  1. Congratulations and You got this!
  2. the pain is gas as you are sipping. I went through the same thing every time i took a sip. It seems the gas was trying to pass the liquid on the way down as the burp was coming up. I am now two weeks post op and that seems to have gone away. I dont exactly remember which day but i no longer feel that constant pain in the chest as i am drinking liquids.
  3. Nice Matt! I agree 100%. Having said that. Find alternatives to the sweets you are eating. We all get that sweet tooth at one time or another but there are plenty of options out there to assist. One of my favorite i learned a long time ago while on a diet plan was the apple pie filling.. Cut up and apple, add a little bit of splenda, cinnamon, and i think a dash of cornstarch.. with a tablespoon of water. I will have to find the exact recipe. But you microwave it. It taste just like apple pie, warm. if you are in the period of your journey where you can add enlightened or halo top.. then add just a little. Warning it melts very fast LOL.. but it sure hit the spot when i needed something sweet.
  4. Welcome and Good Luck! Congratulations on the quitting smoking. I quit too on Sept 25th mainly because i decided to do the surgery and my surgeon required 30 day smoke free before surgery. I am now two weeks post op and do not regret a thing. I have no plans on going back to smoking either.
  5. I am two weeks post op today. I havent hit a stall yet, but i am sure it is coming as i start puree foods today. I missed walking the last two days due to busy schedules and not getting home till 10 pm last night and 9pm the night before. I am going to try and make up for it today and tomorrow by doing 2 miles instead of 1.. and then maybe just do two miles a day going forward. I just want to make sure i am eating enough for that amount of walking. Up until now i was only taking in 350 calories a day, and burning off 200 just in the walk never mind the rest of the day.. Here is to the next phase.
  6. Great article..love love this article. Thank you SW 306.6 CW 273.0 GW 135
  7. Congratulations and good Luck! I was lucky and had no issues immediately following surgery. Today I am 13 days post op and down 11.3 since surgery and 30.6 since i started my pre op diet. This is the best decision i have ever made. Today i transition to Puree. and i had a little bit of chili ( only because i couldnt blend it at work, i was unprepared). I will blend it later and attempt to finish it for dinner along with a protein shake. Heres to a speedy recovery!
  8. I am new to this myself, I find however carrying stuff with me at all times helps. I just moved to puree today. What about one of the hand blenders you can use while on the road. Meal prep when you stop at hotels, then use the blender to blend it. Though I am not sure if you have a microwave on your bus. If not, it will be a little difficult. But if not, you can blend while at the hotel and freeze while on the bus and then microwave. Since you will be eating 3 meals a day, you can have the evening one right before you go on stage or whatnot to accomodate your timing. Not sure if any of this info helped, especially coming from a newbie, but i am pretty much a planner and am always looking for ways to accomplish tasks. Also for exercise... You can see if they have a small stationary piece of equipment that you can work with on the bus if there is enough room or get videos that you can use to walk in place and get your exercise in that way since you will be traveling. Good Luck!
  9. I am just starting puree, so i will be sticking to my puree menu of some sort. I will be however cooking as my son is a vegetarian, daughter is high protein low carb and son in law only one to eat whatever LOL.. So i will cook, they are all in their mid 20s and i do not want any of them to be without. We always get together for the hanging out and maybe a venture out to see the crazy black friday stuff, or just stay in and watch movies. It will be a later than normal dinner because daughter has to work in the morning. ( She works for Disney- and gets out at 4) so dinner will be at 6
  10. my surgeon will fix the upper Gi issue during the course of the VSG.. He had told me that from the beginning, that if he saw anything that would cause reflux or anything he would fix it.. Maybe i am misunderstanding the issue and one has nothing to do with the other.. but i would check into them fixing it while in there doing the surgery.
  11. I used to be just like that. I had moved away from my children who are grown and i too wrote off family a long time ago after my parents passed. Do the best you can with your son.. Make memories! Go someplace and create traditions. Thats what i did with my children a long time ago before i had moved out of state. It took 3 years of holidays without them for me to move back and we have more fun over the holidays and none of it is about the food.
  12. I hope all goes well! I am looking forward to flying in the spring.
  13. I just ordered Wendy's Chili- I know i shouldnt be eating out already, but i checked the nutrition on it. I will still have my shake because i do not see myself eating nearly any of it, and i dont have a blender at work so will have to blend when i get home tonight to try the rest. I am excited and scared at the same time.
  14. it gets better! Walk walk walk!!! Even if its just a few houses over and back. It will help relieve the gas pain. It does get easier as each day goes by.
  15. I plan on sticking to decaf. But i drink coffee for the taste not the caffeine.
  16. I saw the doctor today. Number one goal is to maintain hydration. I move into Puree foods tomorrow then to soft and then regular. He did say i did not need to follow his guide of 2 weeks to the T.. Said to test it.. if at any point i am not getting my 64 ounces of water in.. to back up and not progress further until its accomplished. He did say.. He doesnt want me to have more than 40g of carbs per day. ( the nutritionist recommended 60g) He said i didnt need that many, and 40 was enough and i needed to make sure i ate those last and only if still hungry. I am both excited and nervous to start puree tomorrow because i have not had food in my system since Oct 25th. Will see how tomorrow goes.. Slow and Steady wins the race!
  17. I went to my 2 week post op today.. a few days early .. I am actually 12 days post op and i am down just about 30 pounds in total and 10 since surgery. My stitches were removed and i was cleared for Puree.. and i may be able to take my ballroom dancing classes in 2 more weeks. He said it depends on if i can hold down the puree or not.. Here is to new challenges Happy Thanksgiving All!
  18. Tomorrow I am off to the Dr. to get my stitches out! I get them out 2 days early due to my 2 week post op falling on Thanksgiving. I am excited for this appointment and have lots of good questions lined up for him. As of this morning i am down a total of 27.6 pounds and 7.6 since surgery. I am OK with this for two reasons.. Today i had to take Swift Kriss for constipation LOL.. So i hope it kicks in before morning. Also, I gained 13.6 during surgery. I am not sure if there is anymore surgery swelling to drop or not. Either way for a few days, once i hit break even ( Thursday-1 week post op) then it dropped almost 2.5 pounds for 2 days in a row and then 1.8 and 1.2.. I am sure it will balance out somewhere and shouldn't be more than a pound a day i would think. Will see all what he says tomorrow.
  19. I would also look at what % of those calories are Carbs, Proteins, and Fat intake. Those figures are equally important.
  20. maybe create a new email.. just to add to the old profile? That should free up your current email.. That is what i did for my cell phone.
  21. Did they say why they cancelled it? I would do a walk in appt if you feel he cancelled it on purpose. They have to see you they cannot refuse medical treatment.
  22. I agree with other posters. If you keep dropping you need to contact your team and they may have you eat a bit differently to gain a little back. I have always thought the happy medium was to find the balance to where you werent losing nor gaining to maintain. I am not sure though as i have never been there, but your dr would know best. Keep us posted!
