    Health after sleeve??

Its interesting convo. I have read that some of auto immune issues like arthritis, thyroid, etc. have decreased after WLS. I'm sure part is that some of the foods can trigger our inflammation response . I don't know if we would be more susceptible to getting infections viral like the common cold or bacterial after surgery. We are always in contact with organisms but doesn't mean we would get infected. But its interesting like when the body is weak and traumatized immediately after surgery, Im sure it can trigger coldsore or even canker sores but i can't imagine we would get more colds than normal but again I'm no doctor and I haven't had my surgery yet to compare

    Pre-Op Journey

I get it, its hard, all we could do is try our best. I don't think you should worry to much about insurance I hope your team will know how to get your approval. I ,too, get nervous what if I lose too much but honestly I feel the rate I'm going I feel I will only get worst and sicker. I look at it as better trade off. But only think you really have to be religious about are taking your vitamins on top of food routine. Don't worry soon you'll be back on your horses healthier

    Pre-Op Journey

Hi everyone isn't crazy how its the hardest decision to make. Which surgery would be the best for us. I struggled with that decision up to a few months ago. Orginially I was set to do the sleeve, thinking it would be less invasive, sounds like a simpler operation, easier for surgeon to perform but for me I had done soooo much research and after having my endoscopy, I'm convinced the bypass would ultimately be my better choice. I had some low grade inflammation in my stomach which I feel could eventually cause bad acid reflux disease. I had BAD acid reflux before don't want to live with it. Again there is so many people who have done the sleeve and not experience any issues with reflux and have had a lot of success and maintain healthier weight. Its my opinion I've read some really bad horror stories about lap band and lots of revisions which are harder to achieve weight loss and complications after 2nd surgery. I'm just saying really research before considering lap band. As for insurance and out of pocket expense, some hospitals have programs that will adjust depending on your income. Hopefully you'll have some kinda help. so my surgery is 11/15 bypass yep its happening crazy time flys

    I Hate Food Sometimes!

I think I'm just nervous whats about to happen after surgery. I know everyones different and will have different reactions. I think I'm nervous about slipping up and I'm sure I will and hope not to do it again, its all a learning curve.

    6 Month Update

Yes thank you for that. I just got word that my insurance approved my 11/15 bypass and it feels more real. I'm kinda freaking out. I'm arranging work and home and the not knowing whats going to happen. Will I be strong enough not to slip up, eating properly. Energy level, working full time at work and home I have 2 toddlers. But regardless I know this will help me to become healthier. I have uncontrollable high blood pressure. I don't know anyone who's done WLS so I really depend on everyones post. The good and bad everything. I have gone to support meetings but its hard with work. Any in a nutshell your post is very encouraging. I'm going try to remind myself its worth it at the end
  18. I'm sorry your going through this but I do believe its their ignorance and maybe a stigma about surgery. Maybe not telling them until after surgery, you need support not criticism Its hard enough making this decision you definitely don't need anyone double guessing your decision. Hope when you do have your conversation they'll become more supportive keeping my fingers crossed

    November Bypass?

Definitely feel like that most days. For me theres times I feel I still look like I'm pregnant. I've had people give up there seat on the bus/subway thinking I was. Its not a great feeling. I also feel like we all are on a forever diet. Thats why my bypass is scheduled for 11/15 hopefully insurance approves. Though its crazy one week before thanksgiving the biggest eating holiday.

    Marginal/anastomotic ulcer anyone?

good luck tomorrow hope you start feeling better soon. I just booked my bypass 11/15 its all a bit scary.
  23. Hello everyone, First I want to let everyone know that Im super thankful for each of your post. So much of you guys pretty much have helped me prepare for whats coming up soon whether its sleeve or bypass. In a nutshell Im 40yrs old with BMI 36/37 with high blood pressure and cholesterol issues. My dad passed away at 43 from massive heart attack and been overweight all my life but recently had twins which through my body off even more. I've done so much research about both surgeries and feel bypass even though more complicated, I feel its long term effects is what I need, even though I know people who has had sleeve with diet also achieve long term effects. I also had battled heartburn and I'd rather take multiple vitamins the rest of my life and go through dumping syndrome than having GERD. I originally discussed having sleeve on my initial visit but now having second thoughts. My last appointment is this week with my surgeon before booking surgery assuming insurance approves I'm at the end of this pre-op visits. I just like to know that I'm not crazy for wanting a bypass.
  24. Hi sending you lots of positive energy remember you'll come out of this a new person for the good.
