  1. You gals might want to try the protein "bullets". It is a product by New Whey and it like a jello shot in a tube. There is the 25 or 42 grames of protein in each and they come in fruit punch, grape and some other tolerable flavors. I mix mine with a crystal light and some water and it a a great way to get my protein and water intake in. I do recommend that you half the 42 gram one since most experts agree that you can only absorb about 20-25 grams at a time. Good luck!
  2. Leslie2Lose - Thanks so much for the information. Many of us newbies really do rely on the veterns to guide us throught the tough times.
  3. I have done the same thing from the moment I made the choice to get banded. I have to restrain my self from making snickering comments under my breathe.
  4. I will start with the lows and end on a positive note with the highs of today. Lows for today – My port hurts today and it has not hurt all week. I had to spend 80 bucks on a computer bag with wheels so that I can transport by crap back to work on Monday. I needed to get a new cordless phone and I bought one with out an answering machine so I have to go back and return it. That is what I get for going with the cheapest option. Now for the Highs – I am a week post –op and I have lost 27 pounds so far – 5.8 lbs this week. I started on full liquids today and I love it. I had a ½ cup of potato soup for breakfast and lunch and I feel full and satisfied. I ate the breakfast portion at 9:30 and didn’t get hungry until 2:00. That is a record for me. I got a $50 check from the hospital. I paid $50 when I did all my pre-op testing and I guess the insurance company paid the bill in full. I am looking forward to the Olympic open ceremonies toady and a member of this board, Lanakila, will visit me tomorrow. I am also looking forward to the cooler weather here in the Carolinas

  6. I am looking forward to watching the opening cermonies also. I think they are on tonight for us.
  7. Weight loss this week = 5.8 lbs or 12.8 kgs Excercise = 9 miles walking. I start full liquids toady - YEAH:drool:
  8. Warning – This post may gross some people out. I am only 1 week post op and I have been having 2-4 watery and gassy poops a day. Is this normal? When does it go away? I have been off of work this week so I have had the luxury of my own bathroom. I dread returning to work with this problem.
  9. Gas pains are the only discomfort I had after surgerey. Walking helps the most.
  10. Nina - now it is time to relax before you big day. Good Luck on the 13th and keeps us posted on how everything goes.
  11. Gas X strips are a must. Gauze pads in case you need to cover any incisions. Protein in a form you can easily drink and tolerate - for me it is the protein bullets mixed with Crystal Lite. Good Luck with your upcoming surgery.
  12. Congratulations on becoming a bandster!! Walking does help and sleeping will get better and better each day.
  13. I had a worry of being put under also. My fear was waking up during surgery. I was wheeled into the operating room at 8:42 and then I woke around 11:00 and no memory of the surgery. Relax you will be fine.
  14. Lanakila - I will join you. I love football. I grew up in NYC so I am a Giants fan per se. I don't follow the players as much. I just love watching games.
  15. I have not eaten anything solid in over 7 days and I am ready to see the results:rolleyes2:.
  16. I have been using the protein bullets by New Whey. Each bullet has 42 grams - I half them and add Crystal Lite to water. I do this about 3 -4 times a day. I stay hydrated and get my protein in.
  17. Welcome to the August 2008 Board. You will find tons of encourgement, support and friends here.
  18. I once told my old boss that "I don't run unless a rabid dog is chasing me". Maybe I will change my mind once I lose some weight and walking gets boring.:w00t:
  19. Thanks for all your hard work Lanakila. Aug. 28th will be here before you know it.
  20. Wise people say.....when one door closes another will open. Your door will open!
  21. I got banded last Friday and I can honestly say it was breeze. The anxiety leading up the the surgery it was is a killer. I woke up from surgery with little discomfort and the nurses eased that away with some pain meds that worked quickly. I am on day 5 and I feel ok. I am still on clear liquids until Friday and I don't feel hungry. I do miss eating just for the hell of it but that is what got me here in the first place. Try to remain calm - everything will be ok.:w00t:
  22. Crying was the better choice in this sitution Lisa. I was nine months pregnant when I had to look for a new job. It can be done. You will do it!!
  23. Umm....let's see Listen and work with my band Eat a low Carb and low fat diet Continue to workout at Curves 4x a week and Walk 3x a week 225# - I have not been this low since 2004 - Scream with joy that I can wear my Tommy Hilfinger jeans that I have been saving for 4 years 199# - I have no idea. I can't remember the last time my I weighed under 200. I am not a shopper but I bet I will have to get some new clothes at this weight 150# - goal - I think. I don't know what I will look like at this weight. I am sure it will be glancing into a mirrors every chance I get and prancing around - perhaps naked:w00t:
  24. Nina, I agree with the other posters about showing up in person. They can't ignore you and you are the customer. Good luck!
  25. I had surgery last Friday and yesterday was the first day I didn't need a Gas X strip. I have been taking walks in the morning and that seems to help. I had the gas mainly near my collarbone area, more on my right then on my left. But I have no pains today. Only a slight discomfort and I can't pick anything up from the floor. Good Luck to all the new bandsters.
