Day three of my liquid diet today and I actually feel pretty amazing. It’s nice to know I’m purging all the crap out of my body and I was super hungry yesterday morning but once I got over that hump I’ve been ok. I’m in a really positive mindset and ready for what is to come!

Hey y’all I’m new here.
Surgery date: April 1st
CW: 230
GW:150
I started my pre op liquid diet today and boy was I not mentally prepared for it but I think it went well except I had a rice pudding thinking it’d be ok until my nutritionist said nope. So I’m hoping tomorrow is better. They say the first 3 days are the hardest so we’ll see. Hopefully I’m not scaring anyone. Just sharing my experience 🤨🤨. Anyone else started liquid today? How was it? Any tips?

Y’all, my pre op liquid diet starts in exactly 2 weeks! I am not nervous just really excited. I know it’s going to be hard but I was ready for surgery a month ago, lol.
I guess I am just happy to know change is coming!

Getting ready to start my liquid diet on March 18th. Is it weird that I'm kind of excited to start the liquid diet?

In 2008 I went down to 180lbs, from a supervised weight diet. In 2010 I give birth and went up to around 250lb. The lowest I've been since was 222. At 260lb I went to a bariatric session in October last year.
I am really looking forward to this surgery

I'm a Crisis Screener in an ER and in the community. I took the full 6 weeks and I am going back to work next week. I actually decided that I'm not returning to the same company as it's high stress and is not healthy given my recent surgery and ongoing self care needed especially in the beginning. I took a position doing the same work but for a different organization, in a different county, with lower demand for the services I provide. Just do what's best for you as this is a life changing surgery. Mine was actually a revision due to complications. I only took off for 2 weeks for the first one and regret that. Your job will survive without you for an extra couple of weeks...take as much as your doctor will give you. YOU are more important than your job! [emoji3]

I had gastric bypass and was back after 2 weeks. I am a dental hygienist and have a physical job so I was a little tired the first week back. Now I feel back to normal. My Dr cleared me to go back after the 1st week but I took 2.

Hi there,
So I met with the psychologist and nutritionist yesterday and was surprised when they told me I would need to take a month off of work, even though I work a desk job. Everything I'd read online said 1-2 weeks would be good. I see a lot of people here posting about 10-14 days is how long it took them to feel good going back to work. However, I would love to know if that 10-14 days is for those who got the sleeve or gastric bypass. I'm going to get gastric bypass and wanted to know if I should allot the 4 weeks that was recommended. If that is truly the case I will need to push off my surgery since I'm starting a new job.

No worries. You have the recommendation. And if you are going through the steps you are in!! Just stick with the program. Don’t stress over the process it’s fairly painless. There are many reasons to have the surgery all are valid.

I had a quick question for those of you in the PNW who have Kaiser. I have a BMI of 38.7 and no other health issues. I have a family history of high blood pressure and diabetes that is pushing me to get surgery. My PCP put through the recommendation based on my incontinence issues that are a symptom of being overweight. I went through the weight loss class and did the sleep study (waiting on results) and I’m going through orientation in October. My issue is that I’m really worried that I’m going to get denied somewhere in the process. Does anyone know who the primary permission giver is? Did I already jump through the main hoop of getting my PCP to give the recommendation? I mean I know that you can fail the psych meeting but who decides if the reason I’m having surgery (the incontinence) is a valid reason?
