Two weeks post op and have some questions

I have just started the mushy faze today. 1/4 cup of protein 3 times a day plus two snacks i can have i.e fruit veggies pureed and so on. My question well the first one is that I get a lot of dizzy spells at least twice a day along with a headache. I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced that? I wont have my first fill until april 1 and i can't wait cause the food is not filling me but i will not cheat i refuse. The second question I have is that I have been getting a lot of muscle cramps i.e my leg or arm falling asleep. Has anyone experienced that before?

Hi:

Sounds like maybe you're not getting enough calories in, or poor nutrition in what you are having. Do you take a daily Multivitamin? If you are taking medications, is it possible that you've lost enough weight to need to have your doctor cut back on your medication already? You really should call your surgeon or primary care doctor to discuss. Also, if you're having dizzy spells, please don't drive until you make them stop.

My doctor told me that leg cramps can be caused by low potasium. Bananas are high in potasium.

Best wishes to you with your band. I love my band!

I think dizzy and headache is a sure sign of dehydration. I also agree with potassium.

Good luck.

A drastic change in diet can also throw your electrolytes out of wack. I also had bouts of dizziness after being newly banded. I drank watered down gatorade (half water half gatorade) and it always made me feel better and made the light headed feeling go away. Low blood pressure can also cause dizziness so if you take blood pressure meds you may want to have that checked out.

try & get as much protein foods in your mushy stage, this way you should feel fuller for longer, chicken, fish, meat, potatoes, eggs, etc.. keep drinking your milk, water,

Im not too bothered about fruits as long as i eat my protein foods first & i havnt been hungry as of yet
