Don’t bring an underwire bra to wear home! I wish someone had told me that - lol! Pain killers can make you constipated so don’t use them unless you REALLY need them. A friend told me that one because she took them and got impacted. Let’s just say that was something I did NOT want to experience! And walk ASAP after surgery. It is the best thing for the gas pain!! Good luck!!!

Maybe it is an oversight and not fat shaming? Many people seem to have trouble using the app when putting in the starting figures or updating.
As someone that started with a BMI over 55 which is leaning more towards super morbidly obese I have found lots of support here.
Certainly we are in the minority but no individual person here has made me feel unwelcome due to my starting weight and that’s what I base the value of the support on here.
Congratulations on all you have accomplished. It would be nice for you to stick around and support others going through what you went through!

    I was sleeved April 16, 2018.
I was a member of Bariatastic until Facebook lost my trust in their security and privacy.
Today I decided to try BariatricPal app on my iPhone. I was shocked to be fat shamed by a support app.
    High Weight: 600 lbs
    Surgery Weight: 390
    Current Weight: 238
    Goal Weight: 225
    —————————-
I’ve been excited all day. I haven’t seen these numbers since I was 15 yrs old. That was 30 years ago.
This is news you want to share with anyone who will listen.
This is where the Fat Shaming in app started.
The app has you create an account. Then starts asking your weights. They asked for starting weight, and since I assumed they didn’t mean 8 pounds 6 ounces, I put in 600 pounds. Here comes the twist.
This bariatric app, doesn’t accept 600 pound users. Discrimination. If they don’t believe bariatric patients should weigh 600 pounds at any point. Disenfranchisement. I have to lie about my weight to use the app. Fat Shaming.
I hope the BariatricPal gets it together and accepts that Bariatric Patients lean toward obese and you should discriminate when someone needs social support.
Well this was my rant. It’s not about my diet or progress. I am 40 pounds below my team’s projected weight loss before my first year out and I was sure it was take a year and a half to two years. It sucks to go through this without peers.

I have been wanting WLS for years but my husband always would say “just stop eating so much and you’ll lose weight!” DUH!! And like a fool, I put it off for years. This time I had all my pre-op testing and had a surgery date before I told him! He again tried to persuade me to NOT have the surgery - but I did it on 10/10/18 and I feel great! He eventually got on board (he didn’t have a choice) and he has been supportive now!

Hi everyone! Just to let you all know that I am doing great. Down 35 lbs since my surgery on 10/26 and counting. Was frustrated and I had some regrets about my surgery just because Of the stalls I was having that’s all! And guess what people I did eat ONE slice of pizza and had no stomach issues!! All of you judge mental people are just so ridiculous. I am happy and proud of my weight loss journey and that all that matters.

I'm managing to keep Water down today so hopefully it's going away... defo a lesson learnt

You're not asking a stupid question. And it's not TMI. Goddamnit, people depress me sometimes.
First: when did you have surgery? Have you done coke before, and is this typical? Had you had alcohol since your surgery?
Just based on the timing, I'd guess that you've got a stomach bug and that this isn't related to the drug use. Anyone vomiting for three days would feel ache in their stomach. Did you have a flu shot this year? Are you drinking a ton of Gatorade or Pedialyte to make up for the dehydration? If not, your symptoms are just going to feel worse.
Even if this reaction has nothing to do with the coke or booze, you know that introducing a rogue element into a healing system isn't a good idea, obviously, and you'll be more careful in future. Good.
Few things make me bristle with rage. Idiotic responses like this would be one of them. Her question was related to WLS, since she's concerned there's been an interaction between the drugs and the surgery. She's asking for help because she's worried. I am incredibly angry that your response was the first here, as it is worthless.

I think it depends on the person. I - for one - know that I can NEVER have Doritos again! I have zero control over myself around Doritos. I CAN have a piece of pizza eventually (though I love the Cali’flour crusts so I’ll stick with those). I’m not addicted to pizza. Every person is different. And having something occasionally is probably ok as part of a healthy diet. It depends whether you can keep it “occasional” - which I would not be able to to with Doritos!

CyndieRI reacted to KT1981 in Ugh... gastroenteritis
I'm just over 10 weeks post-op and have gastroenteritis. Luckily the stomach cramps haven't been too bad, but they still hurt my poor, tiny tummy.
I'm doing my best to keep drinking fluids, but even Water makes my stomach cramp. I was able to get a banana and 1 T of Peanut Butter down over about 2.5 hours. I think that's all I'll get in today for food, so I'm going to focus on water and even some Protein water.
I've lost a couple pounds since this morning which is pure fluids from the diarrhea. I don't want to end up on an IV for Fluid loss! Hoping this lets up tomorrow. In the past it's generally lasted about 24 hours, with another day or two of a sensitive tummy. As long as I keep my fluids up, I'm not going to worry about missing my protein goals/vitamins for a couple days.

This is uncalled for. I am sorry, but I am tired of people on the site being judgemental. Let's be honest, if you think you will go the rest of your life without eating a piece of pizza, or something that is unhealthy, you are not being realistic. The point of this surgery is to not punish you. You can eat healthy most of the time, exercise, and enjoy a piece of pizza once in a blue moon. We all have our favorite foods and if we can handle these foods in moderation, as part of a generally healthy diet, than that is ok. I would love to meet someone a year out that has not had anything unhealthy, or one of their favorite foods. At 9 months out, I am almost at goal, maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly. And you know what? I have had a ice of pizza! I've had a few pieces of chocolate even! And...my doctor is ok with that because he knows what is realistic and what is not.

Yeah, the bleeding part should probably be mentioned to the doc.
As you may have seen on another post about my personal poops.... I went to the ER after 10 days and I was friggin' POOPLESS. I didn't poop until Day 15 and it was a micro poop and then on Day 17 I had the real poops. It was another EIGHT DAYS until I pooped again (today). No Constipation though. I did take Miralax, glycerin suppositories, and Colace because I thought there HAD to be something up there and it will definitely get things RUMBLING. Even if, in my case, nothing appeared. #ghostbowels
Anyways, at least take Colace and Miralax. You don't want to go to the ER and have a doctor stick his finger up your butt like I did. Or maybe you do... I don't judge.

So I'm almost done with the Purge. Got rid of almost everything in the pantry, fridge and freezer (donated to the local bread pantry and friends) except that which I will continue to be on for the remainder of my pre-surg liquid diet and what I will be on post-op.
I left microwave popcorn - although my gut told me not to...LOL. But my husband asked pretty please. I just requested that he NOT make it while I am at home and not pre-surgery. I don't think I can take the smell. It's too tempting!! 🤣
I also left what my husband will be eating. Basic staples, etc.
Did all of this while I ate my sugar free popsicle - which btw was pretty tasty.

I am at 2 months and my nutritionist said around 500 calories is about where I should be. Long-term goal is around 1000 (some others are a bit higher). Do you portion everything out and eat only that? That would help keep calories lower. I eat out of 2oz baby food cups and measuring spoons so I never go over. Does your plan say how many ounces you should be eating per meal? That's what you should go by, not calories. Around now I am allowed to move to 5oz-6oz per meal max, but I can't fit that much in. I know some people who can eat basically the same amount, but just because it fits without hurting, doesn't mean you should do it. Def stick to portion sizes and not calorie counts.

Even before I considered WLS, thin "friends" that can literally eat garbage 24/7 would always tell me "calories in, calories out" and "you just need to exercise more", etc etc, as if I didn't KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ALREADY ABOUT NUTRITION. Thanks, Ms. Perfect, for the advice. Kill me now. lol.

Something similar happened to me on Christmas. My mom actually had vsg on thanksgiving and I had mine on the 20th of this month. She got it because she has degenerative bone disease in her hips down to her toes so there's a lot of work outs she actually can't physically do so that holds her back.I got mine because I have worked with a trainer did the diets and could only ever loose 50lbs and would get stuck no matter what I did. I was at my dad's on Christmas and he said something and I laughed really hard and obviously it hurts since I was only 5 days post op and I held my stomach and said ow and my brother was like "You chose to have the surgery you have no right to complain you could have just gone back to your personal trainer." Oh yeah cause that worked so well the 3 years I trained with him. People are just ignorant.
