3 months post-op and having setbacks...

thank you! I saw another posting that said something similar about allergies- after I posted of course. I would never have thought of that. Ihope that is all it is. I am hitting the allergy meds now!
  3. Good morning. I am 3 months out this week and have lost about 30 pounds (I was over 300 to start so I thought it would be a little more by now but that is okay). July was a crummy month for me. On the 4th of July I slipped and fractured my foot throwing off my exercise routine- I was just about to get back to the pool to start swimming again last week when I got a sinus infection and had a lot of problems with my allergies. Now (the reason for my post) Saturday I had a stomach bug or something and threw up (first time in 3 months). Since then I can not eat and even drinking hurts- I tried a banana and it stayed down but it hurt. I feel like I have horrible gas or I feel like I need to throw up and I just burp. I know, I know... go see you dr! I actually have an appointment on Thursday morning (the first Icould get) but in the mean time I thought I would see what others had to say? I am praying I did not have a slip. Any thoughts?

I really need some support !!!

How are you all eating? I was banded May 7th and I am still not supposed to have food. The closest thing I have had to food since the end of April is cottage cheese. My Dr. has me on full liquids until Wednesday-21 days after surgery (I CAN'T WAIT!). I don't think I could have tolerated food before now even though I have wanted it. I feel great- although am starting to get a little hungry and am ready to chew something. I am just curious. As for the gas pains I did suffer with those for about a week and a half - I only stopped having the pains in my stomach and shoulders a little over a week ago. That is normal- your body has to absorb all the gas they blew up with.

    What did I do?

Hang in there everybody! I promise every day gets a little better and you will start to feel stronger each morning. I am 3 weeks out and am feeling great! Once I got past the gas pains I started to feel so much better. Just keep swimming!
  6. I sure will! Good luck to you with everything!
  7. Nicelee- I was banded on 5/7 and I feel the same as you. I do not feel any different. My muscles don't hurt, my "holes" have all about healed. I am using self control but am starting to get really hungry. My first fill is June 5th (I know it seems early but my Doc seems to think I am ready and I am thrilled). I do feel great though. Energy level is up and I am walking, which I never did before surgery.

    Vitamins and Shakes

I use building blocks Vitamins, Bariatric chewable vitamins. I take a multi-BAND Vitamin, Calcium and anti-ox. Here is there website: Building Blocks - Essential Bariatric supplements. They also have shakes but I don't use their shakes. I really like the EAS shakes or Atkins Advantage shakes already mixed, the mocha one is great, chocolate is good too. Wal-mart also has a Protein powder by Body Fortress that is good (and really reasonable)- the chocolate is way better than vanilla. A banana or DaVinci syrups (coffee flavoring) are great additions, Kahlua and Peppermint are my favorites in the chocolate. You can get the syrups through their website online or you can usually find them much cheaper at Marshalls, TJMaxx or Ross. It sure is a great adventure, isn't it!

    Pulling a Star Jones...?

It is such a personal decision and I am typically a private person and originally only told my family and a couple of friends, but somehow about 10 minutes after my surgery a couple of my friends announced how great I was doing after surgery and everyone at work was told. I wasn't sure what to think at first but now I am actually glad they all know. Everyone has been so supportive and of course everyone knows someone who had lap band or wants it It has been an amazing supportive network I never would have expected. t is also great to hear,"oh I can really tell! Or how much are you down this week". It keeps me motivated. You never know how things will turn out.

    Banded 5/6 Still Bloated

I was banded the day after you and am still bloated. I have wondered about downing an entire shake also. I have no problems taking in soup, shakes anything. I don't feel full and at times I still feel hungry after I have a protein shake or a bowl of soup. I don't get how people can sip on one shake for 2 hours?
  11. I was banded on 5/7 and I miss sleeping on my stomch. I still have some port pain but more than that it feels like the port is right up against my rib bones, is that normal? When I lay on stomach it feels awkward but tha tis how I sleep best and I need my sleep! :sneaky:Any thoughts? Otherwise I am doing great. Gas is finally dissappating  and I have more energy every day. I am on liquids for another week and half which I think is going to get difficult because I miss chewing food (and no gum is just not the same), but I am hanging tuff!

    chest pain? Gas or full?

This is all such a relief to hear. I was banded 5/7 and keep wondering when this gas pain will go away! I have the tightening in my chest and the shoulder pain. Last night was about the worst shoulder pain yet. It has been one week today since my surgery, I thought the gas pain would have dissipated by now.

    just banded 5/6/2008

I was banded 5/7 and I still do not have my energy level up. I do not have any problem drinking protein shakes or eating yogurt. I do not feel so full right after like so many talk about. I can have a full protein shake in one sitting with no problem. Is this the case with anyone else? I went back to work on monday and didn't make it the whole day- I nearly fell asleep while teaching a lesson :tongue2: I know my energy level is still really low!
  14. I was banded on 5/7 and I am bruised where my port area is as well. All of my other "holes" look great but I have a huge bruise and am really sore in my port area. I also am really shaky, especially in the morning. I am attempting to go to work this morning.I think I am going to miss my heating pad most today. I teach elementary school- could make for an interesting day
  15. I was banded 5/7 in St. Augustine, Florida. I am having many up and down moments. I have a lot of family here "supporting" me- while eating BBQ, drinking beer and eating chocolate cake- gotta love family :tt1: I am having some pressure in my chest after drinking anything. Water is the best thing for me I think. Maybe I am drinking too fast? My diet consisted of... 3 days clear liquids 3 Weeks of full liquids (yogurt, puree fruit, milk, protein shakes)- I started this today and already had a hard time getting in all of my protein today. after 21 days I can start adding meats and veggies. I am still positive but have had been shaky a little and have some head hunger- which I am sure my family helped contribute to. This site has been so great! It is nice to know that there are others going through similar feelings.
