  1. The plan, I have anyways, is low fat low carb forever. I had labs and I have tons of ketones in my urine. The diet is already putting you in ketosis.
  2. In my FB group, someone mentioned the need to occasionally shock your system, and people are recommending carbs or sweets. I have never been told this, and I stick to my plan 100%. Has anyone heard of the need to do this for any reason? To break a stall? It seems like cheating on this regimen is setting yourself for failure if you became overweight due to lack of control or moderation. I would never eat a brownie or cookie this early on - we are all 2-3 months out (or ever, unless it was bariatric friendly). Advice?
  3. On the 5th I had my gallbladder out and a hernia repaired. My surgeon said I can start lifting (light) and doing some core exercises this week or next. I am still sore on my right side where my incisions are so I am waiting another week to be safe. However, my coworker has had multiple hernia repairs and she said that that area will always be weak and at risk for herniating again. My surgeon didn't tell me this, but sometimes they don't think of some things. Is it safe to do weight lifting and core exercises when you've had hernias? I love circuit/strength training and especially core work (since it's my strongest area, lol) and I will be crushed if I can't do that stuff.
  4. Yes! The day of surgery I immediately felt 100% better! NO more nausea or vomiting or anything.
  5. This has been happening to me, too. And I have Mirena and NEVER had my period for like 5 years. But somehow it is breaking through. I will have my period one random day. Then nothing for 2 weeks. Then another random day. It is unpredictable and annoying. Doc said it will just happen until all the hormones settle down... whenever that is.
  6. The surgeon said I can start trying harder foods now but I prefer soft. I did have some steak the other day but two hours later the steak came up! It must have been stuck somewhere and just took a while for my body to realize it. I still pretty much eat only puree/very soft. I don't mind it. Sometimes I do all-broth days.
  7. It's good I went early, too, because the bariatric surgeon saw my intestines had separated at the new juncture. O_O
  8. They saw I had stones pre-op but said it wouldn't cause any problems because they were giving me Actigall. WRONGOOOO. The gallbladder removal for me was rough because it had embedded into my liver. I ended up going to the ER to have it out instead of waiting for surgery day because I couldn't stop vomiting every day. That was on the 5th and I still have some sore spots. Definitely more painful recovery than the bypass by far. BUT, it's over with so I'm all good. lol!
  9. I had my surgery 11/1 and developed an ulcer, had to have my gallbladder out, and developed a hernia and IT IS STILL WORTH IT. I can't imagine any complication that would not be worth dealing with in order to lose this weight. PS: I am all healed up now. They will test you in the OR for leaks; my surgeon tested my pouch 3 times. So extremely rare to have a leak, and it is fixable. There's pretty much nothing they can't fix. There was a few moments where I felt like it was "unfair" these things happened to me and I was exasperated at having to deal with it... but losing the weight conquers all.
  10. I'm going to post my (almost) 3 month success. I have conquered a brutally painful post-op ulcer. A gallbladder removal where it had to be peeled off my liver from having embedded itself into it. And a hernia repair where my intestinal junction had started to separate. All in the last 2.5 months. I am healed up completely now (still a week from exercise post-gallbladder) and ON TRACK LIKE A NORMAL PATIENT. Suck it, unjust medical complications! And I am officially my lowest adult weight since 2013. 63lbs down since September. 53lbs down since 11/1 surgery. And that's my mini-success.
  11. I've stalled for 2 weeks before. It's not considered an "issue" unless it continues more than 5-6 weeks, so says my dietitian. It just happens.
  12. Okay so ya'll know I suck at protein. My daily averages range from 10g to 50g, with an average of about 30g a day. My labs already came back and all protein-related labs (and all of them, actually) are totally normal. I am also gaining muscle mass. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Like, am I still okay on low af protein? My iron is also pretty high (like, high as in above normal high). So many questions. But I guess it's a good result. Followup on the 5th..
  13. I'm lucky I don't have any scarring. I guess there are a few small pock marks on my forehead, but I have bangs (I've had them all 30 years of my life, so they aren't going anywhere ever) and I will always have forehead acne from hair oils so... whatevaaa. lol
  14. True. Pretty much everyone I know eats very unhealthy (like I did). They may look good on the outside, but eventually the insides won't look so pretty. Not EVERYONE... but I am glad not to risk it anymore.
  15. On the bright side! I think my insurance covered the Aczone because it was only 35$ for like 2 months worth! Normally it's over 100$. Booya! Should be mailed to me by the end of the week.
  16. I have the tretinoin cream, too. My doc said I don't have "that" type of acne so retinoids won't help. I only had the Retin A from a while back. He said Retin A is for like.. clogged pores/white heads and that kind of thing. I was using the Retin A in desperation before I went to the doctor. Mine is superficial bacteria and sad, sad hormones. I don't get whiteheads though. Just cystic painful lumps or random tiny red dots. I am also now getting jawline acne, but that's from the surgery messing with my hormones apparently.
  17. My ex and his sister are like this. They only eat junk food. Period. TONS of it. And are borderline underweight. Baffling.
  18. Just an observation: I've noticed that the proper serving size for almost all foods is actually the serving size bariatric patients are supposed to eat. Everybody just eats 3 times the serving size on the labels. Nearly everything is 1 cup or less or 4oz or less or 1 slice, etc. Makes life easy since you don't have to measure nonstop... just actually follow the recommended serving size for once. Once upon a time I used to laugh at how little they'd say a serving size was... but now it makes so much sense. lol.
  19. yeah that's what the surgeon thinks. but no idea when it will go away, if at all. this medicine is "supposed" to help. spironolactone is the good oral hormonal one but it's a diuretic and the surgeon said I cant try it for 9 more months.
  20. still no bueno. I thought eating better would improve my skin but it wrecked it. lmao. taco bell diet was golden for my skin.
  21. Recovery from the gallbladder, pain wise, has been much worse than the bypass. It's been 3 weeks and I am still sore on my right side. Hard to lift things and I get tired fast. He fixed the hernia in there too so that's also healing I guess. I'm going to give it one more week before I resume exercise.
  22. Protein is the bane of my existence. I am almost 3 months and still usually at 20g-30g a day MAYBE. I just had my 3mos labs drawn, all the protein tests, so we'll see. My muscle mass is totally fine. I have drank maybe 10 shakes since surgery.
  23. Just an update on this. Was on erythromycin benzoyl peroxide cream but it didn't do anything. Saw doctor today and he prescribed Aczone and Doxycycline. The Aczone has to be special ordered. $$$! But the acne is still very bad from surgery. It's pretty embarrassing.
  24. Just did my 3 month labs today. Had some steak last night and 2 hours later starting puking up tons of snot and spit. That went on for about 45 min, and then a LOT of undigested steak mush came up. I guess it was stuck somewhere. Surprised it still cane up after 2 hours. Other than that, doing fine.
  25. Good! Ulcer pretty much gone. Eating soft foods. Gallbladder area soreeee still. Back to the regularly scheduled appointments like a normal patient. 3 month visit Feb 5!
