First Fill
I have not lost anything since being on mushy foods and I expect the same when I go on soft foods. Lellow makes a good point about losing muscle during the liquid starvation mode. I am just happy not to gain any and I hope my first fill on 8/29 helps me with portion control. Roheryn - For mushy foods I have been eating creamy mashed potatos, creamy soups, sugar free pudding and yogurt. This Friday I can start soft foods - eggs and some flaked fish.

First Fill
lellow and Cutie - I am so jealous that you guys are eating real food I have to wait until next week and I can do eggs and the inside of fish. I am so ready to start using me teeth again:biggrin:

First Fill
My first will be on 8/29 and I am so looking forward to it. After being off liquids my appetite has come back with full force:drool: and I am trying hard to make good choices and to watch my portions.

How are people losing such a large amount of weight?
I am still on liquids and soft foods. I usually consume about 700-900 calories with about 70-90 grams of Protein. Very little sugar and carbs. I also walk about 2.5 miles a day and my weight loss has been fantastic. I suspect most people are like me and jump start their weight during the healing phase and is slows as you start to eat solid foods and increase you calories. Remember - everybody has a different rate of losing weight and you can't compare yourself to anyone. As long as the scale is going down that is all that should matter.

Naming your Band?
I have been thinking about the "Enforcer". I be Forced to make better choices and to eat healthier. It will also be a physical barrier in limiting the amount of food I can consume. It will Force me to lose this weight:biggrin:

Fantasy Football Anyone?
Do I need to sign up with Yahoo before the draft day? Do I need to get a Yahoo ID? Sorry....I never did this before. I am sure I will have a lot of questions.:confused2:

What was your preop diet like?
I have a pretty high BMI and was put on clear liquids the day before surgery and my liver looked great. I also limited my carbs and sugar intake just so that I can start eating healthy before surgery. I am sure that helped the liver out. I think it all depends on what your surgeon is comfortable with.

NSV the first day back at work
NSV= Non Scale Victory usually equates to your clothes getting bigger or you doing something you normally wouldn't do before banding.

NSV the first day back at work
The dress pants don't have belt loops - so I have no choice but to get them altered. Hopefully they can last me until the end of winter.

NSV the first day back at work
My co-workers noticed that I was tugging on my pants. It is obvious they do not fit me anymore. It feels good to have pants that are too big rather then too small.

Let's Get This Party Started!
PB's are productive burps. I think they happen when we don't chew well or eat something that does not want to go down past the band. Usu sally it involves hacking up the food and a lot of slimming. Slimming occurs because your salivary glands are in overdrive to help get the food down. Overall a very unpleasant experience.

NSV the first day back at work
Today is my first day back at work since being banded on 8/01. I never realized all the pushing and pulling I did (I just have a desk job) so my port area is a little sore. BUT....I put on my nice pants this morning and the hardly fit me. I mean I have to make sure they are not going to fall as I walked down the hall. I can feel the sliding down. Holy Crap that was fast. I am going to have to get them altered pronto because I am not ready to be new clothes just yet. But what a NSV (non - scale victory)

Tell Us About You!
Hey everybody I was banded on August 1 and I am doing great. I have been heavy for as long as I can remember looking in the mirror at myself. I come for a family of heavy women on both sides, seriously they are all over 250 lbs. I have been married for almost 7 years and I have a daughter who will be 4 in September. I also have a dog who is my walking buddy. I work in the International Logistics department for a major pharmaceutical and agricultural company. I have been there 10 years and I love my job. I can't wait until I can shop in the "normal" department in stores, ride a bike with my daughter, and to be a healthier me.

Who's Getting Banded in August???
I had a lot of bruising around my port incisions and still do. I think it is pretty normal.

Emotional Eating
Recovery is going well. The clear liquid diet was hard and boring but I toughed it out and made it through. I am now on full liquids and I am feeling full with just a small amount of food and it is lasting about 3 hours. I know am still swollen and healing on the inside, but I feel great. I had very little pain after waking up from surgery. So far, it has not been that bad. I return to work this week so we will see how that goes:cool2:.

Started Preop!!
I can't believe you are laying concrete while on a liquid diet - I am pretty sure I would have passed out. Good exercise!
-
I do believe in miracles!
Congratulations on your approval. That is the first step in your new journey. Good Luck!

Let's Get This Party Started!
Cutie - I am glad you are feeling better. I am feeling pretty good now that I have moved on to full liquids. Keep up the good work everyone.

i think i made a mistake!
Make an appointment with your surgeon and tell them what is happening. There is a reason why the scale is not moving. It could be a combination of things - if you are hardly eating your might need to eat more. Your body needs calories to burn calories. You also have to exercise and track your food. You might be getting a lot sodium and that may lead to retaining water. Talk to your surgeon and figure out your next plan of attack. You can do! it:thumbup:

can definitely eat more today
This morning I also woke up feeling awesome. I went for my walk and I was straving by the time I got home. I am still on full liquids so I am a little limited in the food area. Stay active and watching our protion sizes will help us until we get to our sweet spots. Roheryn - I am sorry you are in liquid hell. Just keep your chin up - brighter days are ahead.

HELP!! Surgery on Tuesday and I caught a COLD!!!
I was told that I needed to be as healthy as I can be before surgery. you don't want your body fighting something and you have a ton of healing to do with the band. Your surgeon will make the decison if you are healthy enough to do surgery. In the meantime, I would run to the drugstore and get some of that Ziacam stuff. It is supposed to make cold shorter. Good luck.

Emotional Eating
JDUB0414 - 41 pounds in 4 month is great and you should be estatic that you are working with your band. That 41 pounds equates to 2 pounds a week and that is what is expected of bandsters. Stress is a triger for me and I just have to learn to redirect my head when that happens. It is not easy but it is a habit that I am determined to break. It's hard work but we will get there.

Yes! I'm done!!!
I went to the grocery store during my lunch hour before I had lunch and I was able to cruise on through the store without impulse buying junk. I also didn't get hungry until 2:00 and I ate breakfast at 9:00. It is a wonderful thing not to think about food 24/7 - I love my band:wub:
