  1. RNY = roux en y bypass
  2. The surgeon should have told you heart burn GERD is a main component of the sleeve and bypass will most likely be needed to fix it...
  3. I've met many ppl who say they didn't lose everything they wanted with the sleeve and it took longer than people on bypass and in my experience this is the first time in my life I've ever lost this much ever and ever got this low on the scale and before surgery every little thing I ate would gain weight and now in maintenance I've had a few treats and it has not affected me weight at all...... The sleeve is really just to limit the volume of food that's about it the bypass rearranges your intestines and changes your metabolism; there's a ton of research to explain the metabolic changes.. I know look skinny and have metabolism of skinny person and I feel amazing!!
  4. Hope all is well Here in Australia in my state we are starting to ease covid-19 restrictions opening some shops this week and cinemas and gyms and restaurants next month but still with social distancing and limits on numbers. I've been well and everyone I know and love is well. Anyway just want to summarise my journey for those who are new. I started my weight loss journey 8.5 months ago at 322lbs and I had roux en y bypass 6.5 months ago. From day one I chose to go cold turkey and cut out all the bad food sugar fat carbs and lived off protein shakes religiously for months. By surgery day I was 257lbs and I've now technically been in maintenance a few weeks and this morning I'm 168lbs most days between 168/170lbs and have been that way for a few weeks; finally starting to feel good about myself that's a total of 154lbs gone. Now when I look in the mirror I do not recognise myself anymore it's amazing to see how small I look now. Everyone in my family is so happy for me because I spent half my life obese and unwell mentally not just physically but now my mental health is improving because I no longer dislike what I see in the mirror; is amazing how much my brain has changed now that I'm healthy and skinny. I've only just started experimenting with food more than past 2 months and have relaxed in the carb counting/calorie counting but still quite aware of my daily intake. i will admit I've had a few treats here and there in the past month but it literally has not affected me weight loss at all.. It's like I have a completely new metabolism.. I love coffee and I feel great mentally and physically and I cannot wait to meet a nice young lady who will appreciate me. I'll be 36 in 11 weeks and I'm feeling better than I have in 20 years I personally think and feel like I'm going to be 26 hehehehehe I've got a few photos to show you guys and I appreciate honest comments from the ladies (it's not easy to take photos & get good angle of myself but I did my best) Thank you. If you have any questions about my bypass or anything feel free to comment or PM. Starting BMI 43.3 current BMI 22.7 Love Mikey xx
  5. RNY BYPASS has been amazing.. Had surgery 6 months ago and lost about 90lbs since then but 152lbs since beginning my pre-op diet 8 months ago... Personally I wanted the malabsorption and the change internally and I've noticed my metabolism it's so much better than it was, after I reached goal and now in maintenance I've had a few treats and it has not made a difference but I was super strict on myself for 8 months weighed daily and logged my calories.. I was very lucky post op I had very little desire to eat and I lived off protein shakes for months; my own choice.. Even now there's days where I'm not hungry but others I'll have a craving but it usually goes away... I've gone from Super obese to skinny and maintaining at 170lbs now for a month and feel like a new man. I lost 150lbs since I started this journey 8 months ago it literally melted off me with very little exercise even.. I'm not sure why I've been so lucky with only a few days or a week stall in the whole process.. I'm 35 male. I started at 6ft0 and 322lbs and was obese for like 15 years before surgery... I'm now at 169/170 most days and feel amazing and I've never got this low before without surgery... The bypass changed my metabolism so much..
  6. Was able to shed 152lbs in 8 months and below my goal
  7. Yeah within 6 months post op I hit goal and everyone now calls me skinny and I feel like a new man..
  8. After a few days your body will adjust to it I was on Shakes for months my own choice
  9. My surgery was bypass and it has been amazing. I know for a fact it has changed my metabolism and the way my body processes food it's like I struggle to gain weight now.. Within 8 months I'm now below my goal weight and maintaining very well and still some days I'm not even hungry other days I'll have a craving and I'll have a treat here and there but it has not affected my progress at all. But yes there's alot of mental preparation needed and commitment and willpower to follow the rules and not be influenced by others around you...
  10. You'll find everyone has their own preference
  11. Most of those people are like 400lbs over weight if not more
  12. It's a good feeling I'm now at 23 BMI
  13. I gave up alcohol along with soda and sugar pre-op I see alcohol as just one of the many things you have to change
  14. The bypass does alot more than the sleeve ever could... Being that bypass has your 2nd attempt it will not be the same as a virgin surgery.. RNY BYPASS was the best decision I ever made and I know it has changed my metabolism I can no longer gain weight and I've lost 152lbs in 8 months and some days I don't even get hungry.. but you need to still have self control and be mentally prepared.. It's not a magic trick
  15. Medicare covered everything prior and the $4000 covered everything surgery related and 7 days in private hospital private room; multiple tests in Hospital; television, food. no motel just petrol and had to buy my own vitamins and medication after I left hospital all surgeon consultation now covered as well it was an all inclusive package for the $4000- No actual psych clearance needed just a referral and a good discussion with the surgeon and of course all my labs and medical history sent to him it was a very simple process here in Australia... Oh I've had to buy my own protein shakes I know some hospitals give out protein... $4000 is a small price to pay for a new life ? & a fast track program! It's 8.5 months since I started my own pre-op diet and I've lost a total of 152lbs and been maintaining now a few weeks at 170lbs...
  16. Even with insurance in Australia I still had to pay 4000 out of pocket but it was an easy process took 3 months from first consultation to surgery day... 6.5 months post op below goal weight loving life ?
  17. I hope I am able to give people some hope and some inspiration ?
  18. I'm 6 months post op I was very strict on myself for most of the 6 months literally low or next to no carbs. No sugar. High protein. Logged my food everyday. For most of the 6 months I was lucky to eat 600cal a day only recently have I started maintenance and eating more regular food and now reaching maybe 1000cal a day.. I started at 322 pre-op. 257 operation day. Lost total 152lbs in 8 months since pre-op phase and 88lbs since surgery 6 months ago... It seems every dietitian has their own understanding of diet I just personally stayed away from carbs for the most part and it seemed to work for me... Now sitting around 170 most days and in maintenance pretty much...
  19. All kinds of documentaries plus catching up on Vikings
  20. Sure I'm a male and only 35 and 6ft0 but I started at 322 and I always had issues that I would put on weight without even trying like my metabolism was so screwed from so many years of bad choices I knew I needed something drastic to change my life so I decided on the bypass and it has been amazing.. recovery was a breeze.. I'm 8 months out and I still have restriction and I rarely have cravings.. I've been very lucky because my metabolism has changed like I don't even think about food much at all and my body now seems to not gain weight I've lost 150lbs in 8 months and I look and feel amazing.. I'm serious I hardly get cravings for bad food, I still enjoy a shake every now and then some days I don't even feel like eating.. but over Easter I had some chocolate and some fries and it didn't make any difference to my weight at all of course I felt bad well guilty but it was one day out of 8 months I decided to treat myself.. but yes it seems like I cannot gain weight now I'm 170lbs which is lower than I ever thought possible being a tall man all my life being the big guy now ppl call me skinny and tell me to stop losing weight and I tell them the bypass is amazing it has made life so much easier, sure you have to be committed to a new way of life and strict diet until maintenance.. 8 months I started my journey but 6 months ago I had the bypass and I am below my goal weight and below my surgeons GOALS... I'm not trying to force my opinion on you but I can tell you I've lost weight before but NEVER this much and this quickly and I've never got to 170 before so I believe the bypass has completely changed the way my body processes food... After 8 months of strict dieting I have had a few treats here and there but my weight still stays the same!!!! If you have any questions I'm here..
  21. 8 months out and still feel restriction some days I have to remind myself to take small bites still...
  22. Yea seems like need some counselling to address your relationship with food
  23. You may be losing weight but it seems like you haven't learnt or made any changes in your relationship with food and you're need to eat unhealthy... Health is more than just a number on a scale I believe it's what you put into your body.. I'm glad I don't have hardly any cravings and I've learnt to love my new way of life and I'm eating 90% fresh and healthy foods... Sure I'll have a treat once a week maybe but that's it.. And because of that I've lost over 150lbs in 8 months and I'm fitter and healthier than I've ever been.. and I feel good that I am able to make good choices when I go out to eat and that I'm no longer filling my face with processed junk high fat high carbs food.. so yes I love my new body but I also make sure to be as healthy as I can in my choices because my future success relies on the fact that I've completely changed who I was to who I am today and I've learnt so much more about my health and fresh healthy food that goes into my body...
