  1. I am jealous of your problem. LOL. I am losing way too slow for my personal taste.
  2. My surgeon's office has two nutritionists. Except mine has been out on maternity leave since my surgery so I have not seen a nutritionist at all since then. They decided that the priority was on pre-op patients. The program was I would see one 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, and 12 months out to make sure I know WTF I am doing, but they cancelled ALL post-op patient appointments so this one girl can get through all the pre-ops. Well I haven't lost weight in 4 weeks now and after plenty of badgering I FINALLY scored an appointment for next Wednesday. JEEBUS. I get the point that they want to get new patients through, but it is equally as important to ensure your post-ops aren't effing up! She's responded to my messages, but has never been able to actually look at what I am eating over any length of time or see any food logs or really go into depth (since it's all via messaging). I am friggin' thankful I finally get to see a dietitian. I mean I've been following the book as best I've been able to given complications, etc, but I really, really need that one-on-one guidance and support. I'm basically just winging it, it feels like. I am really disappointed in my office for not bringing someone else on temporarily or giving referrals or SOMETHING. I'm going to bring all this up next week. Not trying to keep taking advice from internet randos - would really like to see an RD! I know my other post says I lost 5lbs in January, but that is all back. What the heck.
  3. Lord I need an update on this. O_O Congrats and God bless for going through with this surgery and doing what you know is best for you!
  4. My hair loss started like 2 weeks after surgery! I'm a little over 3 months now and it is like cobwebs of hair coming out in the shower. Ugh. I was told around 6 months+ the hormones will start evening out and all that, but everyone is different. I'm taking a keratin supplement for the heck of it but that does nothing. I also have insane explosive acne now and spotting even though I have an IUD and haven't had a period in 5 years. I can't wait for my estrogen, etc, to chillllll.
  5. So I sent a message to the nurse this morning like WTFFFFFFF. And he said he didn't know magcitrate was carbonated and had never been told by anyone it hurt them before. UHHHH. Yeah dude. He recommended I take Milk of Mag or the MagCitrate pills next time. Smh. I asked about Milk of Mag in the office and he said to do MagCitrate. Yeah, never again. Today it feels like I was punched in the gut still.
  6. My insurance will pay for a tummy tuck if there's pics of irritation sent in. They won't pay for anything else. BUT plastic surgeons do give deep discounts.
  7. Omg it was so awful. It's been 2 hours and it still hurts. I take Colace 3 times a day and Miralax daily. At Day 6 I am told to try suppositories, which don't work. Senna tea USUALLY does the trick, but didn't this time; I drank it twice. Leading me to here... curled up in a ball wishing for a swift death. Why the hell would he recommend something that was carbonated like that!? I noticed a small amount of fizz but figured it was okay since he said it was. Got 5 oz down. NEVER.AGAIN. I am peeing from the wrong place now. TMI. Do you think mineral oil is okay? I am eating roughage now, too. My water is good for where I'm at... about 60 to 70oz a day and increasing. I was told no fiber since I had the hernia repair. I am still shook over what I just experienced.
  8. On recommendation from the bariatric nurse, I drank some magnesium citrate because I had not had a bowel movement in 14 days. I cannot truly explain the pain I experienced. I thought my stomach had ruptured and considered calling 911. It felt like an open flame was held to my stomach. It's been well over an hour and while the pain has dissipated some, I am still in pain. Can anyone recommend anything to soothe this? The office is closed and I don't think it justifies an emergency visit. Has anyone experienced this? This was definitely in the top 3 most painful things I've experienced in my life. On the upside... I did use the bathroom, profusely. I did spit up a lot of saliva and vomited a very, very small amount of the laxative almost immediately. Now I'm just laying down. Water and dairy isn't doing much to quell the burning.
  9. Best wishes with the sleeve! ❤️
  10. I just ordered the cinnamon hot chocolate and the cocoa cereal from the BariatricPal store. Can't speak to the taste yet, though...
  11. I truly do still get very distressed when I see how big I am in the mirror. My brain sees me as tiny and that's how I think other people see me. It's going to be so amazing when the outside matches the inside!
  12. I had RNY. I had symptoms pretty much as soon as I got home from the hospital. Everything I ate or drank BURNED LIKE FIRE, even water. Two or three weeks later, after they realized it wasn't just "sensitivity", they did an endoscopy and found the ulcer. I was on a liquid medicine called Carafate for two months, four times a day, and Pepcid and Prilosec. It recently healed on its own. The hernia, I had no symptoms, but they saw it when I had to have my gallbladder removed on 1/5. I started having serioussss gallbladder symptoms 1.5 months out from surgery. Extreme nausea and dry-heaving. They didn't realize it was my gallbladder for about 3 weeks after I had symptoms begin. They sewed the hernia while doing the gallbladder.
  13. I am curious as to how many members on here have been obese since childhood, just since adulthood, or just for the past handful of years. How do you think that has shaped your expectations of surgery and your body image? I have only been obese for about 8 years. In my FB group, a lot of the women struggle with getting down to a smaller size because they aren't used to the compliments or they feel uncomfortable. I was "warned" prior to surgery that my brain won't catch up to my body size for a while. I have the opposite issue. I MISS the attention from men. My brain still sees me as skinny, so when I walk past a mirror I am shocked at my large size. I think that has played a huge role in my disappointment in the surgery and my unrealistic expectation that I should lose 50lbs a month. LOL. I am SO ready to be the me I know and miss, and losing "just" 70lbs isn't as big of an accomplishment as others may see it as. I will be proud when I accomplish that final plateau and settle into a size that my brain recognizes. I know this is a very different perspective than those that have been heavy since childhood, for example. Would love to have a dialogue about these differences and expectations.

  15. From what I understand, fluids alone can't stretch or damage anything. Liquids pass without restriction. Honestly, I get INSANELY thirsty sometimes and chug water and, yes, it hurts, but I seriously seriously need water at that time. It only hurts briefly for me, though, and I've only done this with water... so maybe other stuff causes the gasiness.
  16. The moral of my personal story is... don't let a chart rule your goals. Because when I was actually healthy, doctors said I was fat based on me being slightly into the overweight category and I let it ruin my life. Chances are if you went to a doc that didn't know you had gastric and you were just a few points into overweight, they'd say horribly negative things because that's just the perception these days about obesity and people who are overweight. I personally just want to look and feel good, and damn any stupid and misleading charts. Be proud of what you accomplish.
  17. That time of the month for a whole month. LOL. I have my 3 month appt. tomorrow and I cannot wait to complain to them in person. They love me. hahaha.
  18. Pardon me, 141 is technically overweight at the chart I just pulled up. I guess I was 141, if you want to mince it down to that. I was told that 140 was overweight. Every BMI chart I pull up is *slightly* different. And once I hit 135, doctors were warning me of my impending weight crisis. Once I hit 140, I was told I was overweight and needed to lose weight immediately, etc. 140, from what I experienced, was a terrible size for someone our height. Hence all the issues I described above.
  19. My insurance requires 18 months before they pay for a tummy tuck (which I don't even think I'll need). The only thing I desperately want is an arm lift. I was thinking at 12 months? My surgeon said the weight loss will pretty much cease at 12 months (unless I do more via personal training, etc). How long did you wait before having self-pay cosmetics? How long of a "stable weight period" did you give yourself?
  20. Ammmggg the senna tea didn't work! I have really bad cramps, though. Halp! I am on Day 13 with only 1 micropoop. This won't stop happening! Taking Colace and Miralax, and have had the senna tea twice in 5 days.
  21. My doctor said I can expect to only get to around 160-170ish with the surgery alone (ex: NO exercise). That is still obese. I want to get to 140, which is still overweight according to the BMI, BUT when I was 140 I looked bangin' so that's my personal goal. I looked amazing at 140 and let the doctors put into my head that I was "soooooo fat" which led me into a depression and an eating disorder (I said screw it, I'm fat anyways so may as well eat), which ended up with me at 286lbs. I will never let the BMI chart rule my perception of myself ever again. I look back at those pics of me at 140 and it is depressing as hell that I thought so little of myself because "I was two points into overweight on the BMI chart". I had a six pack. I had hips and booty for days. Also the low end of the BMI chart for me is like... 110lbs. I would look like a friggin' bobble head. Also turned out I had 8lbs of excess breast tissue I had removed during a much-needed breast reduction so... the argument could be made I was really only 132. LOL. WOMP WOMP
  22. Took 3 days to be approved after the doctor submitted all of my records.
  23. I started the Aczone about a week ago and it is making all of my acne bleed! And I am popping up with more. I think the erythromycin was better, even though it didn't do a whole lot. I'm *supposed* to give it 6-8 weeks though...
  24. None of my medications changed post-op. My dose didn't go up from when I was 140lbs to 280lbs, either. The only thing I had them switch was my Ambien XR to the regular Ambien. But I took the extended release that I had left and it worked just fine. I take Ambien, Guanfacine, Lexapro, and Valium.
