  2. Hi all I am day 11 after my gastric sleeve surgery. The surgeon advised us at the hospital to only take tiny sips 3 minutes apart of all liquids for 3 weeks or we risked getting a leak. I wondered if this was true? I haven't seen any other advice supporting this and a few times I have accidentally taken a larger sip at much shorter intervals without any discomfort. Can drinking too much water or liquid cause a leak?
