  1. try & get as much protein foods in your mushy stage, this way you should feel fuller for longer, chicken, fish, meat, potatoes, eggs, etc.. keep drinking your milk, water, Im not too bothered about fruits as long as i eat my protein foods first & i havnt been hungry as of yet
  2. i too had metal taste in my mouth when i was on liquids..lasted for couple weeks then went.. im sure its to do with the sudden change of diet ?
  3. well done on your weight loss, thats great, & way to go with keeping up with your grand-daughter & your exercise, i too use the treadmill (at home).. i would love to start swimming but i think i will lose some more weight first.. keep up the great work
  4. hi there, you are not alone anymore, you have friends here who can help out with questions, im from the UK too, i had my band fitted 5 weeks ago & love every minute of it.. have a browse round the forum, how are you coping with your new band?
  5. steroids can give you more of an appetite too, i totally know how you feel, i was like it just before surgery, i had blisters back of my throat, never felt so ill in all my life, but antibiotics helped alot, soups & fluids might get your strength back to normal as they are packed with nutriants & not over work your band for a few days.. hope everything goes well at your appointment
  6. wow you have done very well losing all that weight.. I think i get my first fill in about 5 weeks time
  7. a lot of us suffered with it.. due to the foods or lack of it.. im on mushy stage & in the mornings i still wake up with bad breath, but by lunch time its gone.. i just used to rinse with mouth washes throughout the day more.. im sure it does go away when were back to eating normaly
  8. hi Deb & welcome, its the best thing i did too, dont regret a thing, its great seeing the weight come off, though you do have to work with it, remember its a tool & not a magic wand, but work hard & the results will pay off
  9. Its very normal, i too went through the same thoughts & i imagine just about everyone did on here too, you are here at this stage because even though we can lose the weight we cant keep it off, before you know it it will be over with very quickly & you will love the new you seeing the weight fall off & staying off.. dont give up on the thing that can give you your life back..i dont regret anything about the surgery maybe a little about the liquid diet for 4 weeks, but a very tiny price to pay to see the weight drop off... good luck with your surgery & look forward to more posting from you soon
  10. maybe you needed more fills for the band to work so you can lose the weight? .. i hope the app goes well for you.. its so important to keep every app or go get fills when its not working in your favour or just go talk to the docs & see what other possibilities there are for you in helping this lapband work for you keep us posted & good luck this tme round
  11. hi & welcome, im from the UK too.. im 5 week post op & its the best thing i have ever done to help with my weight.... why are you terrified of the pre-op ? . They will weigh you, ask you lots of questions, talk about the procedure etc etc.. do you have a lot of weight to lose ? are you self pay?.. im sure everything will be alright for you.. keep in touch
  12. I feel for you as im 4 weeks post op & since pre op stage ive been cold too.. esp my fingers & toes, like ice, I have to jump in the bath daily as well as having a shower just to warm up.. & sometimes wear gloves in bed with thermals & up to 3 hot water bottles..Im hoping it was going to sort itself out along the journey & roll on summer

LOL what a great read, congrats on becomming a bandster..
  14. so now you can say tammy all that stress was for nothing right?... i was so stressed out too & this is my 8th operation & by far the easiest.. well done & start to enjoy the new you, im sure you wont have any regrets.. its the best thing i have ever done to help my weight problem
  15. I agree it is a personal decission & only you can make it jodi, probably talk more to your doctor, they should guide you with what will be the best option for you, It would be great if we could take a pill & wake up thin the next day, but that just doesnt happen even with the bypass, yes it might be quicker to lose the weight, but for me i just wanted the banding & my surgeon said i didnt fit into THEIR criteria of having the bypass & i wouldnt want to handle more surgery, this time of having excess skin removed.. Rome wasnt built in a day, one step at a time, good luck into what you chose, im sure it will be right for you
  16. I remember having my tonsils out when i was a kid & i didnt get jelly & ice cream, i got dried toast & these sweets to chew on so i could keep swallowing... Im sure everything will be fine .. please let us how she's doing
  17. Hang in on there, everyone is different, & dont forget your body is still healing, as long as your doing everything your doctor is asking of you then your doing fine, the weight will start to come off, some lose quicker than others & thats fine, just remember once its gone its gone, make sure you are drinking plenty too & keep walking/moving about doing some exercises, remember its a tool & you still need to work hard at it to make it pay off for you.. good luck
  18. when you go on to mushy foods chew between 100-200 times.. this really helps to slow you down & makes you feel fuller for longer, thats what i do, & i havnt yet manage to eat all my required food on the plate..im on the mushy stage for 1 more week then solids.. good luck
  19. congratulations on your weight loss, you have done awesome, & before you know it you will have reached your other goal, i would stay clear of grape juice..lol
  20. i got told not to eat too.. 30 mins before & 45 mins after.. im not going to risk any stretching with a bit of fluids.. just not worth it.. i have seen others write on here they drink & eat at the same time
  21. lol my meals get cold quick too.. i heat all the foods piping hot & make sure my plate is hot too, by the time im nearly half way through my food has gone cold... wouldnt mind if it was summer but is still cold.. Brrrr
  22. I got told the band has to be unfilled due to the body swelling up & making the band even tighter, maybe others have been told different?
  23. hi charlotte, congratulations finding the funds for your operation, they say between 1-2lb a week.. but everyone is different, some lose more some lose less.. it doesnt matter how quick it comes off, just as long as its coming off.. good luck with your surgery
  24. Ive always been told by dietitions/fitness trainers muscle weighs more than fat... i guess they must have it wrong
