  1. Hey, that is great. I guess I will survive the barium stuff. It is all part of the process. What is your surgery date? I wish I knew how to do all the cool things on this site like pictures and the cute little grafts. Maybe my son can help me.LOL Becky
  2. I have had negative comments from my friends in the past when I just mentioned that I was thinking about having Lap band surgery. My surgery date is May 12th and I have only told my husband and my sister who are both very supportive of my decision. When my weight starts to drop and people notice I will say yeah, I had lap band surgery and it was a very personal decision that I have chosen to keep to myself. That is the way I am going to handle it. Becky
  3. Wow! that is so encouraging. I hope that I can go off my BP meds and that I will quit snoring so my husband will stop sleeping the the guest bedroom LOL! Becky
  4. Thanks, I will keep you posted. I don't feel like I am doing this alone anymore! Becky

  9. Hi Ken, I just got my date too, it is May 12th. I too have been thinking about this for over a year. Now that it is finally happening everything is moving along very quickly. My very best wishes to you and look forward to sharing this journey with you. Becky
  10. Well hi there buddy!!! High five to you!!! Are you as excited as I am? I am in Chico Ca and Dr Ludwig is my surgeon. I am having my barium upper GI study May lst. Do you have to have that? That is the only thing I am dreading. I have all my lab work May 2nd, but I work in the preop testing area and it will be one of my fellow RN's who will be drawing my labs and doing my EKG. Keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same. Becky
  11. Dear Grace, How inspiring it is to hear from someone like you. You are just what I need right now.......lots of positve information and support. I have always believed that attitude is 99% of the battle. I hope to keep a good attitude through this adventure. My surgery date is May 12 and I am both excited and a little nervous. This has got to work for me. My BMI is 38 but I also have high blood pressure and chronic back and knee pains. I used to be a very active person and I want to be able to continue an active lifestyle as I age. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. You just don't know how much it means to us "newbies" I hope to hear from you as time goes on. Becky
  12. Good luck David. I am just starting the journey. My lap band surgery date is May 12th and I am both nervous and excited. I wish you well on your journey. Becky
  13. I am just learning my way through the lap band forum. I just got my surgery date which is May 12th!! Although I have been thinking about this for over a year, now that I have made the decision, it is all going so fast. Lots of things to do to get ready. I start my protein drink fast May 2nd. I would love to hear from thoes who are going through this to know what to expect and which products are most appealing. I want to connect with other people going through this whole process. I hope to find encouragement and positive support. I know this is not going to be a piece of cake (no pun intended) but if I can hear how others have made it through the first few weeks then I know that I can do it too. Thanks for taking the time to listen.
