Eating While On 2 week Liquid Diet
New&Improved replied to Tonya L's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep been advised by DR best option is like 3-4 shakes a day highest protein possible -
Look closely... Too much saturated fat.. Too much sodium.. And sugars.. And 190kcal for maybe 10g protein?
-
I'd be looking into home made..plenty of recipes online that way you know exactly what you're eating!!

What shakes are good?
New&Improved replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's a few options of protein but I've gone for WPI 1KG highest concentration of protein per serving and will be best for those first few weeks post op have a look yourself -
I don't even bother with milk I'm fine with 25-27g protein per drink and use water always have. Calories are still important also.
-
^^ that seems like an awful lot of calories involved pretty sure optifast is like 200 kcal per serve. I've been told 3-4 shakes a day (max 600kcal a day) preop with 25-30g protein per shake!
-
Heard a Lot of good reviews about this company here in Australia
-
The most important thing is high quality protein powder with at least 80% protein. Either concentrate or isolate or casein or a combination of them is fine just be wary of added sugars and some bad additives. Most decent protein powders will come with added amino acids and such and will mix easily with a shaker cup. The WPI I buy is 90% so 30g serve is 27g protein. The WPC is 80% or 25g per 30g serve It has a whole list of amino acids like Luecine There are some brands that are absolute junk so be careful

Great well done 70lbs in 3 months

I used water all the time. Most my powders come between 110-150cal per scoop and 22-27 grams protein depending on WHICH brand I buy

The dreaded full liquid diet
New&Improved replied to AnnieD78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tis why I've stocked up on protein powders because I know I'll be living off liquids a while preop and post op so may as well get used to it before you actually have surgery then wake up and can't swallow anything but liquids anyway for a while -
Yeah think of it like a zipper in between your stomach and your pouch keeping it separated VSG slices your stomach and throws it in the bin...
-
Yeah you will get people who change their attitude. Maybe even find new friends because they continue to live unhealthy and can't stand your new approach to life and you may offer your thoughts on their diet lol People do not like to be told or shown how unhealthy they really are and despite saying they are happy for you may end up resenting you...
-
Yes you need to be very strict and follow drs orders from day 1 of surgery any cheating post op can have an impact
-
3 days pre-op...getting jittery
