  1. Congrats starting yours. I love Georgia. That was where my Daddy was from. I've always wanted to live there. I stay getting rashes, but I thought it was just me.
Sorry for the late response..I had foot surgery. But I had an allergic reaction and broke out...thankfully I'm healed, just waiting for my skin to clear.[emoji255]

  2. does your plan have solids in 4th week? I am only 4 days post op and i am on liquids for 2 weeks, then starting week 3 i move to puree for 2 weeks then soft for 2 weeks. Maybe you are advancing too fast and your stomach cannot tolerate solid foods yet.
It has solid foods..but I'm still during puree.

  3. Tell him Thank you for showing his 'True Self' yet again. He has toldvyou before exactly wjat he thinks about you snd your weight...what are You waiting to hear from him??? There's nothing that you can do or try to do to make him acknowledge this decision of surgery. Focus on your surgery and then as you heal...make time to push him out of your life along with the carbs you don't need. He's not supporting you, so why keep him around?? He sounds like people who want to see you fail and that is no longer an option. Focus on yourself, stay Prayed up and stop worrying about him.

I agree with Sweet. I'm only 25 days post op and EVERYTME I eat it feels like something is in my throat a and yea although it doesn't hurt...its so uncomfortable and with me it last for hours on end. I usually just try to go to sleep and pray its gone when I wake up. My doctors told me to just try to do liquids like broth n sugar free Jello for now. I even had my throat xrayed to be certain nothing was lodged in there (it wasn't) I wonder will this ever go away. It makes me so miserable and uncomfortable

    Thanks

  5. I will say I had this 2 month period of being dizzy to the point of falling sometimes, but it wasn't as soon post-op as you are. I agree with the hydration comment, however I'll throw in my experience: my surgeon ran labwork, all came back normal, and he said, "well sometimes this just happens" and that's all the explanation I got! So maybe if you have a follow up soon involving blood work that can help provide some reassurance if things all come back normal.
Thanks, I have my 2week post-op next week. I feel because I'm not taking in enough Water maybe the issue.

  6. How's your Water intake? I know I get dizzy if I stand too quickly, even 7 months out. But ensuring you've got proper hydration is the first step in making sure you are doing ok. That and Protein intake this early out from surgery.

Don't feel alone, you are far from it!
It's a tough change, but it's well worth it, just keep reminding yourself as to why you wanted the surgery!
Water intake is still a bit low. I've graduated from sipping to at least 2 gulps here and there. But then it feels like it's stuck in my chest all day...

  7. Tomorrow is my final pre-op appointment. Surgery is on Nov 5th. So many thoughts going through my head. Yes, I want to be healthy. Yes, I want to be thin. But I enjoy my husbands cooking. Or going out to dinner. I love beer with my friends. What will my social life be in the future? No tequila shots on New Years. Celebrate with sugar free popsicles?? I got this but have to get myself ready for a changing lifestyle [emoji13] [emoji30] [emoji15]

I thought about these things over and over. I enjoy a drink and shots here and there especially while Football is playing...but I can wait 6months or more to introduce those things back to my life. But just knowing that I'm doing this surgery in order to Live a Healthier Life; made these little thoughts go away. I call them little because the bigger scope is getting healthy and not worrying about food....especially because this is what got me here in the first place. You will be fine, I am literally 1week post op and excited about introducing shakes back to my life and etc. So believe me once surgery is over, you won't feel those cravings right away. Thank God and ask him for strength within everything![emoji18]

  8. Anyone from the South or living in the South? How has your journey been so far and where are you at in your journey?
I am from Nashville, Tennessee and lived there most of my life. I live in Ashland City now and I"ve been here almost 4 years. I had my sleeve done in Nashville at Centennial on April 3rd of this year. So far, I have lost 45 pounds at my last appointment at the end of September. From my home scale, I have lost a total of 54 pounds.
Good morning, I'm from Georgia and I had my sleeve done October 17th. So far I'm doing good, trying to get rid of a rash and starting to actually sip more Water than before.
    Congratulations on your surgery[emoji255]

  9. Hi everyone! Here's a new twist on an old subject matter - a bad breakup. I was happy, healthy, losing weight and working out. I had lost a solid 67 lbs since my June 14 surgery, had a great boyfriend and was really doing well.
Then, on December 26, my BF and I broke up. It was sudden and I was absolutely blindsided. I moved out of his apartment and moved in with my bestie and her husband in CT, away from my job (which I lost), my neighborhood, everything that I know.
The old Diane would be drowning her sorrows in Ben and Jerry's, crying and eating. The new Diane? She can't do that. She can't even eat ice cream because post surgery, she is lactose intolerant. She can't eat chips and dip, or go to McDonalds and get fries and a shake, she can't eat a lot of sweets, she can't drown her sorrows in food, she can't eat her emotions. And, she can't drink alcohol, because she's a freaking lightweight again, like a 14 year old girl at her first kegger.
    Damn it.
But here's the good thing - the new Diane went to the gym and decided to get serious about working out. She is pushing herself harder than ever. She goes for an hour a day and REALLY works out, climbs the Stair Mill, takes a class, does 200 squats in the evening, does a lot of cardio. Why? Because she's in pain and needs to channel that pain somehow and also because SHE CANNOT EAT HER FEELINGS.
Why am I telling you this? Because I want you all to know how your relationship with food will change once you have this surgery. You learn to channel your emotions differently, you learn that food is not always the answer, you learn that alcohol won't solve your problems. Food and drink change post surgery. You have to learn to deal with your emotions instead of running to your comfort food or drink. And it sucks. It sucks big time.
Instead of gaining the post breakup 10 lbs that I normally do, I've lost 10 pounds. Maybe too much for me to lose in a couple of weeks. I had no appetite and I struggled to eat. But better to lose than to gain, to overeat, to push my stomach to full over and over again. I couldn't do it.
So I'm now 20 lbs to goal instead of 30, and I've lost 218 lbs too (that's how much my BF weighed). He was a good guy and I will miss him, but things happen for a reason. And this was a good lesson for me to learn.. how to deal with strong emotions without the comfort of food.
I think we all know that food isn't always our friend. We need it, but we don't need to be dependent upon it to get through some tough times. I am still crushed and hurt, and I miss him, but I really don't miss the food hangover that goes along with a bad breakup. Silver linings....

I truly appreciate your Raw testimony. I am within my 1st week of Post Op, and I needed this.[emoji18]

  10. I called the surgeon on call yesterday (due to the holiday). It was not my surgeon. He mad it sound like it was no big deal just take some Benadryl. It maybe an allergic reaction to Pepcid. Call tomorrow if it still worries me and get in with my surgeon. I now have large itchy bumps at the top the steristrips on two of the incisions. I am headed to PCP, now. Thanks for your help
Thanks for sharing...I recently had surgery and I'm dealing with the same issue. A different doctor told me the same..take Benadryl. I'll see how I look tomorrow.

  11. I’ve been a lurker on this forum for a while, but have not posted yet - trying to get up my courage[][]
I’m 1 week post op from RNY today, and for the post part doing very well. No more pain really, just struggling to get in all my fluids and Vitamins.
However, I have developed a pretty nasty rash under my chest - on the bottom of the girls and below - it’s red bumpy and very very itchy. The rash is over 1 incision, but a very small one. At first I thought it was maybe a heat rash - I didn’t wear a bra in the hospital, which was actually very warm, and woke up sweating a few times each night. But I’ve been home for 5 days now, and the rash doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I have no known allergies.
Has anyone had a similar rash? Does anyone know if it’s okay to use some sort of topical cream?
    Thanks everyone []

Omg...I have been dealing with this since my surgery 5 days ago.

  12. I just found out that my insurance approved surgery!! I won't be able to have surgery until October because of my work schedule. Anyway, I really wasn't getting my hopes up in case insurance didn't approve it, but now it's real omg. I'm nervous and excited and would love someone to be buddies with through this. Any takers?
I'm 37. I have 4 kids (14, 11, 4 and 2) and I'm a teacher. I am starting with a BMI of 40 exactly with no comorbidities. Anyone out there with similar stats? Even different stats but you are having surgery in October? My date is 10/4.

  13. I had awful gas pains in my neck & back from all of the air that goes into your body during the surgery. A Heating pad saved me with these pains, so did salonpas pads. I was surprised that with all of the reading & research I did months prior to surgery, I read nothing of people these pains, however after surgery I learned that these pains are very common after laparoscopic surgery. It lasted about a week for me but was more painful for me than my incisions (2 hernia repairs & gastric sleeve). Heating pad & salonpas saved me my first week.
Hi...I had my Sleeve done on October 17th and just recently I've endured gas pains that are quite annoying. What exactly does heating pads do and where do you put them?
