of vegetables or tuna, all high protein, low carbs but the dietitian will make the specific directions when the time comes... But I've read tons of information on post op and to do liquid as long as you can for your body to adjust and heal must get protein and water in every day protein helps heal. Some people are able to move to solids sooner but personally I plan to stick to liquids and mush for long as I can to train my body to fill up on less food.. I really hope my hunger goes away!!

    Changed mind about WLS?

    Absolutely correct!!!
  22. New&Improved

How long is the RNY surgery, typically?

Well you'll be staying in the hospital overnight at least but I'm pretty sure I read the surgery is usually about 90mins but it can vary for numerous reasons just tell him to wait, bring a book or iPad if he needs to keep occupied lol

    Changed mind about WLS?

Yeah I agree I can't understand people being so nervous. I cannot wait I'm so excited for my surgery to begin. I've been thinking about it for a while and I'm super happy because the alternative is dying of heart attack and dying early. Just like one been watching the one ton family and this guy 700lbs is getting all worked up about possible complications but dude you're going to die very soon if you don't get help!!! Surgery has been done 1000s of times and the rate of complications is very very small seriously... And yes as above we only hear about complications people don't talk much about good things even in the paper or the news is always bad stuff talked about.. My doctor said no problems don't stress we've been doing this for 20 years!! Think about the future. Think about a life without health risks. Think about looking and feeling like a new person. Think about living a long healthy life!
