Wickedwinner got a reaction from traeleo in Loose Skin, Saggy Breasts and Hair loss...OH MY!?
I’m 52 years old and was totally freaked with the idea of losing hair. My dr said if I got 100 g of Protein daily I wouldn’t lose my hair. I did on most days and he was right. Didn’t lose any hair! Unfortunately I already had saggy boobs and that has not improved. The rest of my body is ok though. Not too saggy. I started yoga, light weight work and lots of walking. I’ve been pleased with the progress thus far.
Just wish I’d done it years ago!

Wickedwinner got a reaction from Emilia DD in Top Recommendation from VGS people 6mos out or more
My dr promised that if I got 100 grams of Protein a day I would not lose my hair. From day 2 after surgery I strived for that. I wasn’t able to do it every day early on (first week) but at least got 80 a day. After that, I reach 100 everyday. I’m almost 6 months out and have not lost any hair! After my 3 month follow up appt, dr said I could go to 80 G protein daily. I’ve been so thankful to not lose my hair. It’s pretty fine to begin with.

I didn't lose any hair. Most people do, but for the vast majority, they're the only ones who notice it.
as for saggy skin, yep - very common. Although if you ask most vets, they'll say that they'd take their saggy skin ANY DAY over being morbidly obese. In retrospect, I'm not sure why I wasted one brain cell worrying about it. i am SO much happier now that i'm normal weight!!! Plus, for most people, it's pretty easy to hide - you'll likely be the only one who knows it's there (other than your partner and doctor!)

Wickedwinner got a reaction from GreenTealael in Eating Salad
I can eat salad with no problem. I tried it for the first time at about 6 weeks. I don’t eat it often though. It’s too filling and I can’t get my Protein in.

Wickedwinner got a reaction from cuteliz7447 in Vegas Vacation After VSG Food and Alcohol Thoughts
I just went this month when I was 5 months post op. It is very easy to get lots of Protein and Water in. There is a CVS or Walgreens on every corner and tons of health food options. I also took powdered protein and mixed it with steamed milk from Starbucks for my morning “coffee.” I drank some wine but probably not more than 2-3 per day. I actually lost 4 lbs as we averaged 9 miles a day walking!

Wickedwinner got a reaction from Sosewsue61 in BMI OF 31 AND 35 LB TO LOSE. IS IT WORTH IT?
Try intermittent fasting. Lots of people I know lost weight doing it.

Wickedwinner got a reaction from vovo2013 in Cigna- Requirements and Timeline
I have Cigna and I was under the impression that the DS surgery is not covered by Cigna at this time (or wasn’t last year when I had the sleeve).

Wickedwinner got a reaction from michellehill in HELP I'm so stressed and I SMOKE
I took Chantix about 10 years ago. It made me nauseated as hell but I kept on taking it. Now, if I even think about cigs I remember that nauseated feeling and all cravings disappear!

Wickedwinner got a reaction from GreenTealael in Feeling Hopless...:(
Maybe you need to up your calories? My dr keeps telling me to get more calories but I just can’t seem to get over 900-1000. She wants me to get at least 1200-1300. I’m almost 6 months out and the weight loss is slowing but not yet stalled. I’ve been losing about 2 lbs a week for the last month or two. Better than nothing though!

Wickedwinner reacted to GradyCat in I'm in Onederland!
OMG! I'm so happy I could dance down the street naked! I FINALLY made it to Onederland today, 5 months post-op sleeve.
I've been stuck in a stall for five weeks, teasing me at 202 and so close but so stuck and I thought I was never going to lose another ounce for a minute or two.
But now I'm finally a LOSER! Yay! So excited! Now I feel like the scale will keep moving and it can go down to meet my goal.
So glad to be in the 100's again!

Wickedwinner got a reaction from Liz The New Me in Cocktails & Wine
My dr recommended 3 months but basically said I could do what I wanted after 6 weeks. I waited three months and half a glass of wine and couldn’t drink anymore. It felt really weird going down and I didn’t care for the sensation. I’m 6 months out now and. Can tolerate wine (2 glass limit). I’ve tried some vodka drinks but they are hard because all the mixers I like are either carbonated or have too much sugar. One dirty martini gets me fairly buzzed but I’ve noticed that it goes away fairly quickly. It’s pretty weird.
I have the sleeve, not bypass.

Wickedwinner got a reaction from mesja68 in What, you had NO surgery complications?
Three and a half months from my sleeve surgery. I’ve not had any issues other than minor Constipation. Never had a problem eating and drinking Water. Down 50 pounds so far. Have not lost any hair yet (knocking on wood). No regrets!

Wickedwinner got a reaction from ARMoma45 in (ms.sss) 6 Month Post-op Update
That’s awesome. I’m four months out and have only lost 60 so I don’t think I’ll lose as much as you at 6 months. Congrats! When did your hair start coming out? I haven’t had that. My dr promised me that if I got 100 grams of Protein a day I wouldn’t lose it and I was pretty faithful to that. After my 3 month appt they said I could back it down to 80. I also don’t exercise as much as you. That is something I definitely need to step up. Thanks for the inspiration!
