the slippery slope and excessive rate of loss
Saw my primary care today. She is concerned that I've lost 15lbs in 5 weeks. My bariatric surgeon's office said I should be at 7-10lbs loss every 4 weeks at this point, so I'm not TOO much higher. She is concerned I am not eating enough protein so she ran my labs a month early. Will know Monday. I lost 4lbs this week alone. I am 3lbs from goal weight and actually concerned I am losing too fast and will be underweight or just look weird. I have an appointment with my dieitian in October to work out a meal plan to maintain. My trainer wants me to stop cycling, but I am like addicted to it. He doesn't think my muscles are as defined as they should be because I should get 120g a day with the stuff I do, which is physically impossible with my tummy. I would need to add in a shake and it would just be a lot to stomach - literally. I am at about 700 cals a day at this point, so at a large deficit. But I am full. I can't eat more. Odd to be in this conundrum. I'm not going to cut back exercise until I see the dieitian. If I lose another 15 by then, then I know I have a serious issue because I will be 128 and look WEIRD. I FEEL good. I don't feel weak or tired. I feel functional and healthy. I'm not mentally ready to stop exercise or to try some carbs that may not make me sick. It is such a slippery slope. I don't *think* I'll be the type to give into cravings and regain... but I am scared to risk it. Carbs were my vice and I conquered my cravings. I don't want them to return, so I keep them away from me. I also have a very sensitive tummy. BUT I also don't want to be a weird stick figure, either. I am still healthy-appearing now, but another 15lbs will be no bueno. Another 10 is pushing it. And this is without the skin removal which will shrink me much more. Kinda actually worried. How does this stop. Where is the equilibrium. I know I will be at GW by Monday. =/ I should be happy, but I am worried because it isn't slowing down. I am hoping it levels out over the next month and you don't see that ticker drop dramatically as it has been lately. I feel like I got in this routine and it has been so successful, but now it is time to switch it up and that is scary. I don't want to fail so bad that I am failing in a new, unexpected way. Sorry for the ramble. TLDR I can't stop losing and it's becoming excessive. The rate has actually increased lately, rather than slowed.

Just got the all clear to...
Potato??? I was told never to eat potato ever again. Starch = no bueno My first foods were egg salad and beanless chili.

How do you tell if a food is not going to be your friend.
You could try pureeing it a bit finer, too. If something makes me sick, I avoid it for a while because it brings back bad memories LOL. Eventually I will usually try it again unless it made me extremely ill (super foamies and super nausea and vomiting for an hour) and then I just cross it off my list. It helps me with denser proteins to smother them with some kind of dressing or sauce. That's the only way I can eat chicken or fish at all. And even then.. risky.

Calories and Malabsorption
"The internet" says the primary malabsorption is fats. And here is a really long article about it: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3571763/ and another https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5700383/ lol. I can't find a "figure" on what the fat malabsorption equates to in terms of calories, and I'm sure it is food-specific.

1st Mammogram post op
I am about to have my first mammogram ever on the 23rd. I am a B cup now. I used to be an H cup and the thought of getting those squished made me nervous. lol.

Arthritis
I use Diclofenac Topical gel on my small joints (ankles, wrists, fingers, occasionally around my knees). It is a TOPICAL NSAID, and my surgeon said it is fine. I also take several regular Tylenol a day. That's about as good as it gets. =/ The Diclofenac is very helpful, though.

Food tastes GROSS
Some stuff tasted off or weird to me. Like I can't stand vanilla now at all. Your taste buds will change over the next few weeks/months. Even if it's gross, still eat it.

Those that lifted heavy before surgery
I don't powerlift, but I can tell you my trainer is constantly hassling me because "at this point I should have much more muscle definition and be able to lift a bit heavier" but he says I don't because I am not getting in enough protein. I am at 90g of protein a day and he wants me at 120g, but it's really basically impossible for me at this point. He is a State champion powerlifter. May be easier since you got Lapband.

reward points issue
Yeah, it still is showing zero points when I clear my cache and log out and back in. I'll shoot an email over when I am ready to order again...

PLEASE HELP. I’m 2 weeks post op with very little weight loss.
At 4 weeks out I was eating probably 200 calories a day. I am 10+ months and hitting 700 calories now.

reward points issue
On the top of the forum it says I have 5320 reward points, but when I go to the store in the lefthand corner next to rewards it says I have 0 points. And when I click on account, the rewards section just spins and never loads. I also have never been able to see when I checkout where I would enter to use my rewards points. I'm not quite ready to place an order, but will soon and would like to use them....

exo cricket protein review
These seriously just tasted like every other protein bar on the market! I have the other half sitting on my desk for my 10am snack. They would be better if they put in some kind of wafer or something in the middle to give it some texture. It has the consistency of a slightly melted tootsie roll.

skinny shamed!
Happened again this weekend when I went to visit my grandmother with my mother. I don't think my grandmother realizes that the surgery is 'permanent' because she asked when my diet is over and if I wanted to lose more weight. I said yes, and she said that "I was looking too thin and no one likes that". In front of my mom, who basically said the same thing the other week. WTFFF. She used to tell my mom I was fat and "should do something about it" behind my back. Now I am too thin (again, not as thin as I was just 9 years ago when everyone said I looked healthy). Literally f**k everyone and their opinions. lol.

my personal little official thread
FOUR DAYS! Until I get that pesky under-armpit "sideflap" of skin removed! I already have scars along there from my breast reduction so... that's a plus (?) I am so nervous to be awake, though. Barf.

My Plastic Surgery Thread
I called my insurance company and made them verify up their chain-of-command that if I had complications from plastics that they would be covered. They assured me they would because they'd be "medical" at that point. Going in for my bra-line excision this Friday which is "minor" so... this could be a trial run of their accuracy. LOL.

are these.. baby clothes?
Anyone else pick out clothes now and just look at them and think that they are insanely tiny like baby clothes and there's no way you're gunna fit in that but then you dooooo? Best, weirdest feeling ever. I am wearing size 7 in Juniors leggings right now and a Juniors Medium top and I swear they look infant-sized when not on my body. Blows my mind! In an awesome way!

Nutritionist thinks I should be eation 1000 cals a day!
Dannon light and fit yogurt for breakfast, Chomps beef/turkey stick for snack, BariatricPal Lite Entree for lunch, some miscellaneous protein snack (like Kay's protein pretzels) for snack, then nonfat cottage cheese or a turkey patty for dinner. If I go out to eat, I get a salad. That's it. Very rarely is it anything else. Sometimes a hardboiled egg. Sometimes a few blueberries. That's about it, though.

Nutritionist thinks I should be eation 1000 cals a day!
I eat about 700 calories a day, 10 months out. At a year "they" say I should be at 1100. No way. I can't physically eat anything else. Plus, I HAVE to eat high protein because of my exercise routine, and much of that isn't very high calorie. If you're still losing, stay the course, imo. I don't track anymore because I literally eat the same thing virtually every single day. So, every day in my diary would be identical. lol.

My Plastic Surgery Thread
The graft was my own nipple. I had "super gigantomastia" and it required a full nipple graft in order to remove enough breast tissue and relocate the nipples to the proper place. They were at my belly button essentially. The vast majority of breast reduction do not require the severing of the nipple. They leave it attached and remove the breast tissue and then sew it back in place... they couldn't do that with mine because the "distance" was too far and the tissue to be removed was too much. So, they cut my nips off and put them on a little sponge while they do the rest of the job and then stitch them on in the proper place at the end. They removed about 8lbs of boob.
