Sweets
I don't really understand your post. The sugar in Greek yoghurt and fruit is not somehow morally superior to the sugar in anything else. I don't assign "guilt" to food. It's morally neutral.

Sweets
I eat a Skinny Cow ice cream bar every once in awhile. Sweets weren't really my issue and I don't think it's any big deal for me.

smoking
Pot is legal in MA. I smoked it occasionally before surgery and smoke it occasionally now. I think the biggest risk is the munchies.

HOW FAST CAN I RETURN TO WORK POST VGS?
Because your role as a 911 dispatcher is so important, please do make sure you have a clear head before returning to work.

Did your surgeon want you to lose weight before you got surgery
No, my BMI was 40 and that’s the minimum my insurance would cover without comorbidities. My pre-surgery diet for a week was 1 protein shake and 2 lean cuisines a day to shrink my liver.

HOW FAST CAN I RETURN TO WORK POST VGS?
@CESILEYRAE I really didn’t need it. I had single incision VGS through my belly button.

HOW FAST CAN I RETURN TO WORK POST VGS?
I have a desk job and a sit/stand desk. I took a week off, worked from home for a week and was back in the office week 3. I was a little weak from consuming 300-500 or so calories a day, but it was OK. My surgeon doesn’t let you drive for a week.

NSV's Spring 2019 Edition
I went to the mall yesterday to get resized for bras. I've been going to the same nice, older lady at Bloomingdales for the past 10 or so years. I went from a 44D to a 38DD! No wonder I was uncomfortable. My two favorite clothing stores are in that mall, Eileen Fisher and Nic + Zoe. I used to like them because they made nice plus sized clothes but Nic + Zoe only sells them online (I think). I went in Nic + Zoes and everything I tried on fit! I went in Eileen Fisher and bought a dress marked down from $300 to $75 size L, not even XL. I don't want to spend a ton on a size that I hope will be temporary, but getting a few things was great. Great shopping trip.

Dry skin? Leathery feeling? Skin not as supple as before?
If I have the heat on I sleep with a humidifier in the room. It helps with dry skin, dry throat, etc. Eucerin Skin Calming Body Lotion works well for me. I take baths but I use body oil like Neutrogena Body Oil after. And I drink at least 64 oz. a day. I use a 16 oz. water bottle and make sure I drink at least 4.

Sickness and dehydration after surgery
Good point. Writing them down before the appointment helps.

Sickness and dehydration after surgery
I doubt you will need a feeding tube, but maybe more IV fluids. I swallow big pills with protein shakes or tomato juice, the thicker liquid makes it easier. Good luck!

Outpatient sleeve
I’ve heard of it. I wasn’t awake for my leak test, if I had one. As long as you have someone at home watching you who can take you back if necessary, should be fine. I have a law degree and if you have someone helping you, in my opinion, this does not violate “duty of care.”

Sickness and dehydration after surgery
So see your surgeon asap. If you can't, go to the ER. Good luck and I hope you get help soon and feel better.

NSAIDs
I take Tramadol for my degenerative disc disease.

Couldnt Do Surgery-Liver Size
Whoops, I got the feels over an old post. LOL

Couldnt Do Surgery-Liver Size
That is awful. But now you have proved that you can do this, with just one issue, your liver. If it were me, I would get a second opinion from another doctor who has a lot of experience with doing the procedure. See what they recommend and take it from there.

Bowel prep before surgery?
If any doctor requires something and I don't understand why, I ask them questions, such as, are their other options to achieve the goal here?

my sister say I'm taking easy way out by having weight loss surgery
Ask her what kind of moron would want to do everything the hardest possible way. Does she push her car to work everyday? Use the cat's tail to apply eye shadow?

Favorite restaurant meals post WLS?
I like sashimi (sushi without rice or seaweed). Cheesecake Factory has a good light menu. B. Good is another chain with light options. I like the vegetarian spaghetti and meatballs. It’s eggplant meatballs and zucchini zoodles instead of pasta. A salad with no dressing and protein like chicken on top is also easy.

I had fun last night but I don’t think there will be room to ever eat again.

I haven't really "cheated" in 6 months. Today I didn't have food at home to pack a proper lunch and the Stop and Shop near my office is on strike and I would never cross a picket line. I got home starving and we went out to a steakhouse/lounge and I had a little less than 1/3rd of a short rib with mashed potatoes entree and a Makers Mark on the rocks. No guilt, it was fantastic.

Back Pain
I have degenerative disc disease as well. A really good PT has done wonders for me. She has her doctorate in PT. I've been seeing her for 9 months. I had to try a LOT of people before I found a good match. She gives me a back rub for 30 min. and then we exercise for 30 min. I think my 50+ lb. weight loss has helped a lot, but I still have occasional flare-ups like tonight. There ARE exercises you can do that might help, but I would suggest getting an MRI first so you know what the issues are.

October 2018 Sleevers
I was waiting for my doctor's appointment to post my update. This is what my doctor put in my notes. "Jessica is 6 months following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. She has lost 57 pounds or 58 % of her initial excess weight. This is ahead of schedule for typical weight loss at this time following surgery. She denies any nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain and is working to maintain a healthy balanced diet. She should continue to focus on protein intake and hydration." I am very, very happy with how things are going. My doctor has a higher goal (175) than I do because once I saw I could do it, I thought I could lose more. So we will see. ?
