Before internet, the best way to meet people with similar interests would be to participate in activities that you might be passionate about. If you're in to exercise you could join a gym or participate in marathons, etc. If you like to dance, cook, sew or are creative in other ways, you could take some classes for those things. I think it is important to find someone that is passionate about the same things as you are. The best way to meet someone like that is to do those things around other like-minded people. You're a beautiful woman, I'm sure you will have a lot to choose from. Good luck!

Here are some menus: I get up around 5am fyi.
B1 - Protein decaff coffee (6oz Premier Protein across 3 cups of decaf)
B2 - egg white puff with mushrooms, baby spinach, turkey sausage crumbles, lite cheese wedge, egg whites
L - leftovers from dinner or turkey roll-up with cheese or a salad
    D - protein, veg, avo + tomatoes

Here are some screen shots (click to enlarge). The whole day doesn't fit on one shot. The first Breakfast is the protein coffee and I list all my Vitamins in my bedtime "snack" to track them too.

So I just averaged my 6-8 week numbers. At I think it was about 5-6 weeks I have no restrictions whatsoever from a diet standpoint. If I wanted raw veg and fruit I could try them. My RDs goals for me were 64+oz liquid with about 36oz coming from Water. She wanted me hitting 60-80g Protein daily (ideally around 74g). And she had no other goals for me.
I could eat so easily and drink so easily. My pouch is called Iron Will. To this day I fear that I can eat too much. So we really might not be apples to apples if you have a lot of restriction. I rely heavily on healthy, nutrient dense, but not not calorically dense foods for about 95-98% of my foods.
At this time, I could easily eat:
2oz protein (by weight) = about 1/3-1/2 cup by volume depending on how much you cram it down into the measuring cup.
1oz veggies cooked (by weight) = about 1/8-1/4cup by volume depending how you pack it and how well cooked they are.
1oz of combined grape tomatoes and avocado (by weight) = about 1/8 cup by volume (these are just sliders to me).

I was also still drinking 6oz of Protein Shake in my morning decaff cuz I loved it, but also cuz it helped me know I didn't have to do protein only meals in order to meet my protein targets for the day.

You should just move on from the whole Insurance issue and seek out financing that is specific to plastic surgery. Start looking at options that are offered on this site like bariatric pal mx. It seems like so many people have had WLS and the plastics done in Mexico that it is just as viable an option as getting it done here in the U.S. at a much lower price. Good luck!

Maybe that person doesn't like me? Maybe that, funny person is trying to follow,me? Oh every person has their bugaboosm maybe ours look bigger but they may also be what makes Us ,Us.
And @Oct517, I just had my surgery 3 weeks ago on September 5th, and although,i did end up at,peace about things, there is always teeny reservations. See I am probably the oldest new-surgerized Bariatric Pal you are going to find. On December 26th I will be 73, might as well hang around, you know? Now,my hospital was and is a wonderful place. Ohio State in Columbus Ohio, I recommend them if someone doesn't have one already. The day of surgery was going smoothly, and I'm sure yours will too. We went up in a elevator, to the surgical floor, first gurney I ever ride that was smooth, didn't veer into walls. Knew once I got there my surgeon , Dr Needleman would be there, he promised and he is a man of his word, before everything progressed he brought by a good many of the staff going to be there, a benefit of being the surgery first of day. Even knew my anesthesiologist, Dave, by name and appearance. Did Dr Needleman have to do this? Probably not but it gave me peace, even if they were all suited up in Scrubs in there, I did know who there are. The last thing I thought as we go in through those doors" Hmmn I wonder if I am going to die?" Dave had slipped some Happy juice in my IV. before I left the prep room. Neat that,he asked first, though.
I get in there, Dr Needleman waved at me, yeah sounds silly but I liked it, okay? I was helped onto the table, first, one in all my surgeries I didn't feel like I was going to fall off on the other side and bounce on the floor. I had heard they yank your arms out to the sides and fasten your arms like you are preparing for crucifixion. None of that, room warm , not too bright, ORs usually are. And there was my friend Dave right there by my left shoulder. I recognized him, even suited he has the prettiest set of green eyes. Hey, I noticed 5hese things. He asked Are youcomfortable? I had time to say Yes I think I am and the very thing I remember I was waking up in my room. Missed any memories of Recovery Rooms and things, and I felt GOoD. As pleasant as waking up in my own bed on a warm summer morning. So you see all my worries, fears and qualms were nothing. I was treated with tenderness, kindness and I even felt a little loved. And I know yours will be equally good. My doctor has never lost a,patient, and I was not his first. Your surgeon will be equally good!😛👍😷

Well I panicked for nothing. They didn't even test me for nicotine. I don't know why. When I asked about it she said if they tested me it would have been a urine test. They only took blood. (Could possibly test me say of surgery) After the pre op testing I had a class about the surgery then I seen another nurse who said my blood results all came back good. Still waiting on the B1 level. So next step is to get through the 7 days of liquid diet. I start that on the 9th.

Research duodenal switch. It is a very successful surgery that starts with making a sleeve (which you already have) then bypassing about 2/3 of the small bowel. Watch this Dr.'s video.

If they find nicotine in your system, have a pack of these in your purse and tell them you chew one of these when you get an urge to smoke. It slipped your mind that this gum might cause you to show positive for nicotine.

    Long post

My surgery was scheduled for October 22, I was on my count down to my 15 day liquid diet and ready for surgery. That isn’t going to happen now for at least 3 months possibly up to a year.

I had upped my exercise routine about a month ago. I had finished my last set of the day when I felt a sharp pain in my mid back left side. It kept hurting while I showered and went through my day. I took some meds and went on with life. By evening i was sure I had strained a muscle.

I went back to my gym the next day, I swim, than lift weights and showed than home for a late Breakfast . It started to hurt to breath but when I took a deep breath it felt like someone was stabbing me in the back and my chest. By 6am Saturday morning I was in so much pain ever breath I took doubled me over. My husband rushed me to the hospital.

After blood test, ekg , x-rays and CT scan I had my dx. My results were back from CT very fast. I have 21 blood clots in my left lung and 9 in my right lung. When they showed me the CT scan they counted the little buggers. They started me on IV Heparin and got me a room.

I was in shock when they told me I had all of these blood clots. I asked what caused them. I never had any pain in my legs where they normally start and move up to your lungs, heart and brain. I have been losing weight now for 7 months, exercising and eating healthy. What the hell it had to be now just a month before surgery.

To answer that YES!!!! I am damn lucky to be alive. I am glad this happened now and not in the middle of surgery or after.

My doctors said that they feel the estrogen in the birth control pills I was on caused the blood clots. I started them because my periods have gotten crazy after losing 80lbs in the last 7 months. I was on them 42 days. I was due to stop them the day I was admitted to the hospital . Because we have to stop them a month before surgery. I also found out I now have to do blood test to see if I have a blood clotting disorder. I am on blood thinners for a year at this point.

I am sad my surgery is not October 22, but glad this came up before.

I know birth control pills are the easiest way for a lot of women. My doctor said very casually they have some side effects but those pass in a few months. There is a very small risk of blood clots. Then she went on with another subject. I knew this was a possibility but it was not even in my realm of thinking when I went to the ER.

Please don’t wait 8 days like I did. Even if it is only a strained muscle if you are taking birth control pills and you feel off for any reason call your doctor or get to the ER.

I have my last class for my required 6 months of nutritional education on Wednesday this week, all my other test are done, I was ready. I am still ready. This is not going to stop me from my surgery and a health life. I am more determined then ever to see this through.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation with my wife. I think he sees you asking him to order food that way as another way to remind him yet again that you're doing this and he's getting more insecure about the whole thing.
He'll come around if he truly supports you, but then again, it may also expose his true feelings as well. If you don't have a healthy foundation in the first place, I think this process is going to show what your relationship is made of for better or worse.

I finally had to come to a point in my life where I stopped using my spouse as an excuse to live an unhealthy life. This surgery will be a life changing decision that can only be successful if I hold myself accountable. I've been married for 30 years and my wife does the same thing. She eats in a way that is opposite to the way I need to be eating. I just try to educate her on the things I've learned and keep pushing forward to my goal of becoming a healthier me. Change is hard for everyone in your life to accept. People will act like they want what's best for you when in reality the status quo is in most cases where the comfort zone is. Sometimes the only way to make positive changes is to leave that comfort zone.
