Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Lynnt. Been there, still there some days...... This is what I've learned so far. The demons that got you in the situation of eating to replace what ever emotions you are trying to avoid feeling, are still there until you look at them and deal with them. This is not easy to do and it seems for me, that like an addict ( in this case food ), it is a daily struggle. Some days are easier than others. The other thing I've learned is that being kind to your self and not being too hard on yourself when you do eat off the program ,helps you get back on track sooner. Just my observation. I hav:lol:e lost 85 lbs. and am within 3-4 lbs. of my goal. Today I am up a pound. No worries , because I know I stayed on track. Hang in there, Lynn. After your fill you will feel less like eating more. Best wishes, Tessa1:thumbup::laugh:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Christy, Gas...... Sure know what that is like! I was banded in Jan. and still go through daily gas spells. After surgery you are gassy because of the gas they fill your stomach with to do the surgery. Then certain foods can cause gas. My gas seems to be brought on by dairy products. I never was lactose intolerent before the band. Stay with DRS. orders to be on the liquid diet for as long as they say to. It is your stomachs healing time. Don't expect to lose a lot of weight at this time. The weight will come off in due time if you use your new tool , the lap band. Best of luck! Tessa1
  4. Hey lizzy h, I agree the Mills support group is very good. Who did your lap band??? Dr. Wetter did mine. I think he is a wonderful Dr. Tessa1

Hi, Nanirose, I no I am a little late in responding to your question about lap band vs. Gastric bypass. No regrets getting banded! I lost 46 lbs. before L.B. surgery and 40 lbs. after. I was banded1/08. I am 2 lbs. to goal. Somedays I go up 2lbs. some days I go down........ Tessa1

    Getting Cold Feet

How did your surgery go? Remember the key to feeling better is to walk around and get fresh air. Then rest. Hope it went well... Tessa1

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks for the tip, Sugrbear! I was banded in Jan. of this year and have lost 40lbs. Before I was banded I lost 45 lbs. pre-surgery. I am 2 lbs. til goal. After all this success you would think I would learn to slow down when eating and chew my food really well. Well I got something caught because the piece was too big. Not something I would like to go through again....... Any one else have the same experience??? Luckily I didn't throw up, but it took me a day to feel better after the food went through the band.

    Was this too much?

I had my 3rd fill yesterday and am feeling really wiped out. My stomach actually hurts and although I do feel more restriction I just don't feel that great. Has this happened to anyone else after a fill? I did not feel anything like this with the other 2 fills.
  12. :biggrin2:Thank you all for the warm welcome!
  13. My name is tessa1 and I was banded 1/08. I've lost 83 lbs. since 10/07 and am about 5 lbs. to goal. It has been a very rewarding journey and sometimes very difficult. I just try every day and keep very active. My Dr. was Dr. Wetter from San Mateo, CA area.:cool2:

    Let's be honest about exercise

Find something that you like to do. I discovered that by doing the elliptical machine for 30 min. gave me better results than 40 min. on the treadmill. Don't be discouraged!

    Let's be honest about exercise

I strive for everyother day doing 30 min. of aerobics and 30 min. of weights. Then I walk as much as possible on the off days. Get a pediometer to wear. It calculates your steps, miles and how many calories you burn in the course of your daily activities.
